      I’m sorry to hear about your situation. Losing independence and support is challenging. Your efforts to keep going show strength, and there’s a community here that understands and can relate to your experiences. Take it one step at a time-progress is possible.

    Polo,
    Don’t listen to anyone - - yes your effort will take you far. Keep a routine and do it daily. It will suck in the short term but you will see results.

    I've had e ischemic strokes in 7 years. I recovered so well from the first and second stroke I thought
    it would be the same with my third stroke. I was very wrong! My left leg is still not responding. The grief is tremendous. I want to be the person I was. I had no warning signs for any of the strokes. No high blood pressure, no headaches, fine one moment and the next half my body didn't work. We had to sell the home I loved and move to Florida to be close to my daughter. Seemed like my life was turned upside down out in a moment. I still feel resentful losing my home and moved so far away. really wanted to stay in my behome, it's been 2 years since the move and everyone thinks I should be over it. If I could walk again I'd at least feel I could be norrmal and be able to do the usual things other 64 years old's are out doing. I still have my drivers license and a car but my family won't let me even try. I was lucky because my left arm is back to normal, it's just the left leg that's still affected. physical therapy is done. They tried but I just couldn't make any useful progress with the left leg. I feel like I've been on a plateau for 3 years. I don't think i can stay positive much longer. I would really like to visit Dr. Tobinick down in Boca Raton but it's just so expensive. I'd gladly pay if I had the money.. I really feel there is no future when I remain this way. Sorry for the rambling post but I just needed to get it out. Thank you. Hi Polo, I wish I had the mindset you do.Very positive. Surrounded by people who can support you emotionally and physically. Best of luck for the future.

      Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s understandable to feel frustrated, especially with your left leg not responding after therapy and the changes in your life. Revisiting therapy with a different approach or exploring assistive devices might still offer some improvement.
      Regarding Dr. Tobinick, it could help to look into financial assistance or support groups that might offer solutions for the cost. Stroke recovery can feel like a plateau, but progress can happen over time, even if it’s slow. Keep exploring your options, and don’t hesitate to seek support when needed.

    I had a hemorrhagic stroke and I'm still dealing with the effects of it (my walking and right hand fine motor are affected). I was an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) and graduated the nursing (RN) program and passed the boards here in USA but stroke came along and ended that! Am I dealing with sadness, heck yeah, everyday! I always asked the question why me? I am young and I saw the effects from being a nurse and treating the stroke victims. But it happened to me and now it's my turn to deal with it. I can walk, drive, jog, ride a bike, lift weights, type, write now because of the home exercises I am doing. Thank goodness there's no contractures. You're never the same physically no matter what. Oh yeah I was 46 when it happened to me so it just goes that stroke don't have any prerequisites attached to it. It can happen to anyone. Yeah it sucks but like what they said, it gave me a different perspective of life. So keep up the goodwork Bill and goodluck to you Polo.

    had family reunion the day after christmas and i told my sister who is a doctor that after 6 months as everyone says thats the most you can get when rehabilitating yourself. told her then thats it's BULLSHIT. I am 53 had a stroke november last year spent 4 months in a nursing home had my therapist visit me twice a week thats 4 x 2 x 4 times then went home and had 2 months more from my therapist at home.so thats another 16 more sessions. wont lie it's not easy to have stroke on the right side of your body thats my life, i am a a graphic designer/ photographer/ disc jockey, so i cant do anything, so i was left to continue on my own. my Mom has dementure, my Father is blind . Had seizure August and lost all that i have learnt, Went back to the hospital a few weeks ago was told i was there on my Anniversary came back. and here i am now saying dont listen to anyone......i have a routine i was thought in therapy, now my fingers are no moving a bit, cant walk but am able bend my knees a bit. there are many exercises i still cant do because i cant clasp my fingers but ever thought abt using Pillows?

    • @BillGasiamis
      @BillGasiamis  День назад

      Your determination is inspiring! Progress doesn’t stop at six months-your small wins, like moving your fingers and bending your knees, are proof of that. Using pillows is such a creative way to adapt. Keep pushing forward-you’ve got this! 💪

      Imao sam zamućene točke u očima koje je primijetio samo moj oftalmolog tijekom pregleda. Zahvat je brz, a oporavak jednako tako. Nakon operacije, više mi nisu trebale naočale koje sam nosio od svoje pete godine.
