I played airsoft once, it is fun. But I do not agree with the fact that mil-sim can not translate to airsoft. It absolutely can when training correct. You could apply the same strategy as used in military training. The problem is, that most of them actually think they are SF and get cocky.
I play it often I’ve seen those guys take it seriously but a lot of those guys are your wanna be super tactical dudes but a lot of the more laid back guys are usually actual instructors and vets or jus chill dudes
in my country ( holland ) its funny because i come from the shooting sports side and recently went into airsoft because some guys i play video games with invited me over and i liked it but on the shooting sports side the dynamic disciplines like parkour shooting we are not allowed to wear pouches and other clothing that is in camouflage colours because thats to militaristic yet on airsoft they walk in 1000's euros of gear and uniforms and no one says a damn thing about it and yes i must admit i have a uniform myself but it makes no sense that in the shooting sports its not allowed because they think we are training for combat and all that and i hear no one complain about airsoft where they use smoke grenades pyrogrenades and vehicles with armor and bb machineguns on it and also there are so many whiney cringy people in airsoft that is completly true but the worst is that most of em are like 30+ old people and not even like the people in their early 20's like me
I can honestly say as a veteran with years of experience and tours, I get my arse kicked playing airsoft all day and on console games. Kids think differently and are fearless.
I can see that. Like video games. They know its just a sting or loss of video game life, so they go hard without fear. My comments in the video could go from airsoft or gun range D bags. Its more just whiners that ruin it.
Bro, I played paintball while was on active duty, and it was fun especially I get opposite team guy on inside the thigh and they cry. In real tours, when bullets bouncing of dirt piles infront of me, I ain't getting up and rushing shit. They are fearless bc there is nothing to be afraid off.
Main thing between playing war and being in one is soldiers trained for mental and physical toughness bc being able to squeeze trigger is a tip of an iceberg of being a soldier. Physical and mental stress firefight puts on you is so high, if you weak, you might forget how to even squeeze a trigger when enemy pointing gun at you. During my deployments, I have seen good soldiers completely fail to protect themselves or others and lose any ability advance. Your visuals, noises and understanding what can and may be will happen to you when you get hit by shit can be extremely frightening, its not your imagination its what you see already happened to other guys. Can never compare combat to playing combat especially CQB, close quarters battle, i.e. inside buildings. War is ugly bitch. I am retired combat vet, with extensive injuries and almost lost limb and 27 confirmed kills (thats not counting what hasn't been recorded.) often after different battles, you simply can't even right up correct report on enemy forces that have been taken out. It's a fucking mess. A lot of time you don't think, you train a lot and same ah8t over and over, so when stress is beyond comorehendable, you go on autopilot and just duxking survive this shit. No thinking. Clap clap clap next room, grenade boom, back missed a guy clap clap clap, my buddy down, medic, no medic, moving forward clap clap clap, you take to in a chest plate, fall backwards on your ass use your feet to push off to any cover as boy behind takes out your ticket puncher, extend his arm, you grab it, on your feet, pop mag check rounds, lock and load and back at clapping following guys who are now ahead of you. By this time you look back and other medic made it to you boy, they dragging him out. You think "stay alive bro, I am gonna dust these bitches, skin alive, cut their head off and fuxk them in a hole where had use to be, fuck it. I am God of war, God of War, I am not dying today for my country, I am gonna let those fucks die for their country, you keep telling yourself inside your head. As gun shots, explosions, screams and dust blocking everything in your head, but you blocking it all off and concentrate on your teammate screaming commands or moves they make, its essential to stay alive. That's why they say once a combat veteran no matter what branch, your mentality is extremely different from an average guy. You can concentrate in a middle of chaos on few things and nothing will interrupt you,not fear, not pain, not anger. Having clear head in hell, thats what makes a good soldier/marine. Etc. YOU DONT FRACTURE UNDER ANY TYPE OF PRESSURE OR STRESS. But you will end up with bad ptsd, and it will kick in when its al behind you and done and over with. It will eat at you, just can't help it.
@@K1NGBabyLegs I mean, if you could legally do it I'm sure many people would. I swear I can imagine you in that sport suit, standing next to the wall, with the duallies, count to three and rush out yelling while it starts to become slow motion, you down two, shoot at a can, that explodes, and you just run through it. I dont even know you.

Personally, i think both ways of playing airsoft are gnarly. Its cool to have a serious-ish milsim game when everyone agrees on rules etc. and its also fun to run and gun screaming leroy jenkins in close quarter games lol
At the end of the day balance is key, if you only do hardcore milsim even when others are run and gunning youll never have fun and neither will others the same way if you run and gun when others are milsimming youll get hated on and wont have fun. As long as you balance both out and keep it realistic but also have sessions where you remember its just a game its alright. Balance is key everywhere.
That's it. I think the video was made by a sad guy who gets angry seem people being happy doing that they like. Even wearing special units uniform, patches and all, they are not pretending to be a specialized soldier. It's just to look cool in the game and have fun
Airsoft was good for me because it was a fun workout. I actually went from being a 300lb school teacher, dropping a hundred lbs, and joined the Army as an 11B. So it was a good sport for me, however we had a few guys that stepped into the realm of stolen valor, which doesnt fly considering how many veterans play.
Airsoft looks like a great work out a good way to kill some time. Better than sitting inside playing video games or staring at Instagram. Thanks for the comment.
Jamesons Travels I would love to try airsoft but I can’t afford all the stuff they use and my parents arnt gonna take me places all the time so I play video games a lot
I’d play airsoft often a few years back, and I’d wear a full green arrow cosplay costume and run around with a single green gas pistol with an extended mag. It was fun because when you’re wearing a costume it would kinda help the people there remember it’s just a game. These mil sim dudes running in with a fictional superhero really makes them look silly when they get a little too into it.
i genuily run like a silly cod caracter not crouched like tactical nd stuff , i just Run but wiggle my gun side to side i have been killed so many times but its always fun
Requirements to use airsoft for real combat training: - Proper equipment. - Proper instructor. - Proper attitude. - No toxic participant. Requirements to use airsoft for fun and games: - No toxic participant.
Airsoft plays more like a first person shooter than actual military stuff lol. We playing real life call of duty, not training to join the military. 100 percent agree my man
The argument the guy stayed was d bags and people who cared about the rank signs on their suits. Not people who wanted to take the actual gameplay seriously. Ranks have nothing to do with gameplay, except for the tactical purposes such as assigning squadron leader.
"Do you know who your talking to? I'm a expert airsoft operator! I've been to more feilds than 90 percent of everyone in the us! I have the highest spec NVG gear and 500 dollar genuine eotech holographic sights for all of my 600 guns I've collected!"
Spot on! Arrogant armanisofters shaped my attitudes from the getgo when I started playing airsoft some 13 years ago. Eventually we started calling ourselves the US Baby Seals and making seal sounds in the forests to filter out that kind of people. It worked immediately and ironically we also had a way of easily identifying our teammates without much more than a quick noise. Noone knew what was going on but us, as we ran around doing that x'D
I'm ex-infantry myself, and I play airsoft now a days. MOST real steel tactics are not applicable, but can be used as a guide to help in certain situations. In terms of training or practice for real life stuff, airsoft really only helps with weapon handling, some CQB stuff like room clearing, and target acquisition.
When i played airsoft years ago there were loads of Marines (real ones) and they treated it like the fun game that it is, just like loads of Marines love Call of Duty. It’s good stress relief sometimes.
My brother plays with his sons in their air soft games and he's a retired green beret. It's funny too cause my nephews are all geared up and my brother shows up with just a t-shirt, cargo pants, his old combat boots, a baseball hat, and his shooting glasses and he's only armed with 2 pistols and a 3 fake grenades and scream "Leeroy Jenkins!". My nephews would get so embarrassed sometimes cause some guys would say "Who is that crazy guy running around like that?" and they would be like "Yea, that's our dad. He's a green beret."
I played airsoft in high school, I loved it. I met a member of the hobby team through a law enforcement/firefighting academy during my senior year in HS/Votech. It was about 20 of us kids, all in fun, but we took it seriously. We had a patch of woodland we used to simulate raids, I had some hunting camouflage that I used to great effect sneaking up on individuals. a year and a half later, I was in the airborne infantry, using paint rounds during field problems. Airsoft is great fun, it's a game that can give you great exercise, and even a bit of training if you play alongside like minded people, using legitimate tactics.
“Some people use military tactics” My primitive cave man ass: (proceeds to rush the enemy line hip firing a MG42 and listing to rave music in my head set)
I remember playing with a vet. He was more immature than the youngest kid I've ever played with. Cheated, complained, and constantly calling the ref. This guy invested so much money into airsoft with a lot of expensive airsoft guns and gear. These kind of people suck playing with especially when you have to pay a fee. Getting stuck with them you kinda have to play until they leave. I liked running around and playing in the dirt and hiding in bushes it more active than sitting at home playing cod.
Depending on the vet I would think. I saw an airsoft video that a ODA guy stayed back and kept the heavier, less in shape guys going. He could of been running up front but he stayed back.
@@dschnauzer11 I should be completely specific and say that not every vet is a terrible sport. I know some cool vets that Id like to pick over others but that guy was a cringe-pile. Who completely Guccis out a gun that shoots plastic bb's? I would always be annoyed driving up to the field and seeing his truck.
@@duckboom950 He mainly bothered the ref to say people were cheating(not calling their hits) but it would turn out to be false most of the time. Just because this guy had all the best stuff in his gun doesn't mean the bb's shoot in a straight line or go through cover. I even came up on his whole team once with a flank and instead of shooting them close quarters I just said bang bang to all of them. He turned around and said I didn't get him as his whole team starts walking to spawn. Ain't that a bitch!? Lol
Went paint balling for the first time today and there was like 10 blokes fully dressed up in military gear taking it way to seriously with patches calling each other captain or whatever, felt cool to run around and shoot paintballs at people and was great exercise, 4 hours of running around climbing jumping etc gives you a different perspective on some people do that in real life as their jobs and major respect to them! Would definitely do it again! Would love to try air soft
Thankfully I would say that those kind of guys are kinda rare in paintball. I've been playing for a few years now and I've never met any like that. I even play magazine fed paintball which is more mil-sim and would attract more of those types, but nope most mag-fed guys just dress up for fun.
Nothing made me prouder when I was playing paintball at a friends birthday and it was me, vs the rest of the people there (I had 1v4 destroyed the other team prior) and won. I love paintball but kind of want to get into airsoft

I met a guy once who tried to enlist in the marines but tore his ACL i believe (i could be misremembering) and he was heartbroken he couldn’t enlist. His idea was if i cant join i’ll live my life (to an extint) like i am. He trained (once he healed) like a soldier, he hung out with soldiers and copied their diet and training regimen, he got better with weapons. He tried to live vicariously but he NEVER had had any false identification towards what he was. He was a civilian who was INSPIRED by the USMC because he didn’t qualify. I think THAT is totally acceptable he never acted like a big shot. He never tried to steal valor or anything. He gave them the respect they deserve while trying to be the best he could be. THAT is how people should treat airsoft if they want to take it seriously. Don’t have some holier than though mentality. Its a fun game that you can act like a kid during. Dont get delusional. Have fun and feel free to take it a little serious but never forget this is a game
Airsoft isn't military training, but it can be used as military training, but that also doesn't mean that it becomes military training. Some police forces also use airsoft guns like these, and Navy SEALs also used guns similar to these in training.
@@masonallison2495 Last I checked, SEALs use sim-rounds. Something like a paintball put on the tip of a low power bullet. They hurt like a b*tch (far more than BB's or paintballs) and function like real bullets. They wear protection when using them because they can do serious damage if they hit you above the shoulders. They certainly don't use air soft guns.
@@Warrior_Culture That's also why I said they use guns similar to these, and I know they use sim rounds. I don't think that means that they don't or won't use airsoft guns. I didn't even mention anything about rounds anyways. I just talked about the guns that are used. If there's a name for a gun that shoots sim rounds, and it's not an airsoft or paintball gun, please let me know.
@@masonallison2495 Yes, it's called a gun. Sim rounds fire out of regular weapons. They use the same casing and primer as real bullets, but much lower velocity. So by "guns like these" you mean the same shape, sure lol.

He also shoots a player on his left as he rounds a corner not checking his right side and when he does check there is 3 enemy players not 5 feet from him and we are meant to believe not one of them shot him
I agree, the people who insist on telling you every 5 minutes that 'its not the same' and 'stop getting so involved you're not in the army' are just as bad.
@Viper I tried paintball once and it was useless & frustrating as hell. I've shot real guns all my life and I'm very good at it, but with paintball, I'd unload 20 rounds and watch every ball fly all around my target. The inaccuracy was impossible to work with.
@@chrismccarty5522 "I mean so you would be ok some guy that works at a print shop demanding you call him colonel? It's the craziest thing I've ever heard of..." Really? You have captains in sports for example at least here in soccer. I mean do people get annoyed when a soccer captain is called captain?
It's just roleplay i dont find that silly if it's what you like. It's start to be cringe if it's not just for the day and you expect to be the commander everytime or if you try to make a realistic military ranking. But near were i live there was an airsoft association who do game over 36h the weekend and they roleplay, it seems to be good guys and of course they are totally normal in real life, but for 36h on is sergent the other major and the next week end it's change according to the "scenario" of the game. At least it'not more dumb than other type of roleplay, like pretending you are an elf and you friend a dwarf.
I was at a airsoft event, during a game I called out a target to my buddy, after that game back in the safe zone a teenage kid comes up to me and my buddy and tells us we used the wrong call out. Yeah...
Maybe my story was lacking details and some people of the internet can’t quite get the subtitles of a summarised story . I’d been playing airsoft for about 10yrs at that point, my buddy is ex-army, the kid was actually incorrect in what he was saying and the way he approached and told us was just rude.
@@kaloyandraganov9462 theres really no wrong way to call out a target in the real world. the only thing that ever matters is radio usage because someones always monitoring it
Trust me, most airsoft people in the community hates these same type of people. I think it's effective for shooting and more so, teamwork, but it's far from military training.
Yea there's also a difference between running tactical and running MilSim. Running tactical means going slow, checking all your corners, pushing when the time is right, using grenades and lights and such. Running MilSim means running a squad equipped with full plate carriers, mid-low cap mags, radios, sign language, night vision(should there even be a need for it), and strobing every doorway, window, and corner.
I didn't even know there were people who took it seriously lol I thought this was gonna be a video about cheaters and cry babies (I don't play airsoft, just watched some online compilations)

See, as a soldier of 13 years and a well established NCO, I really enjoy airsoft milsim events. I am very cognisant of the fact that many kids play and don't call their hits. And if there's one thing that does piss me off, it's those mf's that fire full auto at 20rounds/sec. Otherwise, with standard weapons, I really do like them.

This is the exact reason I quit playing. I’ve been playing paintball for 15 years and ran in nation wide tournaments for a few of those years, so I played airsoft like paintball - aggressive, same posture and form, diving and sliding the same, snap shooting, etc. and I wore my paintball pants and mask just because they’re comfy and protective and I already owned them. You can’t aim properly with a pb mask so you have to use an awkward pull and grip. One time a game organizer ran up to me and started screaming about my grip, stance, this isn’t paintball, and how you’d never fire a real weapon like that - after I just absolutely smoked half the other team in a run-through and took the obj. I replied “so what it’s not a real gun and I just got 8 kills in 10 seconds because I’m playing it like paintball” He was just out for me because I was obviously a paintball player and wasn’t larping like the other guys running gear that cost 10x more than my $130 AEG with a hicap mag. That was the last time I went. The community in my area is nowhere as chill and fun as the paintball community. Paintball doesn’t try to be something it isn’t unless you’re going to a scenario game, and even then it only goes so far as setting up fun rules and objs to fit the theme of the game.
Sorry you had to go through that. I've been to almost every field within a 2 hour drive from my house and have only had 1 instance of that happen to me. It was a casual King of the Hill game outdoors with no minimum engagement distance for FPS under 350. I had flanked around the side of the field, in bounds, and wiped most of the enemy team from behind with my DMR build from about 50 feet(minimum distance for my build was 40), and one of the refs came up and yelled at me that this wasn't some MilSim op and I can't be playing the game all sneaky and strategic like I was because that's not fair for others, and I ended up getting the game coordinator out to settle this and I guess the guy gave all "non casual" players a hard time cuz he had different standards for how the game should be played. The problem was I didn't even really have to sneak around while I was flanking the enemy was just not paying attention to their flanks and it cost them. Again, sorry that happened to you, and I hope if you ever move to the Pacific North West you'll give the fields and arenas a try cuz the community is almost always chill af and we welcome everyone like brothers and sisters.

@@l4st_s4mur4i I dont have too much experience with airsoft, but I do play Onward (a VR milsim game) competitively on a team. My take on this is that if a strategy works, it's fair game. From a competitive perspective, the strategy that you refer to as speedsofting is not too effective if the opposition team knows how to pick their angles, know how to actually use cover, and understand team layout. Just like airsoft, Onward has a very low ttk, so I think its fair to say skills can transfer. Generally on my team we have one person lag behind as a sort of "flanker insurance". In the league, generally pulling crazy rushes like that is considered a lower tiered strategy because it works really well when they are in a pub game or against newer teams, but as they climb the ranks, they find that running out in the open will put them at a disadvantage to the person who just barely has their head poking out of cover. In pub lobbies, being at such an angle disadvantage can still be compensated for by just having good aim and a faster reaction time, but when you play competitively you cant expect to have that advantage anymore. Especially in larger areas where the rusher has to scan basically every potential spot within 180° for a potential threat, whilst it only takes one person in good cover watching one, maybe two expected routs a rusher might take take to stop that push.
the one really valuable skill that airsoft might help instill in people (especially young kids just getting into the sport, or people who one day plan to use real firearms for hunting, sport, or military apps) is gun safety; knowing where your weapon is pointed, muzzle and trigger etiquette, making sure your safety is on, etc. Definitely not the same as real firearms, but a good intro. Really cool insights in this vid :)
theyre almost identical to firearms wym😂 gbb rifles are basically the same thing just different bullets and airsoft rifle skills can be used when you eventually move onto real ones
i went to play airsoft today, i have military experience so i know how to handle real firearms. You don't want to know how often i've told people not to flag me in the safe zone and when clearing buildings/tunnels. when i'm wearing my mask its not a big deal but when you're in the safezone where no one is wearing a mask you really have to be aware of it even though no one is. Playing airsoft made me respect the people who protect my country even more. Even though it's a game it does make it painfully obvious that something as simple as walking through the wrong door could get you killed if it were for real.
In places like Afghanistan or Iraq every tree, house, foliage, car, hill or group of civilians could have a gun aiming at you. So a simple patrol means you have to be 100% switched on. When you see movies and characters are on patrol and they are talking about things that are pure distracting you know it is not close to being real. You are thinking who the hell would be saying something like that right now.
Also FF .. you realise that you shot your own in real life you would have killed your brother in arms. I think Airsoft could be a very nice stepping stone if people would learn and dont be ignorent ... same for trigger discipline.

This is why I got out of Airsoft. When I was in High School it was really fun because I just played with some friends. Then after I got out of BCT and Infantry School, I got invited to a mil-sim type thing. The guy that invited me was a friend of my brothers, and after we played and had fun, he asked me to take a look at his packet. This guy, who never served a day in his life, wanted me to join his "Company" that had obligations like, weekly company runs, weekend squad tactics. He even created a fake rank system. This guy was trying to create his own version of the Army because he had too many bad raps on his record to actually join for real. He had a legit contract written up. This is why I will never return to it unless my veteran buddies invite me. I will play with down to earth people. Not people wanting an alternate reality to be real.
@BHG WOLF487 look I understand being denied what could be your greatest honor in life, but if you want to so something similar that is more practical, join a tactical shooting team like USPSA or USCCA. Don't larp in airsoft. Take care brother.
Man it sucks the "sport" was ruined for you like that. In most of the milsim events I've been to 99% of the players treated it like it's meant to be treated: a fun game. But then there's always that occasional group of either grown ass men or 16 yr old kids that think their SF in the fight of their lives. Do what you want obviously but don't be afraid to give it another try at a local field. Those can be a lot more of a "casual" environment.
I think it's fine to roleplay semi-seriously for the sake of immersion, or act competitively to get that win. As long as everyone recognizes it for what it is and nobody is forced into something they don't want, there's no problem with airsoft itself. It's just like a video game, except outside - and as such, there are more and less serious approaches to the theme.
Pretty much, except if someones booked a serious milsim and they all have their fancy ranks, formations, group structure and tactics sorted out. Let them have their fun and if you dont want to follow their rules just leave. it's that simple. Let people play, beach volleyball isnt serious either but you're gonna be kicked off the sand if you dont play volleyball.

And one pack of MRE's is a lot heavier and takes a lot more room than your own store bought shit.
Steven Ohakwe I’m not gonna just waste perfectly good military MREs on being a coach potato. That’s a waste of money and a big middle digit to the people who made it. These things are supposed to last a while right? Could store them away until the 24 hour and 2 day airsoft matches come back.
its not about that, these slovakian army guys got called so many times that they just cheat and dont called a hits (like evergreen in airsoft) and some times people were right. It was not about that didnt want to play fair play, it was because of their training when they just "push until they drop out" and when people like that sometimes just dont feel the hit of bbs. People who play airsoft are more aware of that than an army guy who is more likely to be aware of his surroundings that flying bbs.
Airsoft is just Call of Duty IRL so don't be surprised you'll see squeakers or people who claim they know everything because they've play games that has tactics on it.
the doctor airsoft even in a milsim event, the game is structured around toy guns, most of which have a max engagement distance of around 200 ft. In a lot of cases you end up with people who can see each other awkwardly trying to maneuver around each other to get into distance. You can still learn a lot of stuff from airsoft like manual of arms, kit selection and placement, but marksmanship isn’t one of them. You can also learn a lot of the same things from video games depending on the person and what they try to use the activity for. But at the end of the game of airsoft is a sport and in most cases can be fairly analogized to a real life version of a video game including especially the types of people you find in the community, a spectrum ranging from people that just want to have fun, to try hards, to toxic members and everything in between.
I play airsoft but a little different, Basically me and my friends dress as crusaders and rush while screaming TAKE BACK THE HOLY LAND, yeah we don't succeed alot.
@@firestarters9308 It is, it really is. Costs alot of money though since you gotta by crusader outfits shields one handed airsoft guns and it just costs a whole lot
There’s another side to airsoft called speedsoft where you basically just rush with you gun and a paintball mask on. You usually just wear sneakers, sweats, a hoodie, and a beanie. It’s much more fun with no military tactics involved.
I've got a friend who literally almost single-handedly captured the enemy flag with a pistol in one hand and a can of root beer in the other. That's speedsofting right there.
I don't have anything against speedsoft as a gameplay style. I just like wearing camo, using realistic looking guns and playing outside. In fact, a friend of mine is more of a speed softer.
I could see learning how to maneuver a weapon around cover/concealment, or communicating with a team could be a takeaway, but it couldn't ever be the same as being in a real fight.
Also, when no one is taking it seriously the guy with the fastest reflexes in the sport tends to get a lot of kills. Similar to why COD players with the fastest internet get all the kills. It's not actual military training, but it can help teach you the mindset of seek your enemy and destroy them, lol
@Lloyd Christmas People with the best connection in a lobby, don't necessarily get all the kills. I would agree with your statement a few years ago though. According to my experience when you weren't the host of the game, and the game was hosted by someone really far away (let's say someone from European servers joins an American server), you'd definitely feel the disadvantage. In addition, when you live in a place where the possibility of a decent internet connection is physically absent in the means of no actual cables being laid out in that area whatsoever, you can definitely forget to play any online multiplayer games, as your ping would go up into the thousands sometimes. Luckily, as of a few years ago, they have laid out cables in our town. The internet has gotten exceptionally better since then; but that hasn't given me any advantages at all.
@Lloyd Christmas I have always tried to stay respectful even though it's "just the internet". Plus, I might be just as clueless on that topic as anyone else here.. just wanted to share what I have experienced personally :D
@Fondil Mahbols it’s not in reference to the casual player.. It’s in reference to the people who ruin the fun by demanding that others call them “sarge” or try bringing in strategies from real war. If you want to be called by the title and give order, during a fun day out.. the man yeah, go join the army big man 😂
@@Wanderingwalker-ke6mg the rank thing is obviously retarded, I personally can't join any military due to physical and mental problems so "hardcore" milsim is the closest I'll ever get to experiencing real combat. Still the whole eating MREs and demanding people to salute is a bit too far. Although if it was part of a milsim I think I'd be up for it
Because I can't and have a chronic disease. Although I don't take it this seriously. I see it as playing call of duty in real life. I like the sport a lot and have a lot of fun
@@Wanderingwalker-ke6mg I think its fine to take it past playing casually. There is alot of enjoyment to be had by playing things competitively. I agree, people shouldn't be delusional and think airsoft is real life, but I dont think its in any way bad to try and encorporate real military strategy in a competitive environment. On my team (not airsoft, but similar) when we first started playing competitively, we were looking for a way to build up some system of strategy. We were faced with two(ish) options: 1: build all of our strategy from scratch by trial and error or by talking game theory and pouring over maps, or two- studying already established techniques that are used for combat in the military (or other competitive teams). We went with a mix of both. Then through testing them out in scrim we used what worked, and got rid of what did not. Throughout that whole time we never even considered that what we were doing was actually analogous to real life. We took it seriously, but had all the more fun for it.
I mean it is fun and can be a cool thing to roleplay a little too, especially if it's related to history. But the problem lies with when you stray from reality and think you are your "character." I would love to see those guys actually enlist and see how far they get.
@@legendary6790 Yeah. I mean, I get really into airsoft when I go. However, I would never have the bravery to enlist and get into combat. Those are two completely different things.
Thanks for this video I'm from Argentina, I started playing airsoft recently because I wanted to be a marine in my youth but I couldn't. This sport gave me the opportunity to play a role, of course, I knew it would be far from reality, but I decided to try and be serious about learning, I looked for tactics and put effort into it. But I started noticing the high level of toxicity that took the fun out of everything, people with some kind of experience blaming everyone and not accepting the defeat. At one point I was in a corridor listening to the sound of markers and explosions, and it dawned on me how hard the life of a military man must be, the high degree of experience and determination that is required, and that day I decided to have fun and take the opportunity to learn because I understood that any discipline that you practice it will always give you a small advantage when it comes to resolving situations, but that depends on our determination and willpower. With Airsoft I am setting up my mind to resolve situations, think faster and adapt. This can be useful in any state of your life. And the toxic people can not do that, and the worst, can not enjoy it.
I’m the guy running around with a ushanka on my head and a fur coat with a tt33 and a can of pink lemonade in the other hand that’s what I operate with
I’ve been playing airsoft for nearly a year now and have no experience in the military and completely agree that there are some people that take it way to seriously but those kinda people usually go to “popular” airsoft sites, the site I play at it’s a local site and everyone there is super friendly and I’d say 95% of the community is nice and helpful it is a very small percentage that ruin the fun by being either cheaters or using crappy tactics or taking it overly seriously, but a lot of the time the stuff on RUclips is faked so they can get clicks from my experience I’ve had so much fun and encourage anyone to start or try and get into the sport look around your area if there are any local sites and see how to get in touch

There's also grown men and women playing video games nowadays... This was considered weird too before gaming became main stream. In the end though Airsoft is nothing but a game. Some people take it to serious yea but it still a game and meant to be for entertainment just like paintball. Its all about perspective and having an open mind nothing more.

@@mondaysinsanity8193 Exactly. It's fine to play airsoft as an adult but to take it seriously, get overly mad when you lose and pretend like your some kind of Spec Ops guy when your not is very weird.
Grown men tackling a leather ball and risking their spines seems weirder to me... As long as they aren't claiming to be a real soldier when they're not, I see no problem.

Allied military bro who has a pretty heavy hand in airsoft here. Some of the stuff you learn in the military can apply very well to airsoft. For example, how to use cam and concealment, how to clear corners, even chatting on a radio. I can say that the biggest thing I apply is consistency in maintaining and storing my gear so I know where everything is. Other than that, it is a video game with cardio and the only things that should be taken seriously in it is safety and fairness. Of course, I'm always willing to talk about the time I ran around with no pants in the middle of a short game to provide a distraction. Airsoft does have a lot of whiners in it, sadly, and aside from not playing with them there isn't much you can do about it. Honestly, hang with the right crew in it and you'll have a blast and make friends.
I agree with you about these whiners. There are always two things that shows difference between a toy gun battle vs a real battle. First you can Die ( of course )😐 Second there is fear. In airsoft, you can keep shooting people who are under cover and still would fire back. Because there is no fear in game. But in a real battle, fear changes everything. You will not find anyone acting like a spec Ops without even knowing the situation. And everybody would try to stay alive as possible. And in real life, you dont need to kill the whole enemy group to win, they will surrender if there is no use of fighting. You can even capture the enemy without hurting any of them. And i agree these whiners are annoying with their wannabe Spec Ops adult friend in midlife crisis.
@@motoangelio7648 I love it how the hard core airsoft people act as if they are the toughest people in the world but if they would ever get shot at they would probably start pissing themselves
@@motoangelio7648 You can make them surrender believe me :D Especially if you wear full ghillie that you can actually use in your environment and you point your Colt 1911 on them :D This happened so many times
I think the problem arises when people think their, vests and body armor, optics helmets etc etc makes them something special. I don't have a problem with being serious and RPing and using tactics and so on but if the people can't get out of the role that's the problem. Just because you are wearing military uniforms doesn't mean you are not playing a game. Take it easy, have fun and don't take it too serious.
yeah most military holsters and pouches are like design to airsoft like belts you can have your mags in and drop pouches you can have your emty mags in. and boots that feel good to stand in. And most inportant the gloves and drink pouches
Im same with you but idc if they dress up as long as they don't start some weird group where thay make fake ranks and require weekly meetings and their bs training and try to act like the millitsry for a fucking airport game. That's too far. But for yea idc wear the fancy getup and realistic guns, roll around on the ground act like a seal team 6 soldier knock down doors and yell bravo 6 going dark. It's fine as long as after the game you go back to being a normal dude.
Airsoft and Paintball make you realise how easily you can get hit in a real firefight....But I agree...in the end its nothing more than a game. Respect to those who earned their patches and put their lives on the line to protect us civilians on the real battlefield.
Being a paintball player I can relate to this. Some people are taking the game way to serious. It's meant to be fun. Yes, there has to be some kind of seriousness like gun handling(Once a friend of mine and me visited a shooting range - when I held a real gun for the first time I was jittering o.O). But we ain't soldiers and I was never in the military. So why act like that? Best wishes from germany :)
I would argue at least in paintball they have teams and championships, its usually less all out war and more of a team deathmatch thing. So some of the dudes do have that right if they want to compete
Personally I love pretending I'm in the military, pretending I'm strong, smart, and able to do what needs to be done like real soldiers. But I have no illusions that I could do those things for real, first off I'm skinny and weak as heck, I have no stamina, and I wouldn't even be able to join the military because of asthma and some other heath issues. Yes there are those that take it to far and act as if they have the right to the same respect actual veterans deserve. But with a heathy perspective on things it's great fun. You can have fun know it's a game, and be friendly at the same time as acting as if it's real, taking things seriously. I have the greatest respect for veterans and I look up to them a lot, which is I guess why I like to pretend to be one, I think there awesome. I do have to say I think I do more than many probably would, I go out of my way to learn gun safety, and then apply it to playing games. Since my parents don't let me play airsoft I do it with other things, nerf guns are 1 example, because I find it fun to pretend to do something I know I can't do for real. Also I know it's not training for real situations, but if your holding something that is like a gun, it can help to practice gun safety with that so if/when you hold a real gun, you already have muscle memory of how to treat it, not pointing at people is a odd one that can be learnt but generally I'd say not the best to practice with a toy gun you are supposed to point at others😂, but trigger dissaplin (sorry for my bad spelling) is 100% something that can, and I have learnt from playing with toy guns. As a direct result of me playing with toys (in a way that, I do understand, most people don't), when I am old enough to get a gun and practice in my back yard I am far less likely to shoot myself or someone else by mistake. Which is always a good thing. (Kinda a ramble and kinda related but not to the first paragraph, got a bit carried away lol)
@@ReaperPLUR In Paintball we have something called 'magfed' which is a growing sport. We now have paintball guns that look like AR 15's and AK's that feed through a magazine instead of a hopper. it's still not nearly as toxic as Airsoft as paintball literally leaves a mark so you have to call your hits. We have something called first strike, which are improved, aerodynamic paintballs (very expensive) used to shoot further. I love it.

On the Xbox 360 there was a game called Over-G Fighters, a great many of the community were just average joes working the 9 to 5; but we all larp'd around with brevity calls and tactical formations and it was fun! I don't get the spazing out a lot of people do.
That is the fun part, trying to use tactics to sweep buildings in the right way without getting shot in the back...... And a big part of arma is just The Zeus messing with your head and you screaming at them.
Everyone's a sniper in Arma, lol. I can safely say that it's not at all the same, IRL. So many things will make you miss that aren't programmed into the game. Shooting at that distance takes a hell of a lot more experience than, "I used mildots in Arma, once". And then there's so many other things, from the weight of all the gear for even a light patrol, to the sounds and visuals of combat. None of it is the same in paintball or video games. There'd be lawsuits if they made games as loud as real life.

I can definitely understand why someone with military experience would get annoyed by milsim. At the same time, if the milsim guys are having fun who cares
Because in the video the main part of mil-sim they don't like are the people who ruin it for everyone else, and try to make everyone else see them as someone that has actual knowledge in military, which they don't, because it's just a game

Yeah I've watched the video he's reacting to before and it's extremely bias, Milsim players really aren't as bad as they are trying to make it seem like. If anything they sound extremely butt hurt, and the issues they stated are extremely rare, i've been playing milsim for a really long time now and I've seen only maybe a few of those issues in that time. But hey this may be because they are playing in an entirely different country. The dudes making the video are Slovenian airsofters apparently.
Personally I play in a CQB arena so I don't have the problem they have, in CQB most people run a minimalist loadout because ultimately the goal is to be aggressive and agile, definitely hope to play at an outdoor field soon tho

in my country ( holland ) its funny because i come from the shooting sports side and recently went into airsoft because some guys i play video games with invited me over and i liked it but on the shooting sports side the dynamic disciplines like parkour shooting we are not allowed to wear pouches and other clothing that is in camouflage colours because thats to militaristic yet on airsoft they walk in 1000's euros of gear and uniforms and no one says a damn thing about it and yes i must admit i have a uniform myself but it makes no sense that in the shooting sports its not allowed because they think we are training for combat and all that and i hear no one complain about airsoft

Exactly; paintballs can at most give you welts, not holes through your body. Mad respect to vets and servicemen/women

@@masonallison2495 Last I checked, SEALs use sim-rounds. Something like a paintball put on the tip of a low power bullet.

@@l4st_s4mur4i thats why it makes it more fun when you decimate them with a 30rd gas blowback running .32s

I wouldn't play with those guys either....lul....its like the guys who take MMO's so seriously. Just have fun, be you, and pew pew. 😋👍👊
@John MacTavish Do you even play yourself?
Go book a field and have some fun dude. Why even bother having a strong opinion on something so negligible?
Pretty much, except if someones booked a serious milsim and they all have their fancy ranks, formations, group structure and tactics sorted out. Let them have their fun and if you dont want to follow their rules just leave. it's that simple. Let people play, beach volleyball isnt serious either but you're gonna be kicked off the sand if you dont play volleyball.

Airsoft is one of the most enjoyable sports in the world, but naturally, every sport, or game has cheaters, or general douchebags/idiots.

I never thought of it like that. But now I can’t unthink it.
I had so far so many bad experience people around airsoft.
That’s exactly right, the staging area at a field is literally an MW2 lobby or a discord server
Call of duty in real life? Say that to the guys at Milsim
the doctor airsoft even in a milsim event, the game is structured around toy guns, most of which have a max engagement distance of around 200 ft.

There’s another side to airsoft called speedsoft where you basically just rush with you gun and a paintball mask on. You usually just wear sneakers, sweats, a hoodie, and a beanie. It’s much more fun with no military tactics involved.
same in paintball but its just called speedball
Yeah, I agree, give me speedsoft over milsim any day of the week.
I've got a friend who literally almost single-handedly captured the enemy flag with a pistol in one hand and a can of root beer in the other. That's speedsofting right there.
Don't tell them that... The BS militaristic crowd will come and ruin it
I don't have anything against speedsoft as a gameplay style.
Don’t take it to seriously, mean whilst airsoft guy: 92 “kills” 0 “deaths”

Also, when no one is taking it seriously the guy with the fastest reflexes in the sport tends to get a lot of kills. Similar to why COD players with the fastest internet get all the kills.

When you go into the world leader boards and all you see is 10000.0 K/D ratios

First you can Die ( of course )😐
Second there is fear.

(Kinda a ramble and kinda related but not to the first paragraph, got a bit carried away lol)
it's a bit more painful and expensive, but the paintball markers are definitely more durable and less maintenance heavy than airsoft.
its also hilarous how they can barly run yet act like special forces yet they cant out run me a kid or beat my stamina when i dont have much

I lost it when he came up behind the guy in the ghille and put the gun to his head 😂
it's cus he can't shoot him from the close
I can definitely understand why someone with military experience would get annoyed by milsim. At the same time, if the milsim guys are having fun who cares
Because in the video the main part of mil-sim they don't like are the people who ruin it for everyone else, and try to make everyone else see them as someone that has actual knowledge in military, which they don't, because it's just a game
@@owenreynolds9599 iv played in a mil sim event before. And every squad had 1 military vet in charge. It made the game very fun when you have good guys helping
just ignore/laugh at them, the fun of the game can actually be there, laughing at supposed real pro active duty secret squadron soldier agent :P
"I like driving my car, but I'm not capable of driving a Formula One car." Great quote. I agree 99%, as that quote's true for every Formula One car / Race car except for the 2019 and 2020 Williams F1 cars. They're so slow if you record them in slow motion you go backwards in time
