Jenny, it gives me somuch JOY, when you say, "Our goal is not to have to swear!" I love it. You graciously find and fix your "slow down." It builds confidence and comradery! We love YOU. This is so fun, I want to do one. Thanks for sharing your creativity with us. God be with you till we meet again 💝🤟🙏🍀🦓Liz from Northern California 😊
Such a cute quilt. How many people were watching this and saying "No, Jenny. That green and white square needs to be turned!"? Was glad she spotted it before getting too far.
There are 1000 women yelling at their phone right now! "That block is turned the wrong way!" 😁 Your graciousness when you make a mistake helps me to go easy on myself. ❤️
What I enjoy the most about watching Jenny.. she is true to herself. How many times we all make the same mistake in our craft rooms with no one watching us. Love this quilt which I will put on my to do quilt list. Thank You so much Jenny and family for all you gave us over the past and years to come. The quilting world is a better place because of you.
I totally agree with you. Jenny never trys to be prefect. She is just like us all. I just adore her personality. She is definitely a humble, loving woman who loves to share her thoughts on making beautiful recreation blocks, easier.
That is also why she is my favorite to watch-I can relate to her so much more than someone who makes their tutorials “perfect”. She makes beautiful quilts and doesn’t pretend that she is perfect!
I’m watching this and crying. My husband Terry’s Grandma made him a quilt for our wedding & it has these leaves on it. It’s a tulip quilt This reminds me of the day I first put that quilt on our bed after we married . I don’t know how many times I’ve smiled running my had over that quilt in memory of GMA. Thanks for another awesome memory Jenny, this quilt is gorgeous!!! I love Gingham so much!!! BTW Terry passed in 2002. He was 48 yrs old. Memories are what quilts are made from!!!’❤❤😊
I love that Jenny is a "get it done" kinda girl! With that many kids to raise she had no time to be too fussy! Jenny makes my favorite videos!! Love your shows, and can't wait to get to your shops,...one day, sigh....
My grandma used to say while making quilts: "it's not how well you cut & sew, it's HOW WELL you Hide Your Mistakes"... I loved my Grandma's thinking pattern., Chicken Scratch.. I think I still have a pattern book for that.. I made aprons for friends for gifts.
EXCELLENT!!!! I LOVE the Missouri Star Quilt Company staff, but...... by far, my most favorite tutorials are when it's just YOU, your machine and fabric!!!!! It doesn't get any better than that 🙂
I loved this video this is one of the beat ones I’ve seen in a while. I love it when you take your time and talk and show us different ways and especially old blocks and old ways because I love the old ways. They just seem to have more love in them . Anywho great video Miss Jenny
Lol, anti-finger lickers. Couldn't help but laugh when you said this. What a beautiful quilt. I would have never thought of using this type of jelly roll probably for any quilt, but the overall effect is beautiful. Thank you for opening my eyes to other options for fabric use.
I love watching Jenny alone she makes sewing them look so easy. Watching the triple play gives so many ideas using the same block. But doing them differently. Thank you, I love you all.
My grandma, born in 1907, had an Aunt Hattie! So that puts Aunt Hattie born way before that! I can’t wait to make this quilt in honor of those 2 ladies. Thanks for showing us your antiques. Hard to think our quilts will someday be antiques😵💫. The first thing I ever sewed was a skirt and vest for myself out of baby blue gingham….wore it for my 6th grade class picture- boy was that skirt short, and thin🙃. Merry Christmas!
The quilt you made here has that antique look because of the gingham fabric! It is so nice that someone finally made REAL COTTON gingham, instead of us having to buy the poly cotton kind!
Another great block. I found myself saying to Jenny, "no, look that one is turned around." But she caught it. Love it when Jenny makes the same mistakes I do. And how special for her to keep it in the video and not edit it out. Just like Jenny says, "We make it real." Thanks for all you do for us. 🥰❤️🧵🪡
I love how it feels like we are in the room with Jenny. I love the stories and tips she shares as she is creating. I learned how to sew quilts watching Jenny, Natalie, and Misty. I had always wanted to learn but never did until her videos. I have made 5 quilts so far, 4 from MSQC patterns and one of my own design. I just finished making the spooky season quilt. My next one is going to be a Christmas quilt with appliqué and traditional piecing combined.
This is a great quilt, love the material and colors. Thanks for allowing us to see your human and make mistakes too. Also love when you give us different ways of sewing the blocks together. The sewing the pinwheel center first, fit my brain so well. You are amazing!
I made my mom chicken scratch place mats on light green 1/4 check gingham back in the 1970's. They were very cheerful. When searching for patterns, I have also heard chicken scratch called Tenerife and snowflaking. Thanks for the cheerful quilt pattern and reminding me of chicken scratch. It was easy and fun to do.
I know! I just discovered Missouri Star the past couple months, but love having a quilting video on, even if I'm just doing the dishes or cooking. I make a mental note to go back to something that I really like and watch again to take some notes. I'll see a design that I want to use certain fabrics for in my stash, and write down the name of the video and the name of the quilt, or who made it if it is a Triple Play, and put the note in with the fabric.
I wanted to tell you so bad ! The first one I didn’t see but the second one you fixed I saw 😊. I’m glad you make mistakes sometime it’s not often but it makes us out here learning from you that it’s ok 😅. Thanks so much. We love you anyway 😘
Jenny~ I LOVE how to assembled the 2nd lemoyne star block! My brain struggles with angles too and anytime I can break the steps of a block down to smaller units, my brain relaxes and I can truly enjoy the process!
Thanks for this cheerful version of a Lemoyne Star Flowers 🌸 quilt pattern Jenny. When I make this one, I’m going to trim out a small circle from the centre of the star (about a 1.75” circle) before ironing on the yellow appliqué circle, because I find that centre to become quite bulky on Lemoyne stars where those eight seams all come together. And they really do look like flowers this way, I love it! ☀️
@@MrsGraphiteGalYou’re right, it could be tricky. Since I prefer the ‘finished’ look of needle-turned appliqué anyways, I sewed on the circles first, and then (carefully! 😊) trimmed out the bulk beneath the centres. So many ‘how-to’ choices.
What a fun & happy-colored quilt!! I realized also that your center seam doesn't have to be exact since you'll be adding the circle to it. I'm of Jenny's age, so yes, I remember Chicken Scratch!! What a great find 😊😊 I cross-stitched onto some pink gingham with white yarn when I was in Jr. High & mom made them into curtains for me! It wasn't Chicken Scratch, just a cross-stitch design. Good times!! With the size the block comes out, would also make a great pillow!!
I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your tutorials. I love how you make the difficult easy. I think my brain and yours think alike and also love your motto..."done is better than perfect". It takes a lot of pressure off when my block size doesn't match perfectly. Please keep making your Triple Play... So much fun to see how each of you make the same Block look completely differently.
Thank you, Jenny, for showing us that even you make mistakes! This shows the rest of that we should not be so frustrated with ourselves when we do. We jut need to check our work often! You are always so inspiring!!!
I absolutely love this block! Sunflowers rule! And the gingham just adds to the joy! Thank you so much for all the wonderful tutorials you share. A true treasure you are!
OH MY GOODNESS!! I love this way of making those Half Square Triangles!!!! I am not good at cutting and it's Way, Way, Way off when I try to sew them together to make pinwheels. I will be trying this today! Thank you so much!
I love gingham so much!!! This reminds me of Spring & Summer which are my favorite seasons of the year! PLUS you’ve shown me a new way to make the Lemoine Star!!! So much wonderful in this tutorial!
Jenny love that quilt..The second way of putting it together was awesome. That will be great for me so much less ripping. Thank you all your time you share with us this great quilts
Love this quilt!! I’m not sure I’ve ever seen this method of making half square triangles but I can’t wait to try it!! Also, this would be absolutely darling using the ‘30’s prints!! Thanks for yet another fabulous project!!
Love the videos. Thanks for showing us how to quilt and even your mistakes. It makes it all real to me. It is summer here in South Africa. This is going to be a tablecloth for our outside table. In the tropics everything is green. I am so excited about this quilt. I don't have a Jelly roll with the colours, but I do have fabric I can cut into strips. MSQC are amazing. It's excellence in every part of the company shows. I love it.
Fabulous looking quilt!!! I love the gingham and flower blocks.....My favorite combination!!!!!! Thank you I have 2 weddings and a baby coming this coming year. I will be making a quilt like this. Jenny you are so sweet. I adore your character and personality.
I love how real you are! I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who is friendly with my seam ripper! I also love how you sewed your block together without ironing each section first. I can get into it too and skip ironing along the way to save time. I love all of your quilts and have learned so much from watching your channel

I totally get it! The applique, so darn easy but why it has a hold on me a bit reluctant to dive in. I'm so frustrated with myself. I finally do my toe on the applique pool abs the water was perfect! Perfectly easy I mean you almost can't do it wrong! No kidding. And if you get the chance and haven't yet. Check out Lisa Capen Quilts. She's fabulous at showing applique.. taking all the fear / intimidating thoughts etc. right out of it. Easier then iron on, trace, cut out iron on such around or don't! Easy option for that a well. Hope you do your toe in soon, I just did after all this time and 🤦♀️ silly waste of time so much I've missed doing .. time to catch up🤩
Thanks Jenny. I needed some inspiration for my next quilt and this is it. I love you're beautiful quilt. I'm going to make mine with 2 1/2" scraps I've been saving. I always learn something new from your videos. You're amazing!!

OMG!!! I love this block! I organized my my sewing room last month and found a forgotten jelly roll and wondered what I would make with it. I chose to watch this video without knowing the materials needed. I am sew excited to use this block with my forgotten jelly roll ❤
I love this quilt! My grandfather's sister was named Hattie. And I've been looking for different ways to make flower blocks, that with the right colors would make a sunflower. This is very pretty and might do well! Love your videos,❣️🌻Thanks
This will be my next project. Love this tutorial. My grandmother's name was Hattie and she was a quilter. And glad to see you did not edit out the mistakes as it makes it more real. MSQC is one of my favorite quilt sites! Thank you and your crew for your time and efforts!
I am working on the Big Star quilt and I am glad you showed both techniques for creating the block. I had tried both ways and I think for me the second way with doing the pinwheel first works best for keeping everything lined up. I like seeing more ways so I can choose what works. It's also what I enjoy with the triple plays - sometimes the Easy 8 or 16 works better than cutting blocks and sewing them all separately.
Off topic, sorry but couldn't figure out another way to contact MSQC. What is happening with the Triple Play Videos? There is nothing showing up for December and before?
Thank you for being so honest and you! It is good to know even the best quilters have issues! I am a terrible cutter and am usually very creative when piecing. Thank you Jenny!
This gingham quilt reminds me of the baby quilt my grandmother-in-law made for my daughter before she was born. It was all gingham. My daughter then had that quilt for her baby.
OMG, The tutorial had me with my mouth hanging open at using the jellyroll stripes, sewing both sides, cutting out, and having half-square triangles. So creative--as always. Love Hattie's Sunflower and the Bee Plaid is perfect for this. I had a 'Chicken scratch' pillow in blue/white gingham that my husband's maternal grandmother made and gave to my youngest daughter. I'll have to look back and see if you have other tutorials on shortcuts. I am always fascinated when you take a block and sew all 4 sides then cut them apart to have pieces.
I admit I’m a bit (or maybe a little more than a bit) OCD with my piecing and I do press my seams before sewing pieces if the block together. Yep, does take more time but that’s OK with me as I am also one of the slowest sewers around!!!!! I am totally amazed as how you and the other Doan girls can just zip along sewing anything! It’s impossible for me and that ‘s OK, too. This quilt is so adorable! I can see 30s prints used also if the cute Lori Holt fabric is not available. Or maybe even a Christmas type fabric? Hmmmm!
Oh Jenny, I think this quilt is just what I’ve been hoping for. It makes me feel like the perfect Spring Quilt for me. And I can have it done before Spring so I can enjoy it during the season. Between YT algorithm and my losing track of what day it was, your video didn’t show up on my channel. 🤭 😢 Hopefully, I’ve fixed that so it won’t happen again! I hope you have a wonderful weekend that includes relaxation during this crazy busy month. 😅 Take Care and God Bless You and Your Family, 🥰❤️ Chris-Raleigh NC
Love this tutorial. I enjoy your mess ups because we all have them happen and the grace and patience you show when it happens to you shows your character. Gingham and chicken scratch - I had forgotten. I’ll be trying that as well.
I love this quilt!! You make it look so easy to complete the blocks. Thanks for sharing your shortcuts with us. Thanks also for showing us that even you make mistakes and we should slow down and really look at the block before sewing it up.

Yep. I was hoping she would notice before it was sewn in. I hate ripping, but Jenny handled it like a trouper.
What an excellent way to use the gingham fabrics. I'm excited to see this jelly roll of gingham fabrics.

Oh, my goodness! This is so pretty! Love the gingham fabric!!!
What a wonderful quilt to make as we all look forward to spring 🥰 Thanks for sharing Jenny 👏🇬🇧
Love to see that we all make mistakes. You're the best, Jenny❣️
I like the Jenny method best! Seems so much easier to get right☺☺
This is so pretty and the colours make it look sunny I love it 😍
I admit I’m a bit (or maybe a little more than a bit) OCD with my piecing and I do press my seams before sewing pieces if the block together. Hmmmm!
It has taken me several tutorials to understand this star block in my brain. The way you have described it here helps me a lot. Thank you.
Take Care and God Bless You and Your Family, 🥰❤️ Chris-Raleigh NC
I love your short cuts,it makes things go so much faster, and I tend to make less mistakes..I just love your videos, thank you.
Love the ginghams!😻
This quilt is so adorable! It's so happy and springtime. I nice change for cold dreary day here in PA.
I love your second method!
Love this tutorial. I enjoy your mess ups because we all have them happen and the grace and patience you show when it happens to you shows your character. Gingham and chicken scratch - I had forgotten. I’ll be trying that as well.
I love this block so much! And the gingham! Swoon! Glad you found the mis takes. I do it all the time!😊
A wonderful quilt tutorial, a history lesson, and a free “chicken scratch” bonus pattern. Thank you.
We are after all only human! and finger lickin good too! Good job Jenny 💖
Yo yo’s would be cute in the centers too!
I love this quilt!! You make it look so easy to complete the blocks. Thanks for sharing your shortcuts with us. Thanks also for showing us that even you make mistakes and we should slow down and really look at the block before sewing it up.
Love it, a very sweet block.
Wonderful to see vintage skills made modern
Love the real Jenny
