- Meeting Forbidden! I had the honor of meeting the band Forbidden when I was in San Francisco/Sacramento last month. I had so many special memories on this day and there was a lot of 'first time' that happened to me. Chris Kontos (drummer) arranged everyone from his band Forbidden to come together for a rehearsal that day and I was invited to Oaklands to join them. It was such a special experience. I had never seen a metal band perform before and I had the honor of watching them rehearse in full volume and so up close and personal. They played 4 of their awesome songs and I was literally blown away. After that Craig Locicero (guitarist) gave me his guitar and I got to jam a few songs with the drummer Chris Kontos the first time. Craig also taught me so many new things and it was an honor learning from him. After that Steve Smyth (guitarist) also taught me one of the Forbidden songs 'Forbidden Evil' and soon after that I got to jam this song together with the entire band! What a moment that was. I also got to play Steve's guitar while my little brother Rudhra played real drums for the first time with Chris Kontos teaching him. Overall, this day was packed with so many fond memories and special thanks to Gwynne Coffee, Chris Kontos, Craig Locicero, Steve Smyth, Norman Skinner and Matt Camacho for making this so special for me.
I also got the honor to meet Harald Oimoen that day and he gifted me a fully personalised 'Murder In The Front Row' book! This book is so amazing and it was an absolute honor to receive such a precious gift from the legend Harald himself! Thank you so much Harald for such a thoughtful gift and for your kind words, love and support.

The "Guru-Shishya parampara" ( roughly translates to Teacher-Student tradition) transcends cultures and genres. Just requires highly accomplished and humble humans who are life-long students of music ( like the band members of Forbidden) passing on their discipline , knowledge and skills to the next generation i.e. Maya. Way to go Maya and kudos to the Forbidden team.

The reception for Maya in USA by the metal legends is awesome . There is a reason why USA is great, there is so much humility and kindness in greatness. Maya herself is an unpretentious child. So comfortable in her culture and receptive to others. Way to go Maya. Go on and rock the world.

I'm not a metal listener. Chanced upon this due to Carnatic connections. While Maya is truly a gifted guitarist, the Forbidden are the true musicians. They were humble, welcoming, warm human beings putting music ahead of egos. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this video for more than just the music.

@@suchitraroy1758 I've met them all in person as well so can attest to how cool they are. Chris Kontos especially is active in the scene and you'll see him at a lot of shows in the Bay Area.
