That was some midfield the Scots had-Bremner McCalliog and Baxter edging out Stiles Peters and Charlton and was it Ron Simpson in goal having a blinder ? Can't ever imagine England v Scotland ever fielding so many world class players on the same field again-and when you think about who was left out !
Such a shame that Scotland has UTTERLY failed on the international stage in every sport. My heart is heavy for the poor, wee poppets. But they're certainly very spunky and amusing in that delightful, provincial way.
@@4plumJust curious, have u ever pi/up a football from the 60's into the 1970's? SCOTLAND. 🏴 What a team! The Lisbon Lions, & probably the best midfield line up in Scottish football history in Greig, McKinnon, Baxter! Jim Baxter, former coal miner from Hill O'Beath who did National Service in the army, got the players fired up before the game by saying: "Those arrogant bastards think we shouldn't even be on the same PLANET as them never mind the same pitch. So, we're going to go out there to take the piss." Which they did. Final score: World Champions 2, SCOTLAND 3.🏴
Lucky enough to be there. What a game. 22 legends on the pitch at the same time. Won't happen nowadays.
I love watching today's football, but these guys show so much heart. Of course, in 1967 these guys were our gods.
Never went to World Cup .
