It's early January 2022 & I'm sitting reading letters my mum wrote to my dad at various times and years after they broke up when I was a teen. Dad mentioned this song in his letters and I'm listening and a bit teary now. They REALLY loved each other, they'd just got lost and hurt each each other as they married so young. As the song says "when we're gone..." and now they're together in heaven.

This song was played at my dads and now step mum's wedding the other day. It was played when they were on the dance floor slow dancing as the entire party and even the workers sat there staring at them in awe. The entire song they would not look away from each others eyes, and it was that moment i realised they would be together until death. It was the most moving part of the entire day and i wish them both a happy marriage

I have been commenting on here for years about how much this song means to me regarding my love for my wife Sarita, we will reach the big 40 years married on Friday November 13th and this song still sums up my feelings for her and always will.

How wonderful to hear you say this. Your wife and you must be in love so much. I had this song played at my adorable husband Ken's funeral who passed away on 23rd November 2020. I miss him so much and my heart is sore without him as we were so in love. Even when he'd go out shopping or anything else he used ring me up and sing a love song to me as he was setting out to come home. Each day we fell more and more in love. I'm truly blessed at having Ken in my life. I'll remember a prayer for you 2 beautiful people on your 40th Anniversary👌💖🙏

Of course I know the Fureys are wonderful music makers, but as this song is fairly new to me, and as I still miss my gal Irene this song really hits home. Who ever wrote it either had an amazing imagination, or also lost some dear to them. Thanks Fureys you filled my eyes with tears. Ken Stock Bournemouth UK.

I Listened to these guys as a kid and couldn't really appreciate what the music represented or what the moral was because of being so young, but loving the music was good enough back then, when i got a little older i could fully appreciate every lyric, the fureys are legends are monumental in Irish music and culture and have been blessed to have had the chance to experience there art.
