It's not called waste or garbage but "Wertstoffe" = resources with value to generate new things out of it. So each container goes to a specialist company to be recycled. You can google for 1-Euro-Job. Not paid, ok paid with 1 Euro for each hour, but the main purpose is to bring unemployed people into life of work e.g. begin at 8am and stop after about 8 hours. Beyond the 1 Euro payment they get the usual financial support from the government.
