I might try one of these for SOTA at some point.. I built my own from a kit but it ended up being bulkier than expected..

i have also the picoAprs. I use it with aprsdroid as TNC. so great! u can use it also with serial usb terminals on android. The only feature i would like to have is a time stamp on rx messages. Maybe only as dots next to the degrees sign. There is some space left. @Taner Schenker

I have one of these devices but find it pretty useless for messaging and just can't figure out its true purpose in the field, other than a tracker! Perhaps your next video might show your laptop application and how you are using PicoAprs as a Kiss-TNC - Who do you talk to? How do you connect? Ideally I would like to be able to send simple messages to a callsign at Winlink (I have RMS). I think Taner should lose the "Game" and use that space for 'canned messages' as the 2 buttons are hard to message with. I think WiMo has abandoned any future development of the firmware?

Kinda thinking this would the kind of think a hiker would want.
How well does it interface with an Android device? Can it update the maps that way, send messages etc.? 73 - KC1OCA

Why do msgs not get repeated back out towards the aprs station's location in the UK?

I Use the system LoRa for that, one TTGO with a battery and he do the same work.

I assume this can do WinLink as well?

I haven't used Winlink as there's limited support under Linux. However, I understand it uses different tones/signalling in which case the PicoAPRS will not be compatible; it's strictly a 1200 baud ax.25 device.
