Great action when tuned correctly and they do catch some big bass. However, they get hung up more than other deep divers. Strike King needs to come up with a way to correct that. I imagine it is because they do not float up as fast as other deep divers, but that is what allows you to crank them deep without wearing yourself out.
I too agree about rod ratings. I thought years ago they were a little more reliable especially Saint Croix and Fenwick. I’m a little slow to try new rods and I also build my own. I have built rods only to decide that blank is not going to work! Just looked at the XD rods. Glad to see they’re fairly affordable also! Thanks mucho!
Flippin/pitching tullies have gotten me my biggest bites (10+ lb fish) but Crankin has gotten me a lot of bites and also quality fish here in AZ. It is one of my favorite ways to catch em! Awesome content as always brother 👍🏼
Great info. Been a fan of Lews and their customer service for a long time I like the old Speed Spool reels. Was a huge fan of the speed spool tournament MB reels. They got replaced by the MP. Not a fan. But nothing great ever disappears sometimes it’s introduced else where. To the best of my research and side by side product comparisons the tournament MB is now the KVD baitcaster; Which is fine by me. Fantastic real same price as the old MB @150. And lews rods….honestly I’m not sure why people are paying over $200 for a rod. Lews rods are so good and so versatile and they have a really good prostaff working for them.
Ain’t nobody gonna laugh at those old green Curados! Those things are beasts & the 3.8:1 is old school slow for sure. But depending on the time of year & water temp, I still have a couple 4:1 reels I break out for really crawling baits through the rocks 👍
Hey Todd what color should I go with for this time of year Shad,Bluegill or Perch? I’m speaking in regards to Sam Rayburn of course Neighbor!!! Appreciate you Brother!!!
Maybe I am missing something but I find deep diving crankbaits not at all fun to fish. They wear me out after about 20 casts. My back tightens up and starts hurting. I would like to know if this is normal for everyone or is there a technique to it that doesn’t wear you out?
I got a 7'10 and started deep cranking this yr and I've ran into a problem. I'm catching all my fish in deep wood piles but they are covered in zebra muscles. I got broke off 3 times last trip alone. Can I put a 1 ft wire leader and not lose action or depth. I'm using 16lb fc sniper
Outside of when they first move out on Guntersville I can't get em to bite it. Would like a video on how/ when to make changes to trigger them.
I like the sound/knock/rattle of the 8xd. Like you said, it’s just a bit different

I do love the 6xd,8xd and the 10xd. But I prefer the Mann's 20 + and 30 + better. They just seem to dive deeper on 12lb line to me.
They dive deeper but with less action
Yes love the Mann’s, and the 15+ deep pig
Mann’s. Was the ones that started the depth rated system. Use to have. 10ft+. 15ft+also. They still have there place.
Great info.

Don't laugh, I have two old green Shimano Curados, 3.8:1, that I use for deep stuff, DD-22, 6 XD, and 8 XD. Great info, thanks.

What power and taper do you prefer? tackle warehouse offers medium- moderate fast and medium heavy - extra fast.
If you click on 7’8 or 7’10 it only gives you one option in regards to action
I’m new to deep cranking. What’s the best way to tune the bait to run straight?
If the bait runs right then bend the front link very slightly left . Just a little at a time and vise versa
Todd what part of the country are you located and do most of your fishing
Texas

Maybe try a 40 lb leader. You could try wire, if you’re cranking it fast they prob won’t see it (Alabama rig is 5 wires and they smoke it.
Yeah I don't think i could get away with deep Crankin with an 8 ft rod especially when I'm 5'6
Nobody talks about the Dredgers.
Hopefully it stays that way.
Let’s keep it that way
👍👍👍👍👍
IT'S NOT A SECRET IF YOU'RE POSTING IT ON YOU TUBE...DUH..!
