  • Situated in what the locals call “The Garden Parish,” Ocho Rios is a Caribbean port town located on the north coast of Jamaica. In this video, we’ll provide an overview of our December 2021 visit to Ocho Rios, when our ship - the Carnival Sunrise - docked at the port and we visited two beaches and a few shopping areas within walking distance of the cruise terminal.

    This was the best cruise port video I found on here! I looked at about 15 videos and none were as good as this one. It was 5 minutes but it was the most informative 5 minutes. You packed in more information in 5 minutes tgan some of these other 20 and 30 minute videos on here. You’ve gained a subscriber!🙌🏾❤️

    I was just there in Feb (22). You can't walk from the James Bond pier to town unless you have a death wish. There are no sidewalks and you'd have to walk along the road. And the way they drive, you don't want to do that. They only way is by taxi. And if at all possible, do not go there during Spring Break.

    Which beach did you prefer? We will be there 12/26 and would like to enjoy a relaxing, fun day on the beach with good food. Thank you

      From what we've heard, Ocho Rios Bay Beach is very popular. However, the beach was closed when we visited, so everybody we saw went to Margaritaville. There are also excursions that go to other areas/beaches, so you may want to check into those as well.

    Literally went here 1 week ago. The hustling is extremely aggressive there.

    When I landed in Nassau, the Cruise Director made a warning announcement to all passengers to be careful because the the city may be unsafe.
    Is Jamaica safe? Did the Cruise ship make a similar announcement before you disembarked?

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  2 года назад +2

      We did not hear a similar announcement for Jamaica, but the US State Department currently has Jamaica as a Level 3 ("Reconsider Travel") Advisory "due to crime" and The Bahamas are a Level 2 ("Exercise Increase Caution") Advisory also "due to crime." We visited both Nassau and Jamaica twice during our December cruises and didn't feel unsafe for the relatively limited activities we did, but we recommend reading more of the State Department's advisory information to help you determine your comfort level: travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories.html/

      @@TheJellyBeans , lol I wonder what level the US would classify itself. In the history of tourism in Jamaica and the Bahamas, we have never heard of crime against tourists being rampant. Crime against tourists in Jamaica- I know for certain- is non existent. They treat tourists like kings and queens in Jamaica. For any country you go, you should exercise caution. Don't go out wearing flashy jewelry, for example.

      Nassau is Bahamas Capital so you will encounter crime there.Unlike Jamaica our tourist areas are more in the Quieter side of the island

    I am going there in July on Carnival. Do we need a passport if we are porting from Miami?

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  Год назад +1

      Our understanding is that you do not need a passport if you are on a closed-loop cruise (starting/ending in Miami), but you can double-check with Carnival to make sure of the requirements for your particular cruise.

      Then don't stop there!!! You don't have to stop there! I don't know why ppl can be so negative! What about this place looks "dull"? English is clearly your second or third language. This place looks picturesque or gorgeous to me- and I have been to over 60 countries and counting. There is nothing dull about it.
