It makes sense that ram air ducts should have a small cone in the center of the duct opening that sticks out just slightly to disrupt the air allowing it to enter the duct easier. Thats how the nostrals of many birds operate because without it the air flows around their nostrals and the small disruption helps guide air in. Same as why you cant breathe when you stick you head out of a fast moving car window because we lack that protrusion. Just a thought.
( Gen 4 Info ) This is a great tutorial on this mod or if you're installing MXK10 Dash Logger but the Gen4 is a bit different due to how its windscreen is installed. To get the fairing to dismount you will need to push the two top center windscreen well nuts through with a Phillips head screwdriver before removal. Only the top two center well nuts
I have the same grey 10.flashed by nicks performance but ive been avoiding the flapper mod..so much work for i think minimal gains. Guess ill get to it.
Only question I have is if the flapper valve is there to help block any water that might get in the airbox if you're riding in the rain or bad weather. At highway speeds it prob would be able to be sucked right in.
Since it is hinged at the top of the duct, not at all. My 2011 ingested so much rain, it washed the under maintained air cleaner out in my engine. With catastrophic results! Fast forward, with my 2021 I avoid anything beyond a drizzle. A rain deflector or bypass would be useful.
Cool bro....does it get a warning light or some kind error in the dash when you remove the flaps? what I'm trying to say is does it need remap, to delete on the ECU?
I believe it goes along with the servo and when you remove that you get a light. I’m pretty sure when you remove the cables the flap is stuck open and won’t move. So you don’t really need to remove it if you don’t want to. Removing the flap won’t give you a light just the servo and all the emissions stuff.
So what's this mod for? Got a 2016 krt and i daily ride. Not even sure why there's a flap in there to begin with. Doesn't seem like an issue to delete if i don't exactly require the weight reduction
But one piece I did see on both of ours may not be worth the work for ya but the bottom of the intake box has a giant obstruction that could be dremeled out and smooth for way more air flow right at the bottom after the duct not sure if y’all noticed it
@@adamgarza1874 if the bike is not tuned it may run slightly lean due to getting a little more air flow. As for the plug i believe it will throw a code if left disconnected. The hoses dont matter just the electrical connection.

most complete explanation i saw for this bike, helped me a lot thanks !!

Best video on this topic! Thanks for the links to parts as well.
Thanks! And no problem!

It’s the perfect thing to do if you’re going to replace the dash. A good excuse to do it anyway lol
What’s the part number for the plug?
Great video bro
Can you post the part numbers for the parts you used.
Thank you .
I have the links for them in the description. They should take you to the exact ones you need
Many thanks bro about this video ❤

What windscreen is that
I just get a 19 zx10 soo .. what is the benefit to do that? Just to get more air flow? Or ?? 👀
Yeah just more air flow
Couldn't you just flash the ECU to keep the ram air flapper open at all times?
But then it’s still on the inside and Antowan is a perfectionist. And he would say “weight savings” 😂
Would that mess with low end removing the flap
It shouldn’t because the Ram air deals more with top speed
@@harVentures yea just realized it’s not even in my bike must be a emission thing like y’all thought

Yup he did that as well. Can’t remember if we did a video on that or not. It may have been in a different video
@@harVentures ahhh nice yea wasn’t in this one I must have missed it..! Nice good deal bro did y’all ever dyno it, would be a good vid
Does that mod have any negative effects for a daily ridden bike??
Also did you leave that censor plugged in on 6:50 ? And does it throw a code to leave the hoses out of it, if you did leave it plugged in?

@@blu3bomberX thanks bro. Much appreciated
I'm glad I don't have to do that modification again.
Antowan makes everything look easy so it’s hard to judge the difficulty level lol
