Interesting that Sid and Dick were prolific comedy writers in the 1960s where they often were found in the Lyons Tea rooms Forest Hill SE London working all day on scripts. They even wrote for Cannon and Ball in the 80s where they re-used comedy material they had written for Morcambe and Wise decades earlier ! Both died in the late 1990s, do what you got to do when you can because it just doesn't last.
That is really interesting, I googled them but could only find them on a few Posters of the time, so I'm glad they did have some success. 👍 A tough ladder to climb!
I think that was a different Sid and Dick. The comedy writers were 'Hills and Green' rather than 'Jackson and Collins' who were in this documentary.
@@NorthernerInSpace --- Yeah looking them up, they look totally different. It's not them.
@@NorthernerInSpace oh well... good old Sid & Dick, never the marrying kind but still gave the ladies a thrill. 😁
The real life Julian and Sandy from Round the Horne.
Bona to varda their jolly old eeks!
@@Smudgie Dolly old eeks if you please.
Excellent clip. Shows how the traditional British seaside resort was already in decline in 1967. Odd that it was filmed in colour though.
It's fascinating as an outsider to look at an entertainers lifestyle. They are interesting people.
I think this is life. 😮
Oh, how bona to varda your jolly old eek, Mr 'Orne.
Love seeing these, such a different world. But I can't decide if it's charming or depressing..!
'You'd probably earn more as a waitress' - er yer, thanks for that, very encouraging Dad! 😩
2:47 Where's me washboard?
they were bummin each other 100%
I wonder what became of them ?
Seems many could still be around, but are now in their 70's and 80's. I don't recognize any of them, so they probably stayed regional.
@@4seeableTV -- There's no way Sid and Dick are still around, the girls maybe.
"I could kiss the ladies all night long." Yeah, OK mate. :D
Yeah when he said that was the worst part I think it was a bit of a froydien slip
He looks a little like Robbin Williams.
@@gump5ter01 -- Freudian, from Sigmund Freud.
He is certainly well practised at taking a creampie to the face!
Allo u ain't loud nuff mate
Ooooorrr Ello Ducky .... Crumpet not for me Dear !
Gone are the days when people wearing suits gobbed in the streets.
Beats me why anyone wanted to be in show business it never brought happiness to most of them.
For many it's a compulsion to make other people happy, not oneself
That audience looks like God’s waiting room.
