    Lucky enough to be there. What a game. 22 legends on the pitch at the same time. Won't happen nowadays.

    Jim McCalliog scored Scotland's third and decisive late goal against England at Wembley on his international debut - stuff of legends !!!

      Jim is now 77 years old . He owned a B&B in Ayrshire at one time. Maybe still does. ? His career fizzled out in later years.
      He never made big money - no
      Lamborghini for him .Compared to
      today's pampered pooches..
      No matter what happened in later life he will always be a Legend for
      that game . Every schoolboys dream : to score at Wembley against England . Note how good natured the pitch invasion was ?
      There was no real hatred - just
      mostly humourous rivalry...

    Good quality game from both sides.Some of the Dutch players who played in tbe 74-78 world cup finals were quite young and were watching this game and were amazed by Jim Baxters keepie uppie.

    1967 I was there and still have my ticket.
    1977 I was there and celebrated on the pitch. I have photos of me taken by my beloved wife..2 months after our wedding.

      My mate brought a roll of turf home with him, kept it in a wee box in his living room for years, watering it and cutting it with scissors.
      He would put it outside when the weather suited.
      Always wondered what happened to it, somebody told me he eventually dug it into his back garden😂😂

      That was some midfield the Scots had-Bremner McCalliog and Baxter edging out Stiles Peters and Charlton and was it Ron Simpson in goal having a blinder ? Can't ever imagine England v Scotland ever fielding so many world class players on the same field again-and when you think about who was left out !

      ​@@4plumJust curious,have u ever pi/up a football from the 60's into the 1970's? If u had u wouldn't have made that silly comment,because u would know how challenging it was to play football with that Ball back in the day!
      ( by the early 80's the Ball had improved & it was better)
      So the point is,u had to be really skillful& have an abundance of skill& talent to be able to manipulate the Ball back then,not like the silly Ball they use now( which flys all over the place)

    I remember watching the 90mins for the first time.
    My observations were,
    Best player on pitch : Bobby Charlton
    Best Scottish player on the day : Ronnie McKinnon.
    Nearly every player could beat a man.

Jim Baxter, former coal miner from Hill O'Beath who did National Service in the army, got the players fired up before the game by saying: "Those arrogant bastards think we shouldn't even be on the same PLANET as them never mind the same pitch. So, we're going to go out there to take the piss." Which they did. Final score: World Champions 2, SCOTLAND 3.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
