I have just found your channel as we are researching a trip to Alaska next year. Love the content and I am looking forward to watching all of your Alaska videos. We use to live in North Carolina but moved to Missouri to be close to grand kids.

Enjoyed this video very much as we prepare for our AK trip. I especially loved the hikes you did at Hatcher Pass and Denali. Where exactly was the trail you took at Hatcher Pass? Im guessing you picked it up at Summit Lake but can't find a ridge trail anywhere.

Thanks so much for watching. If you drive up Hatcher Pass you can't miss the trail, it's right off the parking lot at the Pass, cheers!

as we prepare for alaska next May we are watching your series all over again! 2 questions, what did you use to find your campgrounds/provincial parks? was it Milepost or something else? Susan, you mentioned booking the campground in Denali in advance, were there any other places you had to book in advance ? (campgrounds /excursions?) by the way, you and my wife are the same age, you mentioned your birth year on one of the videos 😉

Thank you for watching our videos; we enjoyed every moment of our trip and hope yours is equally wonderful!
The only reservation we made far in advance was for Denali; reservations for 2022 opened on December 1, 2021. We wanted to be Teklanika Campground for a week and didn't want to chance not getting a site. We planned our trip around that reservation.
We were before most of the summer crowds and didn't have any trouble finding spots in Alaska state parks. We did make a couple of reservations the day before our arrival in Seward and in Valdez (a private campground in Valdez so we could charge all our batteries after a couple days of rain). We did try to get to first come first served campgrounds by early afternoon (or late morning) and only found a full campground once! We had no trouble finding spots in Canada, either. But again, we were before the tourist curve.
I hope this helps! Feel free to contact us with any the questions you might think of. Oh, you should get the Milepost publication; it's super helpful regarding roads, campgrounds, gas, food, history, and lodging in both both western Canada and Alaska.
      Have fun!
      Susan
