S BAI Tiffany is a very special person, she doesn’t spend hours drilling technique, she simply enjoys the music. I feel like she is not that crazy pianist, but a human being. And I actually like that...
@@bb4262 I'm not sure if you've won the Tchaikovsky Competition or something and are in a place to condescend on her abilities like that or something. Look up her credentials, she's a pretty crazy pianist. She's not the best pianist in the world obviously, and I don't think the Geneva Competition is an ultra high level competition either. But she made it to the top 16, so she's not at all unqualified to be in the competition. I don't think you know her goals and motivation. What "Erik Satie" is saying here is that it in the end, as long as you enjoy music and enjoy playing it, that's what matters the most. And that is what matters the most. Nobody plays piano just to win competitions. That's not the purpose of making music, nor does that qualify whether her piano playing is a waste or not depending on what her results are. I think it's hilariously ironic and stupid of you to put competitions up on a pedestal as what qualifies piano playing as good and worthwhile, as in the end, competitions are seeking popularity just as you criticize her of doing with making videos. Actually competitions are purely for seeking popularity because they're done so you can establish your reputation, while making videos has pretty obvious motivations, such as helping to spread the love for classical music, which Tiffany has clearly stated in past videos. It's sad that you're sitting behind a screen being a keyboard warrior. Ultimately, you can't demean and tear down what she's done because for the majority of us non-douchebags, she's brought a lot of inspiration and enjoyment in watching her videos, as well as an increased appreciation for classical music. Not only that, it's not hard to see that over the course of her life, music has brought her a lot of success, such as getting into Columbia-Julliard and then Yale School of Music, as well as simply satisfaction and fulfillment.
Competitions don’t define who you are. They may give you a little bit fame, yes, but look at how large your RUclips community has grown ever since you started! Keep working hard and never stop! Music is what matters the most!
You have done more to promote Classical music than any competition will ever do. All that matters is you do what you love and you can sustain yourself to keep doing it. From what I read others write, you are already a winner to all of us. You have your whole life ahead of you and the past doesn't matter, it's how you finish. Whoever wins will be in the past the next day, and then there's a new winner after that. Keep going Tiffany, you have what it takes.
great comment. how many people will be inspired and motivated to take an interest in listening to and possibly even performing classical music because of a competition? some I suppose. but how many out there in the world are being motivated by these videos and the opportunity to experience part of Tiffany's life? probably waaaaaay waaaaaaaay more.
Like what Benjamin Zander said:" perfection is good but not enough." That's exactly what you are Tiffany you are more than perfect you are the ideal form of a pianist that no pianist in the world could reach because you made us able to see another side of you, your human side and we adored it and it made us understand more of your music more of your relationship with the piano, that's what matters we are proud of you and you are an example for a whole generation of pianists so don't make us disappointed by your desperate disappointment of your self because we see ourselves in you
I like how you stay positive in a rather negative situation. Musical competitions are never fair or accurate. Just because you can't measure up the quality of a musical performance. Some people will like your performance and some will not. No matter how well you play some people will always dislike some of your ideas. When Arthur Rubinstein was told that he is seen as the best pianist of his time he said something like: music is art and in the arts there is no best one. Its all about if people like it or not. Thats all that matters. And he is right! I love your playing, I love your personality and your kindness and thats all that matters.
You know, every pianist has this kind of problems, and I know that you must be tired of hearing this kind of stuff, but a competition doesn't define who you are and doesn't mean that you're bad. Cause you're not Tiffany, you're the best 💙
I've been on these kinds of competitions and I know exactly what you are going through Tiffany. You play very well and above all you are kind and humble, something that is rare these days, and I love you even more for that. There are always going to be people who see our worth and those who don't, that's life, we just need to not get discouraged and move on. Plus you never know what is going on behind the curtains. So don't worry, all is good :) sending you a big hug and hopefully meet you soon
Agree totally with this comment, and sometimes it's best not to know what goes on behind those curtains. Your playing speaks for itself, and that is as it should be.
Tiffany. I've had the exact same experiences as you have right now concerning being eliminated. But, I want to tell you something. It is absolutely beautiful how passionate you are with your music. I think that your artistic personality which you express while playing is astounding and creative. This is also given by your humble, positive and sensitive character. Competitions and their outcome are not painting an image of one's abilities and specialities. They deal with much of a momentum. It completely doesn't matter if you have been eliminated in round 2 or not. The feeling that we get is dramatic and damaging, but we should use its energy for ourselves and different things. Maybe for the music! Music is not sport, actually you are not able to compare people objectively at a certain level. Even if it would be so that still is not the reason why music exists. To be clear, I really don't think that I know better than you how to deal with those situations or something similar, but we always tend to forget who we actually are and what we have achieved in the past. As you already said, you don't play for the judges or anyone else except for fulfilling the music's potential of beauty and inspiration. Nor do I play for judges or anyone similar because it is important for being free as a musician, as you know! The aspect that comes in addition is the big audience that you've crowded by your uniqueness or better said its expectations. They give you strength by positivity - but the people also are compassionate. By that this competition-thing might be repeated oftenly in the comment section and you already told that you absolutely don't want that. Everything concerning the judges is the same for this audience. You are not bound to their expectations because you are Tiffany and you only need Tiffany in first place. Just keep going being happy as you've been before that second round! Tiffany, you are such a great inspiration for all of us. Sometimes, no, oftenly, I don't feel confident in my practise sessions and don't want to keep going. Then I look at my mobile and see that you've uploaded a post or something similar. I see this lively, kind and cheerful face of yours and you sitting at the piano, expressing yourself and more in the best way you can. It gives me strength, it makes me believe in myself even more then. Maybe you still know a bit about me from the first novel-length comment of mine on your channel. So, it is amazing for me to watch such inspirational personalities like you. I hope that you got somehow an idea of what I want to express. My words are sadly not the best to choose when it comes to this topics. Be well - I wish you the best you could possibly get. Kerim
Don't worry Tiffany. We all know how you play and I think you are an amazing pianist with marvelous artistic and technical skills. Competition doesn't mean anything, the most important thing is that the audience enjoy your music! The most important thing is that you like how you play and you can share you music experience with others.
Hi Tiffany! I've been watching your videos for six months, and I love every single one of them. I really can see your great passion for music through your videos and that has inspired me a lot. I'm a thirteen-year-old violinist myself and about to move from Beijing to New York to pursue my dream in music. I hope I can be a musician that never forget to see expressing myself fully and sharing music to others as the biggest goal, just like you. I do feel that sometimes music would become less fun if my goal is to ’win’ and prove myself. Thank you for reminding me of this and all the inspirations that you gave me. 我超喜欢你的演奏,我们爱你!然后再次谢谢你,小姐姐❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the journey! It’s the journey of the music that matters most. Catching that miracle performance only comes once in awhile. All you can do is let the universe in.
Love that you share it all! What a gift to all of us...even the most famous pianists don’t win all their competitions...it’s all part of the journey...you are very focused and seem to be very grounded...thanks so much...you are the best!
"Don't subscribe." you're crazy! DEFINITELY SUBSCRIBE! You are so brave for documenting this process. I am incredibly inspired by you. You are a fantastic artist! BRAVA!!!
Yes, life happens, it's a process, perfection is a process something we can only strive for, and enjoy the journey. Keep perspective because it's still a great day. A great competition experience. Thanks for sharing.
I'm sorry if you feel disapppointed about your performance but this competition will only become an experience of the past. You are still such a young and talented musician and there are many other opportunities ahead. (I'm sorry if this came across as arrogant or cliche, I really did not mean to be like that)
Tiffany I am your new subscriber and I have been binge watching your vlogs in the past couple of days. You are amazing and the fact that you talk about your “fail” is so down to earth and so real because let’s face it not so many of people would want to talk about fail. You did not fail! You are amazing and I shared this one and other ones to my son who is a piano performance major who loves classical music. Thank you!
Tiffany, we love you!! Big hugs from all of your fans!! Thank you for bringing us along through the process and sharing the outcome. I hope it helps in some small way to know that we are in your corner! I know this competition experience will launch you to even greater heights. Congrats on being selected to compete, and on making it to the second round. You are one of the few in this world who achieved that. xo
Hi Tiffany! Thanks so very much for allowing me and several thousand others to come along for the ride. LOVED hearing your thoughts during different stages of competition. That's so wonderful hearing your ideas because they're not at all what I had imagined. You are so awesome!!! Hope ya get some good sleep to regenerate after all the jet lag. I always think you are the best of the best and I am so looking forward to whatever comes next!!!
Tiffany you did your best! Keep your head, your performance still moved the hearts of many people. Keep working hard and push past any obstacles that come your way, you have a lovely personality and are very humble, I hate to see you sad! No matter what other people say just keep playing with the goals you have in mind and keep touching thousands of people with your music. You will always be amazing in my books Tiffany!
2:46 cracked me up sooo hard, you’re too adorable 😭 on a more serious note, you must be feeling lots of emotions right now, but as you said yourself, life happens! I’m sure you’ll bounce back from this, and hope that you’ll continue doing what you love. Looking forward to whatever’s coming up next from you!
Just your courage to go into competitions and share what beautiful music could be like alone is already so great, and I am so proud of you for that. I never even have the courage to perform so I really look up to you! You're an amazing pianist regardless of the result. Hope you enjoyed your stay in Switzerland no matter what :)
Hey Tiffany thanks for showing us the experience of what it is like to perform in an international competition. It was a pleasure to watch all of your practicing and to hear some of your gorgeous playing. In the end failure is part of the competition lifestyle but you are such an amazing young pianist, and as you said just focus on the music. Thanks for being an inspiration, this is where I want to be in a couple of years.
Tiffany, I hope I get the chance to hear you play live. Your love of music has reminded me to keep practicing. I’ll never be a pianist like you, but you remind me of the simple joys that the piano can bring.
Thank you for being so brave and sharing your nerve-wrecking and doubtful moments, to which we all can relate! I think it's such a beautiful and inspiring quality you possess, which makes your content so transparent and authentic. I feel like I'm a friend of yours when watching your videos Tiffany.
You lovely musician! Your honesty is reminding me and probably lots of other older-than-you musicians of these challenging times. I can feel my heart sink, remembering the loneliness and weirdness of things like competitions. You're on your way. Move in whatever direction seems to make sense, make beautiful music and all sorts of things will become clearer and easier with time.
Tiffany, I bet you already have more fans and followers than those competition contestants. You are down to earth, extremely talented, genuine and reaching deeper into the fan base. Bravo to your achievements and to whatever you are doing! Keep up the great work!👍💐🎁
You are doing just perfect! Every time you are learning more and you learn quick! Amazing to see your progress! Most important enjoy your music and feel free to play without too much concentrating and everything will become better! Have fun and enjoy your live with your music! Congratulations to everything you already achieved! best regards from Sweden, Rainer
You know, you're already one of the best (young!) musicians out there, there isn't any competition that can change this. :) Your music is always wonderful, that's what's important.
Tiffany, you are great that you share your experience. Competition is just a competition. I love your playing and your music Tiffany. Please keep going!! I wish to play the Bach Partitia no 2 like you one day. You have inspired so many pianists. That is most important.
Your videos are the best! Always a great way to end a day by watching them! Exciting, funny, and informative at the same time. Have learned so much from you. We all love you!
You are one of the best young pianists out there and you don't need any title to prove it, Tiffany. Keep doing and loving what you do! Lots of love from Indonesia.
Hi Tiffany! I know how you are feeling exactly. I know how heartbreaking it can be in competitions, I've done it many times, being a first place winner consecutively then the next year, not a single award. I want you to know that your feelings are valid, and that it is normal and that it only makes you a better musician. Keep moving forward!
You are changing not just me, (probably) lot more others, the perspective and meaning of music, that's way bigger than just ''winning a competition''. We are here for you!!
You will only be a better player for the experience! You are incredible and an awesome talent. Thank you for sharing your experiences and playing with us. You are fabulous!
A well rounded person is not good at doing one thing. The ultimate goal in life is being a compassionate, respectful, forgiving, loving and sharing. Thank you Tiffany for sharing your music and thoughts.
It was fun to see some behind-the-scenes of your participation in the competition. I think that you can be quite happy with having made it to the final 16, and that all the contestants probably deserved to make it through one way or another but unfortunately only a few can! Looking forward to your next video.
"But those who heard me play live heard how I played and that's all that matters" I didn't hear you play live, but you're still so right! It's about the music and how you feel it. Nobody who loves music actually cares a lot about competitions. I hope you enjoyed playing and I also hope that you'll be able to learn from that experience.
No matter the outcome of your competitions, I support you. Thank you for sharing this especially because there are many emotions when competing. Looking forward to your next vlog. Now go celebrate that you made it through 2 rounds! 💕
you said in the end "wish that there were more of you who could have heard me play".. well.. not exactly that live performance in the 2nd round.. but thousands of us are listening to you play on youtube all the time from all over the world!!! so keep on playing and making them videos. love from Malaysia.
Tiffany, thank you for the vlog! Competition is such a high stress event, probably worst than final recital! Looking forward to hear interesting playing from you
Not passing the round is secondary to putting your heart and soul into your performance Tiffany. Never change your attitude in that regard, and I don't believe you would. The integrity to this great music must be above everything else, but of course you believe that already
You're so talented, I've been watching your videos for a while now, don't let the illimenation get to you, keep up the good work you'll get there in the end!
I'm really impressed with your whole approach to this, wanting to "play well", as opposed to necessarily "doing well", since judging can often be subjective, and only one person will win. Afterwards while you were eating, I hope you got to enjoy that classic Aretha Franklin music playing in the background. I've never heard anyone say, "Oh well,..back to Yale." :)
I can totally relate to how you feel as I have been going through a similar situation, too. I just wanna say that the outcome is not what matters most but the process. As long as you have given your best, you have already "won". Keep up the good work! With love and support from your hometown, Hong Kong.
Keep going! No worries! Release! Focus on what you want and how you want it! You are not just an amazing Pianist! You have a unique way to express yourself. Your diversity may slow you down a bit but we still see you growing. Eliminated from the competition but growing number of subscriptions of your RUclips channel! Get some good food and some sleep! Safe travels!
Sharing your journey is so fascinating. I would never have even tried to compete-you’re so brave. I think maybe this experience will make you even better in the future. Even if you don’t win, the push and pressure can help you grow more. Hope you let us know your future schedule and plans!
Tiffany. As someone who failed twice to achieve board certification in my field (succeeded eventually), I understand your feelings. It took me at least six months to work through the emotions, confusion, and distress. I assure you that it eventually becomes motivation. ]The experience of failure becomes one of the bricks in the foundation of the eventual professional you!
hi tiffany I am currently studying towards my AMUS piano exams, and your pieces have given me great insight on how to interpret and play them. I love your playing, and wish you the best of luck!
Congratulations doing` as well as you did. You did your best and I'm sure the music was beautiful. As you said, we won't dwell on it. Nothing to see here. Let's move along. On to better things.
Tiffany, you achieved your goal on Geneva, and that was to let people hear you playing. It was mainly about the music, not the prize. I know it sucks, but this competition don´t define who you, not as a person nor as a musician (a incredible one!). You work so hard on everything and the universe is giving it back to you (this channel is an exemple, you have such a large community here)! Now, let's look forward to what the future brings and always remember that your community is here for you!
This is why we subscribe.. somebody going through real life stuff. What fun is just watching somebody win and get sponsorship. You are real so that’s why the majority of us subscribed. You are very talented and inspirational. Let’s take the journey with you and see what happens next. Ps would love to remix an original composition if this doesn’t offend you. I was a royal school of music violinist and now an electronic music producer however turned to the dark side lol...love your technical ability and dream of being able to attend a live recital of yours someday and talking shit afterwards of all the flaws you thought you made. One love, one groove. Groovypig
I really appreciate the fact that you cared and took the time to show us whatever was running through your head before the competition. When I first heard you play, I thought that you were honestly superhuman or a genius of some sort. Now I know for a fact that you are better than all that (Secretly relieved that you're human as well xD) You're honestly amazing. After so many years of playing the piano, it takes a LOT of effort, dedication and guts to go out to an unknown environment and give it your all, fully knowing that you can fail. You're amazing Tiffany! Keep it up! :)
I think you have the right perspective!! Competitions give you an opportunity to play, travel and meet people. And that about all I can say good about competitions. :) Thanks for sharing your musical journey.
That’s so unfair, you deserved to move on!! You did your absolute best and if the judges decide in another direction they are ignoring your natural talent. Of course I’m going to keep subscribing!💛can’t wait for the next video!
Go Tiff!!! i just watched this today.. You’re such an amazing person.. ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you so much for being such an inspiration.. You never failed to bring beauty to this life whenever you play and share your music. Love yah Girl!!!
Nobody’s perfect, no matter how good you are. It’s not, how past you can play or good, but it’s how you can make it smooth, bright and softy or loud, when you play and release the key. You still young and you have a good future in your career, like Yuja Wang, which you and her are my favorite.
Tiffany Don't beat yourself up, it was not a fail. You're mindset towards winning and playing well shows you've proven yourself beyond just competitions.
Competition doesn’t matter, music matters
Erik Satie thank you for your wisdom Satie 😋😛😅

Maybe you didnt won the competition but you won a new suscriber.
Thanks for sharing the nerve breaking process you went through with your followers. You have the most positive attitudes for life! We love you👌❤️
Have a safe trip home!
Competitions are for horses not artists. THAT BEING SAID I love your energy and positive attitude. Good luck on all your journeys
Every time I feel like i want to give up and stop practicing all I do is watching one of your videos and I'll go back practicing ❤
You did it...you are doing it and living life. A lot more than most of us. Proud of you.
Dude you could lose every single competition ever but you’re still my favorite pianist lol you’re amazing ❤️
Thanks for releasing this. It's quite encouraging for people I look up go through failure like I do, and come back from it. Thanks again
Move in whatever direction seems to make sense, make beautiful music and all sorts of things will become clearer and easier with time.
your videos be my motivation for go to practice.. thanks tiffany poon.
It's a long journey, Tiffany! Don't worry; You'll have plenty of other chances! Looking forward to hearing more of your music!
One of your greatest strengths is your vulnerability. Keep your heart open to express your music. Competitions do not define you. God bless.
You know, you're already one of the best (young!) musicians out there, there isn't any competition that can change this. :) Your music is always wonderful, that's what's important.
Love your attitude. It's not about winning, but playing well. You're a winner in my books.
I feel motivation every time i watch you
It is such a beautiful pleasure be able to follow you and being with you in your musical journey
You are already a winner in the eyes of all your followers. Keep pushing forward!
Tiffany thank you for sharing your heart and soul here. And it doesn’t matter about what happened, we are still all here with you. Hugs
Tiffany, you are great that you share your experience. Competition is just a competition. I love your playing and your music Tiffany. Please keep going!! I wish to play the Bach Partitia no 2 like you one day. You have inspired so many pianists. That is most important.
Don't worry, you are amazing. Thanks for show us how you prepare and feel in a intense event like a competition.
Your videos are the best! Always a great way to end a day by watching them! Exciting, funny, and informative at the same time. Have learned so much from you. We all love you!
youre such a huge inspiriation for me :)
It’s okay Tiffany you’ll always have us. I pray that God gives you what you truly search for. You’re such a kind hearted person
You will only be a better player for the experience! You are incredible and an awesome talent. Thank you for sharing your experiences and playing with us. You are fabulous!
Many thanks for the beautiful and touching music you perform. I hope I'll be able one day, to come and see your concert when you are in Paris.
A well rounded person is not good at doing one thing. The ultimate goal in life is being a compassionate, respectful, forgiving, loving and sharing. Thank you Tiffany for sharing your music and thoughts.
I loved hearing about your experience, You're amazing- don't worry about it!!
Thank you for sharing this. For those of us who follow you I know that many of us felt it, everything.
It was fun to see some behind-the-scenes of your participation in the competition. I think that you can be quite happy with having made it to the final 16, and that all the contestants probably deserved to make it through one way or another but unfortunately only a few can! Looking forward to your next video.
"But those who heard me play live heard how I played and that's all that matters"
I didn't hear you play live, but you're still so right!
I really admire your decision to vlog your experience at the Geneva competition. It has been very enlightening.
You did your best and you've done well. People will love your music no matter what. ❤️
It was awesome to follow this adventure! Thanks for being so open about the process! (Your papillons recording indeed 11/10 😁)
Sharing your journey is so fascinating. I would never have even tried to compete-you’re so brave. I think maybe this experience will make you even better in the future. Even if you don’t win, the push and pressure can help you grow more. Hope you let us know your future schedule and plans!
you were a good sport. Keep on making beautiful music. CHEERS!!!
Tiffany!! 加油加油加油 your love for music would shine through 💪🏻
hi tiffany
I am currently studying towards my AMUS piano exams, and your pieces have given me great insight on how to interpret and play them. I love your playing, and wish you the best of luck!
Congratulations doing` as well as you did. You did your best and I'm sure the music was beautiful. As you said, we won't dwell on it. Nothing to see here. Let's move along. On to better things.
Your blog does much much more to “energize” classical piano music than self-congratulatory yet unavoidable competitions. Blunt but an honest opinion.
Groovypig
Thanks for sharing! In these kinda situations, I draw my lesson and move on... Looking forward to your next video 👍
I really appreciate the fact that you cared and took the time to show us whatever was running through your head before the competition. When I first heard you play, I thought that you were honestly superhuman or a genius of some sort. Now I know for a fact that you are better than all that (Secretly relieved that you're human as well xD)
You're honestly amazing. After so many years of playing the piano, it takes a LOT of effort, dedication and guts to go out to an unknown environment and give it your all, fully knowing that you can fail. You're amazing Tiffany! Keep it up! :)
Love you still and your playing and vlogs Tiffany🎶❤
I think you have the right perspective!! Competitions give you an opportunity to play, travel and meet people. And that about all I can say good about competitions. :) Thanks for sharing your musical journey.
I admire your courage and your effort. For your beautiful musical struggle you have all my sympathy. Better days will come, no doubt.
That’s so unfair, you deserved to move on!! You did your absolute best and if the judges decide in another direction they are ignoring your natural talent. Of course I’m going to keep subscribing!💛can’t wait for the next video!
Tiffany is an amazing pianist, but I don't think someone should move on because they have a natural talent.
It is sad but who cares about competitions? You are great! You bring us joy and your love of piano.
You will always be awesome no matter what happens. Love your positive attitude!
It will only make you more stronger, no worries, Tiffany, heads up and move on
You are so brilliant at what you do, and you play because you love it and that's all that matters
Go Tiff!!! i just watched this today.. You’re such an amazing person.. ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you so much for being such an inspiration.. You never failed to bring beauty to this life whenever you play and share your music. Love yah Girl!!!
Your joyful love of music is deep and pure. 💙
Nobody’s perfect, no matter how good you are. It’s not, how past you can play or good, but it’s how you can make it smooth, bright and softy or loud, when you play and release the key. You still young and you have a good future in your career, like Yuja Wang, which you and her are my favorite.
The audience is always a good thing to be aware about.
Tiffany Don't beat yourself up, it was not a fail. You're mindset towards winning and playing well shows you've proven yourself beyond just competitions.
You are such an inspiration. Just keep doing what you're doing, people will realise soon enough how amazing you are ;)
You did all your best with all of your heart. You are so young and a great pianist already. Keep going!!! Greetings from Argentina!
