Such a quick but powerful fill @4:20 and the high hat fill @4:38 was awesome! Wild Mick Brown is an awesome drummer no one ever talks about, he's a beast on drums with a small kit.
This is a classic case of the live version sounding in my opinion better than the original. I think the depth of the guitars and drumming as well as voice of Derek make this an incredible performance!
I disagree, this slower, heavier version with Wild Mick Brown on drums and Greg Smith on bass stomps any other version out there, including the original studio track. The sound engineer during this Midwest City Madness Tour was on point. Been to over 10 Ted Nugent concerts in my lifetime as a rocker and a drummer and you simply CANNOT TOP THIS PERFORMANCE! LIVE OR IN THE STUDIO. Drums were miced just right, guitars and amps were perfectly tuned and synced up. Funny story, I saw Ted live in Chicago mid 2000s with this same line up. The opening band just had finished, the stage spun and shifted with Ted's band and they setup quickly, Ted started off with Cat Scratch Fever and about 100 people up front took off and ran for cover. I mean, haven't they ever been to one of his concerts? Lol. The sound coming from those amps and stacks drove a boatload of people out of there! It was funnier than he'll. Still, the loudest concert I've ever been to and I've been to over 100 in my lifetime, my ears rang for a week, should have wore protection, but nobody did back then. Now , as I'm older and losing my hearing, I wish I would have.
This is what happens when you 🎤 mic the drums right and tune the snare perfect and have a great sound engineer. Wild Mick Brown has 3 fantastic fills in this track. The build up and speed and flow through the toms and cymbals@4:12 is awesome, the quick, but powerful fill @4:20 let's you know uncle Ted is about to let it rip, and the high hat fill @4:37is one I've never heard any other drummer do and I'm a rocker and drummer over 35 years. mick just has a power and swag with a compact kit, awesome guy in person too, like to party.
Love Wild Micks short but powerful fill @4:20 , then I've never heard a drummer do a cymbal high hat fill like that @4:38. Awesome and I've been drumming over 35 years, micks a he'll of a drummer,
This is a master piece of rock. Cavalcades, great solos, drums, ritms and variariations of time, nice vocal e base too. It rocks ears and heart deliciously. Long Live to classics!!!
Mick Brown is a hell of a drummer, but man he is a heavy drinker as well. I saw him with Dokken in Athens a few years ago and man he probably had about 15 drinks during the show. I mean he kept asking and I kept bringin'. I'm amazed how he even managed to end the show in good shape.
dont get me wrong loved ted when i was 14 .now im 50. listen 2 eric clapton old love live at hyde park i would like him more if he could keep his mouth shut i guess im an old snowflake
Ted is always great. He's got a very distinct sound and tone. If you listen to Ted next to any guitar virtuoso, he's easy to pick out. Ted will be the better of the two.🤟😁🤙
I’ll never forget leaving EDC with all my friends in the car, tripping are fucking faces off, with this blaring on max volume. It was like it was written for that exact moment in time. I’ll always associate this song with that memory of rolling through the desert, riding on the abyss.
Here I come again now baby Like a dog in heat Tell it's me by the clamor now baby I like to tap the streets Now I've been smoking for so long You know I'm here to stay Got you in a stranglehold baby You best get out of the way The road I cruise is a bitch now baby You know you can't turn me 'round And if a house gets in my way baby You know I'll burn it down You remember the night that you left me You put me in my place Got you in a stranglehold baby You're gone, I crushed your face Yeah, sometimes you want to get higher A sometimes you gotta start low Some people think they gonna die someday I got news you never got to go old Come on, come on up Come on, come on up Come on, come on up Come on, come on up Come on, come on baby Come on, come on, come on, come on up Come on, come on, come on, come on baby Come on, come on, come on The road I cruise is a bitch now baby You know you can't turn me 'round Yeah and if a house gets in my way You know I'll burn it down You remember the night that you left me You put me in my place I got you in a stranglehold baby Last night I crushed your face
This song is timeless: With-hold your baser desires to follow your knee-jerk reactions & listen to the music. You may not realize it; but his music is good for you. Listen!!
OMG, Nuge said the word: “FREEDOM”. That word has been outlawed here in Canada by his majesty, Justin Trudeau, God Emperor for LIFE of HIS Dominion of Canada.
and by the way... Uncle ted forgot more about being a true American in the last ten seconds that most of you will ever know thoughout your entire lives!
They should have re released this track with WILD MICK BROWN on drums Greg Smith on bass and Derek St Holmes on lead vocals this is the best version of this track out there! MICK makes this super heavy and look at that power and swag on drums!
Played that song last Saturday on the streets of Berlin with my oilcan guitar during the Corona manifestation, when the police just grabbed another bloke ...
Love him or hate him strangle hold is probably one of the greatest rock song ever!!

Derek St. Holmes makes this song what it is, always has. Phenomenal voice, just crushed it here.
The guitar work is pretty slick too.
Not to mention what a piece of eye candy he is!
Imagine DIO on vocals
@@codygentry9472 would totally ruin this song
Very true, Ted isn't much of a singer. this song wasn't all his either. That said he played it well and it's a true rock classic song.
FREEDOM! Uncle Ted thanks for your R&R and USA Patriotism!
That drummer is phenomenal!!!!!
WILD MICK BROWN! Wow!
The riff is awesome, but that bass line and rhythm section is solid gold.
The origanal, St. Holmes vocals are killer
Agreed 🇺🇸
💣👌
Drumming is so tight as is the whole band! Derek is on point!

…no way. NOTHING could EVER surpass the studio version…

That song will never get old. One of my favorite performances ever!
Man that snare sound 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Derek St. Holmes FOR THE WIN
I sure am happy that you love our legal and finest President Trump 😊❤🇺🇸👍 A fellow Central Texan 👍
IMHO one of the sexiest guitar solos ever!!!! You can just zone out to it too, close your eyes and let the music flow through you!!

00:27 is all I needed to hear
Here I come again now baby
Like a dog in heat
Tell it's me by the clamor now baby
I like to tap the streets
Now I've been smoking for so long
You know I'm here to stay
Got you in a stranglehold baby
You best get out of the way
The road I cruise is a bitch now baby
You know you can't turn me 'round
And if a house gets in my way baby
You know I'll burn it down
You remember the night that you left me
You put me in my place
Got you in a stranglehold baby
You're gone, I crushed your face
Yeah, sometimes you want to get higher
A sometimes you gotta start low
Some people think they gonna die someday
I got news you never got to go old
Come on, come on up
Come on, come on up
Come on, come on up
Come on, come on up
Come on, come on baby
Come on, come on, come on, come on up
Come on, come on, come on, come on baby
Come on, come on, come on
The road I cruise is a bitch now baby
You know you can't turn me 'round
Yeah and if a house gets in my way
You know I'll burn it down
You remember the night that you left me
You put me in my place
I got you in a stranglehold baby
Last night I crushed your face
That's some sustain

What a lot of people don't know is, when Stranglehold was first recorded, it was done in ONE TAKE, and that Ted's solo was mostly "off the cuff".
Wow! That is very cool!!! 😎
They should have re released this track with WILD MICK BROWN on drums Greg Smith on bass and Derek St Holmes on lead vocals this is the best version of this track out there! MICK makes this super heavy and look at that power and swag on drums!
TedNugent and Metalica doing this song together would be very interesting😮

What is that Gibson Ted is playing? Didn't He always like those big ol' Birdland guitars?
