Day Trip to Punta del Este, Uruguay

- I joined a small group for a full-day excursion from Montevideo to Punta del Este. We made several stops along the way, including Casapueblo, the famous hand sculpture, the lighthouse, and the wavy bridge. We also relaxed on the beach, saw sea lions, explored the peninsula, went shopping, and had lunch at Zazu.

Nicest place in South America! This month of january was fantastic weather and many people all around. In addition to its tourist attractions, it has hidden gems such as the organic fair or rustic cafes. In its surroundings there are wineries that can be visited.

2 to 3 hours??! Montevideo is only a little more than an hour away from Punta del Este. Maybe 1:30. It would only take you more than 2 hours to get there if you’re a very slow driver. 😊
The best time to visit Casapueblo is at sunset. Not only do you get to enjoy one of the most spectacular views of the sunset , but you’ll also hear a recorded poem by Carlos Páez Vilaró himself.
Well, for us it was over two hours, and our guide mentioned 2-3. Maybe we took the scenic route… 😅

Full time their are only around 12-13,000 people who reside there all year round… but in January hits about half a million visitors. 👍
