    RATM is not allowed any lyrics on apple music by Apple. In 2010 they made KITNO the #1 Christmas song in Europe and so they ended up performing a free concert. You'll run into a lot of long solos in live music. I've been to shows that have absolutely killer musicians and then you buy an album and all of a sudden it sounds like radio music with no personality. I got dragged to a Rascal Flatts concert by a girlfriend once and it ended up being really good. Live shows bring out the best in performers. Point being, if that's not your thing listen to studio versions.

    • @dameonk
      @dameonk 2 года назад

      I absolutely disagree with albums not having personality when compared to a band live. Listening to live music is great, but the studio version is exactly what the band wants the song to sound like, the live performance is like a cover of that ideal version. That's especially true when you're watching a video or listening to a live performance. Recordings of live performances are hardly ever as good as they are live. There are exceptions, of course, but those are pretty rare. Because of that I think listening to the studio version before a live performance when you've never heard a song before is the way to go.

    I heard this album when it came out and it made young, teenage me super uncomfortable. It's now one of the few albums from the early 90s that I've never stopped listening to and the lyrics have never stopped being relevant. I do recommend looking up one of their earlier live recordings of this song if you want to see their raw energy (even though the audio for them is rough). They used to burn the house down with their ferocity. There's one with Maynard from Tool joining them onstage (he guested on the studio version as well). The band sounds great in the more recent clip you used, but Zack sounds like he's struggling to breathe and keep up with the band here.

    Tom and Zach are anarcho communists and most of their music should be viewed through an anti capitalist lens. This is one of my favorites of theirs. It doesn't have as many historical references as some of their other songs. They don't mince their words in this one. Straight to the point.

    Enough with the live versions! :D I feel like anyone listening to RATM for the first time HAS to have lyrics to read along. You got a lot of it, but you shouldnt miss anything! :)
