I love how the Judge looks at him after he says "..and guilty is spelled wrong". Ultimately it doesn't matter that guilty is spelled wrong because he's caught him out on the ruse already, but he still gives him a hard time and lets him know of yet another slip up because he's so fed up with Hutz.
That was the brilliance of early simpsons.. so much thought put into the jokes. These days it's just petty one lines and cheap attempts at being humorous
We had a judge, where I lived, with a teensy-weensy bit of a drinking problem. On a couple occasions, he got liquored up in local bars, then dropped trou. Not in a sexual way, mind: more of a "I've had enough, so off to bed, and I should take my pants off" way. Naturally all the radio DJs found this hilarious.
My favourite part of this is that Hutz goes to the trouble of swapping the verdict but still wrote "guilty". So even if the judge was dumb enough to fall for the whole thing his client would still have lost the case. Imagine if the jury had actually found Marge not guilty. Hutz would have messed that up!
Don't worry Mr. Simpson i watched Matlock in a bar last night the sound wasn't on but i think i got the gist of it *while combing his hair with a fork* lol omg my favourite simpsons character
Know how Simpsons writer and David Crosby lookalike Jon Swartzwelder is always showing up in the background on The Simpsons? They should’ve made him a member of the jury just to make things confusing. So many people have thought he was David Crosby during those cameos, and I think the animators should’ve taken advantage of it and put them both in the same scene for once.
I feel like Hutz calling himself a "law-talking guy" might not just be a dumb thing, but an accidentally truthful one. Did he ever actually graduate law school and pass the Bar?
he was going to be the voice of zapp brannigan but he died just before it was going to be made, so the voice for fry, zoidberg, professor did zapp aswell (billy west)
Actually you would use "it's" for the possessive like "Somebody stole it's parts" and you use "its" for the contraction like "Its gonna be a hot day". This is a messed up rule but the possessive overrules the contraction in written language.
Billy West voices Zapp in Futurama, and Zapp was suppoused to be Phil Hartman's character. That's why Zapp sounds like Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz. And Lyle Lanley. Why they don't use Billy West in The Simpsons as well as they used him as the replaceable voice to Phil Hartman in Futurama. Billy West's imitation of Phil Hartman is amazing, you know.
They didnt hire actors to copy those voices as a tribute to Phil Hartman and to symbolize the fact that he was irreplaceable. Troy Mcclure and Lionel Hutz died along with Phil.
NO FFS. IN THE SAME WAY THAT THE FINEST "X" OF JOE BECOMES JOE'S FINEST, THE FINEST "X" OF IT BECOMES IT'S. "The building and it's first floor", for instance.
0:24 Hutz may be an awful lawyer, but dang, that's some pretty smooth sleight of hand when he swaps the verdicts!
I didnt even notice that till now lmao
Whoa I didn’t even see that!
Yeah, but too bad he even fails at that. He still got the guilty verdict. And, he also made things worse.
they animiated it! :O
@@Mu91c14n I'm guessing he spelled guilty the same way Homer did: "G I L L T Y".

I mean, Hutz repeatedly ran over Snyder’s son, no wonder Snyder would do anything to further humiliate Hutz in court.
think it speaks to the fact that the decision was so uncontested and hasty that they just wrote it down in 2 seconds without proofreading
This is a fairly serious situation and Lionel Hutz could potentially be disbarred or at least face some fines.
@@tf2oshaaa I bet Hutz wrote it as “Gillty”, much like Homer did in “Krusty gets Busted”.
That was the brilliance of early simpsons.. so much thought put into the jokes. These days it's just petty one lines and cheap attempts at being humorous
"Do you know you are not wearing any pants?"
If I had a dollar for every-time I've been asked that....
David Crosby must be so disappoint

One of the funniest moments in TV history. Perfection. Phil Hartman at his best.
The judge just feels sorry for Hutz. He doesn’t want to take his license away 😂
RIP Phil Hartman, making us laugh 25 years after his passing
@@herrikudo An absolute legend in my opinion. Even his SLN audition is comedic gold. The Simpsons was never the same without him.
"I move for a bad court.. thingy..." lol i loved this episode
notice Hutz's sleight of hand switch of the card there lol
Even so, he wrote “Gillty”, which is why the Judge says it’s spelled wrong.
I love how everyone is just cool with him not wearing pants until he says that he rests his case, then their eyes drift downwards
Then he just carries on regardless
I love how the judge says "and 'guilty' is SPELLED wrong!" lol
Eep.
And the judge looks down at Hutz, meaning he's tried this trick before. :P
He clearly didn't think this through
@@EHH246 probably because Hutz spelled it as “G I L L T Y”, similar to Homer.

Alex Jone'a lawyer be like
LMAO! Oh God I miss Phil Hartman, you just know he would still be doing this gig even today :)
I like how they waited until hutz finished his testimony to let him know about his misfortune.
This is a clip of the Alex Jones defamation lawsuit.
0:02 they all look down at the same time 😂😂👍
I think that scene may be the funniest from this show (at least, in my opinion).
I think it’s a top five scene ever
That jump gets me every time ... 🤣🤣🤣
Mr. Giuliani, is that you?
God I miss Lionel Hutz.
0:24 That sleight of hand was pretty slick though
Phil Hartman's delivery is spot and the animation is so charming.
Don't worry Mr. Simpson i watched Matlock in a bar last night the sound wasn't on but i think i got the gist of it *while combing his hair with a fork* lol omg my favourite simpsons character
"This verdict is written on a cocktail napkin. And it still says guilty! And guilty is spelled wrong".
Eeep
My friend pulled the verdict gag in our legal class and me and him were the only ones that got it, so sad
Haha damn what a waste of a good gag
I love how [explains joke like a slow-witted 5-year-old].
So true!
I love you Phil.Have fun in heaven.
R.I.P Phil Hartman
I did not notice the switch he did with the verdict until I watched it again. ^^
Yeah! I've never noticed that!!!! Good eye!
The funny thing is he gave an entire speech with no pants an no one said anything until he was done.
LOL David Crosby!

"Oops, shouldn't have that bar association logo there"
this whole scene is amazing. old Simpsons ftw
I feel like Hutz calling himself a "law-talking guy" might not just be a dumb thing, but an accidentally truthful one. Did he ever actually graduate law school and pass the Bar?
I sincerely hope not....
Indeed. It's why we can understand each other.
Hahahaha holy shit easily one of the best simpsons moments. Hartman crushes it
And that comprises my knowledge of civil and criminal procedure.
Still one of my favorite scenes 😂
amazing, amazingly funny scene.

eep.
He’s not wearing pants the whole time XD
Bourbon the brownest of the brown liquor
Uh... Yeah, right. That's REALLY convincing. You SURE put me in my place...
Clever fruit❤
"Giulty"
"Hmm... Mr. Hutz Do you know your not wearing any pants
“And guilty is spelled wrong!”
*E*
If only everyone in the world could please you, we'd all be happier..
I second that
"Bad court thingy."
Trump’s legal team in 34 seconds.
Ah thanks
Subpoena power + discovery process under penalty of perjury + being a strong persuader= law thingy justice
Somehow someway broh. Juris doctorate
To be fair, that judge hates him ever since Hutz accidentally ran over his dog.
I think this episode came out before there were memes.
I miss this character
0:10 - He's shaking his head because he knows from Hutz not wearing pants that he relapsed and started drinking again.....
Knowing Hutz he spelled guilty as gilte 🤣
Hi, I'm Phil Hartman! You might remember me as the voice as Troy McLaure and Lionel Hutz.
We will always remember you Phil.
EPIC WIM
welp you implied you want to force this meme now its voided forever. great.
"This verdict is written on a cocktail napkin!"
"And it STILL says 'Guilty!'"
00:21 erright
0:11 is genius
Sure.
Lionel Mess.
Don't you mean Lionel Messi?
The Simpsons died with Hartman. It's a fact! RIP
because there was so much ambiguity in what "Lionel Hutz at it's finest" meant...
0:11 I move for a bad court thingy. You mean a miss trial? Yeah that’s why your the Judge and I’m the law talking guy. The Lawyer? Right
Wow, another person on RUclips who cares about grammar. That's the second I've ever seen...
You really made me laugh.
PEOPLE BACKOFF FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY.
WE HAVE A GRAMMER WARRIOR ON LOOSE.
Back when the Simpsons joke per second was 1/2 or 1/3 now it's maybe 1/2400
No, it would be "Somebody stole its parts." "Its" is possesive here and correct. "Its" is never a contraction of "it is".
I think I remember a YTMND of this, but it had Harvey Birdman instead.
I hate when I forget pants.
and I move for a "make a better comeback" thingy and a "don't take it personally when someone corrects your shitty grammar" thingy
Actually, it's "its" when defining a possession of an entity defined as "it" - the apostrophe is absent as an exception to the rule.
cry.... so... much.....

First, this is truly classic Simpsons. Second, it show how great Phil Hartman was.
Eep.
Woh, hold on there, Tonto.

The "U" was probably left out of "Guilty" which was why it was spelt wrong.
_Mata v. Avianca_
How do you think he misspelled GUILTY?
I think he wrote it like,
Gillty
Works on contingency?
No, money down!
gilty
Mr. Khono, do you know you're not wearing any pants?
No, I don't think I will. Feel free to do so yourself, though.
Gilty.
Umm the episode where Marge and Ruth Powers become friends and go out a lot. Sorry, can't remember the title.
NO FFS. IN THE SAME WAY THAT THE FINEST "X" OF JOE BECOMES JOE'S FINEST, THE FINEST "X" OF IT BECOMES IT'S. "The building and it's first floor", for instance.
The video should end at :12
Clearly everyone who replied, including you.
Worst Lawyer Ever.
Can someone tell me what episode it was where Lionel Hutz says that he overheard the Simpsons talking while rummaging through their trash?
10 years late but im pretty sure it’s “marge on the lam”
His junk was just all out! Huh?
No, go look it up. I paid attention in English class.
