I believe Chrollo is what Gon had become if killua is not in his side.

I love how HxH can have an arc when one of the protagonists (Kurapika) is painted in a way where he seems to be the villain, while the actual villains get developed in a way where you start seeing them as these normal missguided people who care deeply about eachother, in their own weird way.
Togashi really knows how to write characters, and him making Kurapika this bland, cliche shonen type at the beginning, to later use that as a way for readers to want to side with the villains is just genius. And then having the main character (Gon) actually be neutral, understanding the perspective of both parties just adds to all of it.
Most other writers would just have the main characters try and fight the villains, thus making you look at them as pure evil villains, when in reality, its never that simple.
it is when they kill an entire clan for their eyes lol their all cringe pyscho serial killers who cares

Attack on Titan season 4 is way better than this lmao. Kurapika doesn't give off the villain type to me

the fact that gon and killua stopped kurapika from killing the mastermind of a crime organization that has probably killed a lot of people and stole a shit ton is...well, choices.
He probably realized he drove himself into a corner and just copped out
They actually saved him; if kurapika killed chrollo, then the whole troupe would have been on his ass, and now they know how he looks like and his abilities. Besides, he caught a fever right after the arc, so he would have been extremely weak. By not killing chrollo, the troupe decided to stop caring for him because otherwise kurapika death would have probably strenghtned the judgment chain on chrollo's heart, killing him in the process
that was a choice
Chrollo values the members of the troupe more than himself. That's why he was pissed when Hisoka killed Shalnark and Kortopi.
Chrollo is a true leader 😢
@@ender5892 So was hitler lmao
@@ender5892So true, a real leader that mercilessly murdered an entire clan and dismember their corpses 😢
Honestly, the fact that the Phantom Troupe *do* care about each other makes the fact that they committed genocide against the Kurta even worse. They killed an entire race of people, brutally and heartlessly, forcing them to watch as they slaughtered their loved ones so that their eyes would turn a more vibrant shade and be more valuable. But they know full well how much it hurts to lose someone *they* care about, so not only are they monsters, they're hypocritical monsters.
Pakunoda deserved this death. No amount of narrative framing or showing that she cares about the other members of the troupe makes her less of a monster who committed unspeakable acts of evil.
That is a very good point, actually. A bunch of emotionless robots committing atrocities is not quite as potent as a bunch of thinking and feeling people committing atrocities despite the obvious suffering they cause.
That's what makes the Troupe bad people. They care about their own group but no one else's. I think Togashi knows that when writing them, and there's this intentional dissonance between what you see (a group of friends that care for each other and are ready to give their lives for one another) and the fact that they're monsters that feel nothing at killing, stealing from, and deceiving countless others. The reason they're like that is because they're from Meteor City, a place that's denied by the rest of the world, so they basically said "well then we don't care about the rest of the world either and we'll make sure you can't ignore us"
I will never not laugh at Gon and Killua running into the two troupe members at the auction lmao

knowing what we know about the origins of the troupe does make this very sad. especially since chrollo and pakunoda were close friends/lovers for a long time. so i can probably imagine that even someone as death blind as chrollo would be hurt upon hearing that pakunoda died.
Sure, let’s just forget the fact that for the previous 19 episodes, she and her pals were slaughtering literally hundreds of people. And so what if they were mafia? I doubt even the gangsters in this world have committed anywhere close to the same level of atrocities as Phantom Troupe

THE PAIN!!!!! This scene changes completely after the flashback, especially with the Boss potentially having feelings for Pakunoda. When they pass each other hits hard.
The dynamics between the kids and the Troupe is INSANE, they look nothing alike while at the same time feel like their younger version that was stripped by the brutality of the world. The Spiders became so cynical and analytical that they lost touch with their human emotions, only after Gon's words they decided to BET THEIR LIVES, the whole Troupe, the family they fought so much to protect, because of one beloved member. That was AMAZING.
"The pack survives" but at that moment Chrollo was almost the only one. I think Danshou accepted this fate a long time but he would certainly get distraught; as for me it's quite hard know how i feel, they certainly do not look like their innocent kids version and it's hard to judge them the same way and say they wouldn't deserve some Karmic punishment.
But one thing is certain, Kurapika and the Troupe are not so different, especially in the current arc he looks like saw things that couldn't be unseen and became much more brutal, even sacrificing innocents for his goals like they're nothing.
When did kurapika sacrificed innocents for his goal,he even temporarily is putting his goal aside to protect prince woble
Kurapika would never sacrifice an innocent for his goal
@@dragodraco7511 He did with Prince Momose and is not sure how loyal he is to Oito and how truer and for how long his words are going to be, you cannot believe him just cause he said so, this is game of lies. He seems to have returned more gray after the eyes adventure, but i believe after that wake up call he will return to a more righteous stand, if the plot lets him, i think it will make things more difficult which can be good as a writer.

After reading the childhood arc recently this is extremely sad 😔
I almost cried in her death. I’ve never actually cried in someone’s death or a sad moment so this is possibly my first time. It feels like I was emotionally attached to her automatically. This probably feels very cringey to read but I had this feeling I don’t know how to explain while watching her death scene. She was my fave phantom troupe member 😭 she’s often disliked because of her clothes (I did too) but after she got more screentime (when Kurapika blackmails her to come near the airport) I started to like her more. And after her death scene, I was almost in tears.
Edit: i’m still in Greed Island arc so if i’m feeling sad in only this much, then I don’t what will happen in the Komugi and Meruem death scene-
did you also cry at kurapika's clan being slaughtered and farmed like animals by these psychopaths you cried for?
@@Rosemaker_ Togashi never really developped the actual murder of the kuruta clan like he did with the phantom troupes's humanity in the anime. Find me an episode where we really see kurapika crying so hard on that incident, or find me any other member of the kuruta clan that we can be sad of. Frrrr
I will forever say this. HunterxHunter has some of the best character development and writing I've seen out of many animes.
Togashi writes in a way where you can clearly see how the characters and their reality, just like ours, are not all black and white. People are good and bad, but not for no reason. They have intentions, pasts and trauma that heavily tie into why they are who they are, and most importantly, why they progressed into who they did. They had growth in their pasts but also growth that we could witness in the show, and the best part is how this was not limited to just the hero characters. Even for characters with little screen time and villains like Pakunoda. She was seemingly baselessly evil up until the final moments of her life where we witnessed her humanity. Those few moments managed to change the perspective and views of many who disliked her, but not entirely! We knew and hated how she did terrible things, but we still sympathized when we were shown how she still had empathy, a softer side and a want to do good in some way before the end. Likewise, the hero characters like gon and netero were not seen entirely as such by the viewers by the end, and people still loved them but had gripes with their actions and decisions during the show.
Once again, superb writing. R.I.P to her, she became one of my fave characters in the show later on.
lol so she had a heart, didn't seem like it when she threatened squala with eliza even though he couldn't do anything against them, togashi can try to paint the phantom troupe as a bunch of misguided robin hoods for a year and that still wouldn't change the fact that they need to be culled one at a time, with chrollo being the last to die
What episode is this?

7:33 i'm crying, this is really beautiful
So many people in the comments are missing the point of the entire scene. Some people (shounen fans) just can't handle villains having even an ounce of humanity left in them and certainly can't handle the moral conundrum of the main character finding out a heartless monster you want wiped away brutally actually still has a scrap of a heart left. This scene shows that even after everything kurapika still has his heart and humanity.
These Troupe scenes have more weight after the recent chapters. Chrollo felt that whole caring about your friends more than vengance thing
with the latest manga chapter I feel bad now to spiders and uvogin death they are so innocent when they are kids and you can feel mc vibes when they want to be a performer not a bunch of killers but there something happen in their childhood that turn them in to monsters.
Just like any murderer they innocent at first

4:37 🗿
she really should just wait for nen exorcist before informing them lol
That would be a problem tho. Keep in mind that the phantom troupe almost had a civil war until it was subdued by Franklin when he told them the worst-case scenario. But he mentioned that if Chrollo doesn't come back, they'll kill the ones being manipulated (i.e., Paku) and find new members. So, if paku didn't share the info when Chrollo didn't come back with her, she would've died anyways. Also, they might target Kurapika without knowing his ability is made specifically to beat the spiders. So, the best course of action for her at that time was to share her memories to protect them. Truly worth the sacrifice in paku's eyes.
this hits different after 395....
WHEN SHE DID MEOW I CAN'T FORGET
I always watch HxH without favoring the character ideals.
That world is cruel from the get go, normal people can't even understand how they die if the killer uses Nen.
In the end, everyone is fighting for their own ideals, their own goals. Even someone like Gon can be driven by revenge and bloodlust.
Even those in the Troupe has feelings like normal people.
They're all fighting for something, some have a moral code while others are willing to do anything to make it happen.
Sorry, but no amount of "moral code" is going to make massacring innocents good or acceptable in any way.
@@olivercharles2930 I'm not saying doing those things are acceptable. I'm just saying that I see the world of Hunter x Hunter as a viewer that doesn't show favoritism towards certain characters when it comes to moral.
I will not say Pakunoda is a good person. But at the same time I won't say Killua as one either. Granted he was raised to be a weapon and to assassinate his targets. There are still blood in his hands.
Same thing with Gon, he was willing to let Komugi, an innocent bystander, die in order to get his revenge against Neferpitou. Or how Colt despite gaining humanity and siding with Kite, he still killed innocents and fed them to the Ant Queen.
My point is, like in real life, everybody is a protagonist in their own story even if they do terrible things.
