One of the Biggest Bands of All time
People forget how commercially successful and huge The Black Eyed Peas were. At one point, The Black Eyed Peas were the 2nd most successful music act and selling digital act in the world behind Rihanna during the early 2010s. Plus there albums were huge. I remember being in elementary school forcing my mom to buy there albums after my aunt had brought their albums and played them in her car while running errands 😂😂😂 I never forget when the Black Eyed Peas tore up the Superbowl Halftime Show with Usher (another childhood star), I almost lost it. Similar to the global impact that music groups like TLC, Spice Girls, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys and Boys To Men had in the 90s, and the success that Destiny's Child had in the early 2000s, The Black Eyed Peas were the major group of the world during the late 2000s and early 2010s. I personally feel like the Black Eyed Peas were the foundation for modern Pop groups like One Direction, BTS, Blackpink, 5th Harmony, Little Mix, etc. Plus Will.I.Am is a phenomenal and iconic producer. Oh and feel free to study their history. It's relatively sad, before The Black Eyed Peas gained global stardom as a Pop group, they were a 90s Hip Hop before Fergie joined the group. They had another female member. Her name was Kim Hill. She was the original member of the group but left the group because of the racist and sexist nature of the music industry and the music label executives were forcing her to become more sexualized (which countered the initial image of the group which was to be a "woke" uplifting Hip Hop group). Kim Hill is phenomenal, I follow her on Social media and she is like a mini life mentor to me. Plus she had an outstanding documentary on NY Times which talked about her departure from The Black Eyed Peas.
Why is this so long
@@DronesLoverthat's what she said
"Pump It" came out in 2006. It samples "Misirlou", which appeared in Pulp Fiction. "Misirlou" is apparently a folk song from Eastern Mediterranean area, so there should be some Middle Eastern sound.
This is one of my guilty pleasure songs.
The Sample is taken from Indian song .
That same sample use in Dr. No James Bond movie in bgm. Watch toxic by Britney Spears break down you will understand.
@@srd1846 ""Misirlou" is a folk song from the Eastern Mediterranean region. The original author of the song is not known, but Arabic, Greek, and Jewish musicians were playing it by the 1920s."
@@Micolash_is_behind_you It was first recorded in 1927 in New York by a greek musician:

Misr is the arabic word for Egypt.
Misirli is the turkish word for Egyptian.
Misirlis was a greek version of the previous word used by Ottoman Greeks for muslim Egyptian man and Misirlou was the female version of that word.
The greek lyrics of the 1927 version of the song were about the forbidden love of a christian man (the singer) for a muslim Egyptian woman (Misirlou).
The sample is from Dick Dale's surf rock version of "Miserlou" from 1963.
Request Line is probably my favourite song by the Black Eyed Peas, its from the album before Fergie joined them and has Macy Gray as a guest vocalist.
Weekends from that album is also a great song, fwiw!
This is peak bep. And was the shit back then. They paved way for this kind of music
She still part of the Group.. only doing Solo songs.. cause she got a baby...she makes a lot of money for blackeye pea..
I haven't heard it in years, big hit but not often replayed.
I ❤ how Anton Reacts in minute 03:57 ¡¡ He’s on fire 🔥🔥 enjoying the song¡¡
DANCE BATTLE!! Hahahaha great song and great reaction as always, thanks man! 😘
I ❤this song¡¡¡
This song is so good
Nice reaction, Anton! The Black Eyed Peas were like the Quentin Tarantino of the music industry from 1995 onwards sampling and mixing from all types of influences (including films like Pulp Fiction - 1994 and Fight Club - 1999 which were huge cultural hits), to expressing their individuality as a group and as individuals within the group - especially will.i.am, who was the biggest influence, I think.
The 70s and 90s had the best all around music. 80s, 00s, and the early 2010s have the best Pop centric music. There are a lot of artists that are great but to be “mainstream” music has to appeal to the masses. Also, the ugly truth is the music industry sucks for people that don’t look a certain way.
I remember i had to dance to this in elementary school
I love 'pump it' and the video is fun to watch.
You should react more to black eyed peas following through the years. Even when they made that transition to electronic were dope! Awesome to remember this 💥
Dam, I just went on the wildest ride. Ever.😜😜😜👍👍
The reason why they changed their sound is because they're going back to the music they started with. If you listen to their first two albums, they were R&B and Hip-Hop. They strayed from that because the record label wanted them to reach a broader audience. Now, they're basically going back to their roots.
If you want to listen to their earlier stuff, I'd recommend joints and jams and What it is (a cover of an old R&B song, though I'd listen to the original version first before you compare it). Both videos have Kim Hill, the original girl, in it, so you'll get to hear how she sounds.
Fergie was in the band for “Elephunk” and “monkey business” but left after that.
The cultural aspect of their music may have something to do with where some of the members are from. Taboo I believe is Mexican and Apl is from the Philippines.
Hey, Anton! What a great surprise! Thanks for doing this one. Honestly, I've never really been a big Black Eyed Peas fan, but I have definitely been a lifelong fan of Dick Dale's music. It's what caught my attention on this song. He passed away not long ago, but left us some amazing music. "MISIRLOU", ruclips.net/video/mKpsuGMeqHI/видео.html of course, is the one they drew upon in "PUMP IT", and he has a bunch of others. One of the coolest "guitar" songs you'll ever hear is the version of "PIPELINE" with Dick Dale and Stevie Ray Vaughan ruclips.net/video/56SAxtf-RTg/видео.html . Two guitar geniuses bustin' loose on a killer surf tune. Hell yeah! The back-and-forth that they do is like two champion thoroughbreds racing for the finish line. Thanks again for doing this one by the Peas, Anton. :)
😎😎😎 you react to the best songs!
I remember mastering this song on Just dance 2003😂😂
This song was also included in the 4th episode of the French classic comedy film Taxi series.
Would love to see your reaction to Shut up from BEP
i liked how Fergie's powers in this video was seduction lmao cause when it comes to women thats what most guys weaknesses are
the women's looks or how the woman would talk or look at them
that's a powerful message right there
Fergie left the Black Eyed Peas in 2017.
She had some solo hits, then sang the National anthem andioop!
I cannot believe someone finally did a reaction to "Affirmation" that song's lyrics are amazing. I only ever saw the live version though. The original is sa bit slower.
HELLO from Brazil to RJ.... My brother
Check out "Shut Up"!
Windows open, stereo turned up to 11 - guaranteed speeding ticket. LOL
Right on, Richard! That's how you PUMP IT!
Love the Peas!!!
You should check Let's Get It Started
I do prefer Black Eyes Peas at tehir debut. Back Then their influence Hip Hop Soul reveals their talent but then the industrie musci change too and they follow what's most payful and the electro style got them a bigger new public
Have you heard of the song don’t you worry that’s a good one by the black eye peas
This is fire 💜💜
She left the group and went solo a long time ago.
Insaneee
Nigga this song so nostalgic 😂
What didn’t really understand is that u said u didn’t know about their music, they were extremely popular worldwide from 2005 to 2012/2015 approx…this song is from 2006 not 2002
I think it was 2005, 'cause the movie fast and furious was popular in that moment
Es una versión de un canción creo que de la decada de los sesenta o setenta.
Anton ❤️
Taxi movie 1998
BEP with Fergie was intouchable ☝️
Greek influence
Pos?
I miss who they were before Fergie. Guess you gotta do what you gotta do to reach the top, though.
