From borneo, sarawak.. we do eating bamboo shots in different way.. clean, wash then cook it jus a few minutes.. or, we can keep it for a few days by letting it in the water after clean it.. that the way Iban people doing long before
I really like the first edible clumbing baboo you have but for some reason I cannot find its information online. Is it called OMI bamboo (not sure if I heard you right)? How cold can it survive? Do you ship fresh bamboo shoots to the North East?
I found one down the road. I peeled a shoot and gave it a wee nibble. It tasted like corn. I tried another ones and it was gross and bitter. The bitter indicate poisonous raw. It was was very tender. How do I know if it’s safe to cook and eat?
Hi friend I visit your channel.. My mom always cook bamboo shoots with coconut milk and shrimps.. So delicious... I bring already my support to you.. Stay in touch
How fast do the shoots grow ? From a food sustainability I'm just curious how fast and how many you can harvest (does cutting the shoots damage the plant ?). Thx.
Good! My name is Adi, I am from Romania, I follow you and I liked the video with bamboo!, I congratulate you!, I am interested in naming the first variety of bamboo in your video, I want to know the name of the first bamboo and how I can choose seeds!
I've read not to buy freshly dug bamboo from sellers. Do you know what is the best way to buy bamboo for the best chance it will grow into healthy plants?
Hi, I wanted to ask if it's possible to grow bamboo in a semi arid climate like eastern Sudan. Please let me know. The soil in that region is interesting because it looks dead when you look at it, but when you plant something it grows.
On the cyanide content, bamboo shoots should have B17 , a vitamin similarly found in apricot seeds ( and most seeds, apple seeds are one of them) , a claimed cancer treatment supplement. Recently, there was an article on cassava and like you said, high in cyanide and Vitamin B17. Perhaps, it is good for frequent consumption to ward off cancer?
kisan sab B17 IS a successful aid in CURING cancer. It has been purposely and FALSELY vilified to keep people sick and fuel profits for the cancer industry.
Daniel Voon YES, Vitamin B17 IS a way to ward off and even CURE cancer. People really need to do their own research and STOP blindly believing everything they’re told but those who seek to profit from their continued sickness. There is no money in healthy people. Doctors, hospitals, the pharmaceutical industry… They all need us to be chronically ill in order to pad their pockets with our money.
I heard if you eat the seed whole, as animals and birds do, it's not poisonous. It's when one gets caught in the blender with my fruits and veggies that I end up hanging over the porcelain thrown. 2 capsules of activated charcoal takes care of it.
Can i grow this shoots?? i bought one from the HyperMarket my country not have these plants here not growing here i put it in water and i will see what happen
We sell three kinds of clumping bamboo, Seabreeze, giant timber and graceful definitely look for clumping in my opinion. Good luck come see our Nursery in Jacksonville fl if you get a chance!
@@eatyouryardjax4033 which one is the clumping bamboo you showed, the first big one? Do you sell the bamboo that can be eaten raw? Do you send a rihzom to New Jersey if I want to order?
Sure! Just let me know so I can be sure someone is there. We are open every Fridays and Sat. 9-5 and some other days by appointment. Thanks Tim, eatyouryardjax@gmail.com
Beautiful and informational. Anybody got neighbors in Central or South Florida (Sebring down to homestead) via 27 or 95 with Oldhamii or Blue Bamboo they are trying to manage and producing free clippings and shoots? I am trying to propagate. My sand is very sandy and I'm never there to water... Thanks.
I am in Puerto Rico. We have the large ones harvested first all along riverbanks. There are many centipedes living and multiplying in the roots. Have you come across any where your at????
hi suzanne im in south africa, i was planning to grow some bamboos around my house, now i dont at all like centipedes, are those centipedes found just around river banks or wherever there are some baboos growing?
Is it?...... Bambusa oldhamii, known as giant timber bamboo or Oldham's bamboo, is a large species of bamboo. It is the most common and widely grown bamboo in the United States and has been introduced into cultivation around the world.
I want a sweet bamboo, that will grow well in my area, midland Michigan. I’ve seen it grow in Asia where they get freezing weather, which one would u purchase for my needs??
i know where there's a big bamboo forest 1 hour driving from my house (they are thicker than my arms), so how do i transplant them to my garden? (in a way that it fits in my car), can i just dig some roots?.
Hi, I'm in central florida, crystal river. I got some bunching bamboo from a friend. It's about the diameter of your thumb. Would you know the name of it? I searched everywhere and gave up.
I love bamboo shoot veggies , when I visited Taiwan last year , I eat everyday as vegetarian style that I order from restaurant or street market foods stall , it is yummy , thank you you can eat raw too
Hi. I have got three bamboo sticks, which were cut from the land. About 140 to 170 CMS. Range. Their Color is yellow. Can I do something to preserve and grow them.
You should use a machete to cut the bamboo shoots. I started harvesting edible bamboo since I was 8 years old. You can get most out of it when you cut it using a machete.
Very pretty, though I’m not interested in eating it, more as an landscape plant. I’m in zone 6b so I might have to use it as a privacy screen on my deck.
Surely it can be eatan raw, but I don't know testy is the right word for uncook bamboo shoot. Best way cooking bamboo shoot is to add Coconut milk with cili padi along with other ingredients and fresh tiger prawns....bonapatet👌
Yes, the Armstrong Farm (Eat Your Yard Jax) is located 8220 Moncreif Rd W, Jacksonville, FL 32219. I just went there yesterday for Earth Day event. Huge bamboos everywhere and varieties of fruit trees and vegetables! You definitely can grow in Dunnellon.
I think you harvest the unknown bamboo wrong, you need to let it grow bigger. I think that’s the same variety I have. Next time harvest a lil bigger and less deep. I usually just snap it and don’t use a shovel
thank you for share this you video . i"m 66 years old woman by myself i have 6 ares land no water no electricity i"m really need help. please help me es land
Ten years ago I planted only one clump of Japanese timber bamboo because I didn't know how well it would grow in the desert of West Texas. It's done really well and I have a good sized area with runners going out about 20 feet this year. In another ten years I should have a good sized forest. Bamboo is amazing how well it grows here even in such a dry area. Being green year round gives the area some color through the winter. The soil is improving from all the leaves decomposing. Quite a few turtles stay in there during the summer. It's nice to have my own little forest. So far the tallest are only ten foot tall, but it's supposed to be able to grow to 60 feet tall and be six inches in diameter.
Sir, if I were you, I would first Wash, split open, and then boil the the bamboo shoots for about 12hrs just to kill off all the cyanide inside the bamboo shoot. This is just a health precaution.
If you strain white rice, use the strained starchy rice water to boil your bamboo. It removes any bitterness and gives it a smooth flavor.
Wow this is very interesting do you happen to know why? If not no worries thank you for the info!
i just bought some bamboo seeds. can't wait to plant them and harvest the shoots. i can think of so many tasty dishes to make
