Saami is wonderful, always. The feeling state of a raga = Pathos (this is a word which I use) is depicted well by this artist in every recital. That is what makes him great. His style is beautiful. Every raga has pathos which is different from all other ragas, every raga has its individuality. Kedar is full of love, love for God, love for Nature. There is conviction: God is. With the help of Kedar, one loves God, reveres Him, admires Him, is devoted to Him. A Hindu would call it bhakti-bhava. There is Love, but no Fear, there is conviction about His Goodness, Compassion, Kindness, Forgiveness, Gentleness. Fear or Hatred does not exist in any raga. Through the recitation of Kedar, the artist is promulgating a message of love, compassion, devotion, goodness to the Universe. Saami has achieved it!! I bow my head. The depth of Kedar is much more than what I have experienced. This is only a synopsis. In short, what I want to convey to music lovers that the ragas have profound depth hidden in their structures. One must learn to explore it and singers should use appropriate words to express the beauty of a raga. This is painfully missing from our recitals, whether the singer is from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh or USA.

They are singing in old hindi

@emigr8 the language is unimportant in this form of Raag music - words are used as vehicles for the notes of the particular Raag being sung.

The LMF sound engineering is a recurrent complaint. Put simply, its terrible.

saami saheb is a wonderful artist. he is knowledgeable and commands control. while the video is great visually, the audio leaves a lot to be desired. the sarangi is way too prominent and the vocals too far at the back. sadly the audio mixing could have been a lot better.

Please be kind. It is easy to criticize than to admire. I love it, we are lucky to have this, this is not WEST with billions to pour in for presentation. Those who don'f agree can always listen to Rap.

Ustad Naseeruddin Sami sahab is simply a wonderful vocalist. But I'm quite confused that how such a big artist could use the 'Sa ma Re Pa' phrase in Kedara? Like this isn't the ascending route of Kadara. In Kedara we use 'Sa ma Ga Ma Pa'.

+Ahmed Saami Aap ki baat buri nahin, alag gharanon mein alag tarha say aam raag bhi pesh kiyay jatay hain, laikin Singh sahab nay Kedar kay baray mein ikhtilaf kiya, kisi Kedar kay prakar ka nahin. Maluha aik alag raag hai jis kay apnay khubsurat lakshan aur pecheediyan hain. Aap lagta hai siraf apni taleem jarh rahay hain.

Ma Re Pa kedara nahi balki kamod ki taan hai aur kedara ke prakar nahi balki sirf kedara ki baat ki jaye to achha hai haan kedara ko bhi bahut dhang se gaya bajaya jaata hai jaise ek madhyam se ya dono madhyam se aur dono nikhado se bhi gaya bajaya jaata hai magar Ma Re Pa khuli taur par kamod ki hi taan kisi bhi mat se kedara main yeh taan theek nahi

That's why it often brought a GoudMalhar-like flavour in this otherwise small -canvassed but expansive Raaga!

A very good rendition indeed. However, Naseeruddin Saab lacks the depth of the classical Ragas which are Shastriya Vedic music.Amongst all the Muslim classical ustads, only the late Bade Ghulam Ali Khan sahib managed to master that depth. All other ustads, as per myself, made and make it too simplistic fusing with Qwualli music.
