Just to get a top-level comment in here: Lewis is correct, it is an anime reference (as the Editor showed in the video). It's a technique from Naruto, which references back to the Japanese mythological figure, but notably is a fire that cannot be put out. The icon references the anime, the effect the item has replicates the technique, the editors made sure to show *both* reference points... Lewis didn't do anything wrong here. Everyone else fumbled it.
It's like if there was a Kamehameha weapon that shot a giant energy beam, and someone said it was a reference to Dragon Ball, only for everyone to be like "Uhm Actually, it's a reference to the first king of Hawaii."
Yeah exactly. All of it is based on actual mythology. Most games and anime are based on mythology from all over the world.. so really they're all correct. There's also the game Okami with Amaterasu, but this particular instance is a direct reference to Naruto.
It's like they forgot most of their weapons are pop culture references and they've had anime weapons before like the Dominator and King Crimson. King Crimson being another example with the name referencing something else (a band) and the weapon being an anime (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) reference.
Nobody "fumbled" anything lmao lewis still didnt know what the fuck it was from, he thought the name *was* the reference, it's not like he claimed it was from Naruto at any point. A Lewis role? Here are few guesses: The CEO - Detective role that lets you fire a person (think the Death Note item but once per game) The Pusher - Traitor or Jester role that can inflict the Possum passive on others The Rager - Traitor role that gains HP and deals bonus damage when his ally dies Washed up - Traitor role that deals less damage the longer the round takes
It's GOTTA be something involving the harpoon. It's his signature dish. Though... they are bringing back old classics, and the Pusher was very fun. (Though Spiff used the Pusher a lot too, almost more than Lewis did.)
My guess for the Lewis role is The Justicar (or something similar). It's an innocent role where everyone they kill becomes a traitor (similar to the fool's golden gun). Also, their role appears to them as a regular innocent. So basically, it makes the Justicar think that their RDMs were justified, and confuses the traitor count.
“Imagine you’re Lewis” is the hint for the role. I have a guess for what it could be and if my guess is wrong then it should be a new role. My idea: It is a traitor role that can spend credits to use certain admin commands. It could be called hacker or something similar.
So wait, is the only way to tell the difference between a Shadow following you to take your role (and kill you) and a Jester pretending is if you _die?_
It changed shadow to play how people where already using it It's now your incentive as the shadowed to kill your shadow without damaging them by evading them At least I think that's what they are going for
Also, it's a nice buff for the jester, which struggles to be impactful without being overpowered. Which is presumably what all the other variant pink roles are for as well.

The Lewis Role... hmmmmm. Here are some qualities I think could apply: - The Spearfisher: uses harpoons somehow. - A lot of folks are mentioning a Pusher role: not untrue, could be combined with "spearfisher" qualities to get Pusher and Harpoons once he turns. - The Unobservant: I mean, that's just Lewis at his core. Logically... "Bristol Pusher" would be the name, but that feels too narrow or "Low-hanging Fruit"-like. Maybe "Whaler" to lean in on the Harpoons?
However in this case it most likely is actually an anime reference, to Naruto. I'm saying this since the icon in the buy meny is the eye which is used in said anime to set fire to someone. And yes this is inspired by the goddess of the same name.
