If one desires to contemplate seriously on the mysteries of Nature, Saami is one of the artists who can take one into the abysmal depth of a Raga - a deep and serene ocean in which one can dive into the profoundest depth of peace and ecstasy and would never wish to come out of it again. I have always found Saami to reveal the true spirit of a raga. He is one artist who has never disappointed me. Very few artists are known to have expressed the beauty of Bihag as this great artist does.

A deep and serene pool/'ocean' - Sar-o-var. Or in Scandinavian - Saga-vahr. Or in Russian - Tzara-veer. Or in... lol. Et cetera - Forever. Eternity is very deep, my friend.

True , intellectually and emotionly expressed feeling. Same feeling here, but our mind , like jumping money pulls us away to the worried world.

Great singing! The tarana at the end is a famous composition of Miyan Achpal and is sung by most Dilli gharana vocalists. But few singers sing the full composition with the antara including the pakhawaj bols. Ustad Sami's rendering is sheer mastery.

    Dear Vinaypande ji,
Yes, Sardar Khansahib lived mostly in Lahore. His son Ibrahim Khan ( a khalifa of the Delhi gharana) now lives in Karachi.
Yes, people have some of the recordings by Ustad Sardar Khansahib. Just this evening, I had the privilege of listening to some of his raags - des, chandni kedara and khamaj. A heavenly sound, indeed.

He is a Sureela and knowledgeable vocalist no doubt.
But definitely his singing pattern follows the wonderful brilliant Gayaki of the great Vocalist Ustad Wahid Hussain Khansahab of the famous Khurja Gharana ( Nauhar Bani).
His vocal support is also superb.
    Accompaniment is perfect.

Delhi Gharana of Ustad Tanya's Khan and the Khurja Gharana of Ustad Zahur Bakhsh Khansahab, Haji Ustad Altaf Hussain and Famous Ustad Wahid Hussain Khansahab, are from the same Nauhar Bani.
Both these Gharanas have greatly contributed to the development and enrichment of classical music, like the other great Gharanas like, Hapur Gharana, Khurja Gharana, Agra Gharana and the Sikandra Gharana.
Besides these important Gharanas one very very important and famous Gharana is Atrauli (Jaipur) Gharana of Daguri Gobarhar Bani, which gave musical giants as Ustad Allahdiya Khansahab Ahmedpiya and Ustad Azmat Hussain Khansahab Dilrang.
All these Gharanas had a deep marital ties and strong relations.

did ustad munshi raziuddin learn from ustad sardar khan? i have read that sardar khan lived in lahore and not hyderabad like his father and grandfather. are there any recordings of ustad sardar khan? ustad vilayat hussain khan saheb has the nicest things to say about him in his book. i believe he died in 1962, so he may have been recorded in lahore.
