- Longboarding circa April 2009. Riding may progress but good times with good friends never get old, neither does riding off into the sunset.
Ride along with Ian Joe Dutch on his first trip as an Original team longboarder; Brad, Sean Burke, Derek, and Dutchie set out to explore the great state of Texas, via longboard.

Another word on the helmet situation:
This session was shot in 2009, we had yet to be converted in the great helmet crusades. This session specifically was pivotal in our decision to begin wearing helmets.
I saw the footage of this session and felt that our riders were now going too fast to mitigate the risk without helmets. That idea was reinforced as I started to go after those speeds myself.
At this point I wear a helmet 100% of the time, and encourage the team to do the same.

I am starting a long boarding workshop because of you specializing in pin tails. Thank you original for doing what you do :)
My pintail 40 decayed quite rapidly (crack right down the length of it, but still rideable I guess) but that didn't stop me from getting the Apex 40, and I am glad I did. Thanks for a great time these past years, your videos of riding off into the sunset is exactly what got me into longboarding.

Sounds like you may have some stress cracks in the deck. No worries though. Over a period of time, stress cracks will happen in wooden boards, usually where the hardware is bolted through. The structure of the board is still fine and it's safe to ride! -Lindsay

@Forevirknight Check out our Pintail 43 and 46! They're both beginner through advanced boards. They're easy to learn on because they're lower to the ground an stable. They are meant for cruising, carving, and some smaller hills too!

@mrLongboarder11 yes! Our trucks will fit on most boards, but they can only be top mounted.
i think Ian is by far my Favorite longboarder ever
@NightElfMohawk1000 the freeride 41 rocker concave is a great cruiser! It's meant for high speeds and sliding, however, because it's a lower board and stable, it's also a great cruiser.
Hey, for cruising around check out our Line of Pintails. The 43" or 46" would work great for you. It's awesome that your thinking about getting back into it!

Yep! If you are international.
If you are interested in keeping costs low try ordering an Arbiter 36 deck which ships for free world wide and then buying trucks / wheels etc locally. That can reduce prices sometimes, so even though the $60USD is relatively inexpensive compared to how much it costs us to ship the board, you always have an option.

Hey Gil! Check out the Arbiter 36 which we released not too long ago. It's a top mount downhill board with a bit of concave at the tail for sliding. Or, take a look at the symmetrical Maven 35 for a dropped deck with a deaper concave if you're focusing more on technical slides -Lindsay

@KronicIronhorse420 The freeride 41 with w concave would be a great set up for what you want to do. It's stable at high speeds and with the w concave your feet lock into the board.

Hey if you guys ever do another texas session, there's a park in houston called hershey park in houston texas and theres lots of little hills and what not thats perfect for long boarding

@MaachoNaacho hey! Take your trucks apart and check your wave cams! Make sure they're clean. If they have a crack in them you may need to replace them. They're 4 bucks off our website and it's free shipping.
@CollisionTheoryMedia the Apex 37 is one of our most versatile boards so you should be okay with it. Otherwise, you may want to try the Freeride boards, these boards are great for sliding.

@Matthopskie Check out the pintail 43! It's a great board for carving and cruising around. You may also want to get red medium tension springs for your trucks for a bit more stability.
@givingupthegun7 the Original trucks are meant for carving, and lower speeds. If you're looking to bomb hills and go faster than 25 mph then you would be best with a bushing truck

@BlameTruth99 Powersliding and carving are two different things. Carving is just linking turns together, as in slalom skiing for example. If you want to powerslide, it's easier if you have wheels that are hard. The "hardness" of the wheel is determined by the durometer reading... this is the number on the wheel followed by the letter A. for example 80A, 86A etc. The higher the number the harder the wheel is, the lower the number (generally in the 70A to 78A range) the softer, stickier=hard2slide

@simplybrody the freeride 38 with rocker concave would be a great board for what you are looking to do. Saying Sector 9 is the best is a matter of opinion. They may be the most known through out the world because they are a huge corporation, kind of like Wallmart.

@pebble998 The Freeride would be best for higher speeds and sliding, but if you're looking for a board for durability and freestyle and some freeriding, then go for the apex 40.

One of you has the exact same slide gloves as me! 2 dollar home depot working gloves,I put Corian tile samples and industrial grade velcro on mine. They work great

thumbs up if when you see other longboard videos of other guys that get so so so so exited with dancing and that's all they do, or guys who only go at super super speeds ,but......when you see original skateboards videos..you remember the real meaning of "LONGBOARDING"

@pebble998 I think you would prefer the rocker concave since you are interested in doing some freestyle and cruising as well as freeriding.

@xboxman100yyy you would probably be a bit more comfortable on the pintail 37, but it's not much of a difference between the two.

Hey, I would suggest the Stimulus over the Durians. I am not a fan of 75mm wheels for freeride/slides. For some set-ups they will get wheel bite and personally I do not like how much the durains slow me down when sliding. The grip to slip ration to me is not fun for all speeds of riding.

@DocterE01 hey Andy! You may want to check out our new Freeride boards which will be out soon. They can definitely handle high speeds and some freestyle as well. These boards are also very durable so you wouldn't have to worry about it snapping.
