- "What great stuff!" "What amazing variety!" Those are things we're used to hearing at the big Summer Portland antique shows, and this July's promises to be the biggest in this new era! We're looking back at our last Portland show to see why this year's has such promise for antique amazements and vintage amusements!
The quality and breadth of merchandise dealers at Portland, Oregon's Expo Center bring for the Rose City Vintage Market is momentous! Cases full of adorable 1920s bisque figures, booths full of stylish vintage fashion, specialists in Bakelite/Catalin jewelry, art glass, advertising...this place is the place to be for collectors and dealers from all over the west coast!
My sales already have surpassed all goals, so I spend a bit of time with show and tell in my last space here (with some spoiler alerts as to what I might be bringing in July 2023!) From a giant telescope to a Picasso poster, there's a lot to catch the eye from a distance, a strategy worth remembering as I choose for this year's event.
We have so much fun with friends new and old, RUclips viewers and social media fans, and getting in some last minute shopping that we scarcely have time to film! You'll just have to come to this year's version to see it all, especially with Laura Caldwell's @leftcoastrevivals hosting a parking lot flea market out front!

I have had teddy bears made from all of my vintage furs. My furs came from great grandmas’ s and grandma’s in my family. The bears make great “Memory Bears”.
😂 you can be so funny. You are so appreciated. Thanks George
It's like visiting a typewriter museum!
I'll be there Saturday morning with Mom. Can't wait!
Showing vintage fashion fun.
Thanks for showing us around! Love getting to see it!
I'm glad to hear it's going well.
You've been through a lot.
That was amazing to see. Thanks George ❤
The Bakelike jewelry is to die for, and all of those colors. I have died and gone to Jewelry Heaven. Such nice glassware all over the show. I hope you did well at the sale.😛🧿💛❤👖😛🧿💛❤👖😛🧿💛❤👖😛🧿💛❤👖😛🧿💛❤👖😛🧿💛❤👖😛🧿💛❤👖😛🧿💛❤👖😛🧿💛❤👖😛🧿💛❤👖😛🧿💛❤👖😛🧿💛❤
The yellow sunglasses are my kinda thing! Anything unusual I can put on my cranium AND is functional makes me super happy
I get that so much!
Have you seen the goggles with the working mini "windshield wipers"? 😍
I still have my small portable typewriter with box that I got as a child.
BRAUTIFUL THINGS THK U
Fun video George! Thanks for sharing!
So informative!
Can't wait to see the footage from this year! Say hi to Laura. Love, love, love watching her online. Both of you are dynomite.
Frame 1:40 Oh my Gosh... Its the Butler from Rocky Horror Picture Show !!! 🤣😂 Frame 2:18 + Kate " Follow that Bug ", would go bonkers over all those BakeLite Bangles, & the other odd's & in's !
Wonderful
Fur has never gone out of style in Detroit, even with the controversy around it.
Cold weather places still appreciate fur
Now is the time to buy quilts
Hi George, this is a fun video to watch again. Congratulations on your sales🎉
Thanks so much!
I saw that wonderful Seminole doll. I grew up in Hollywood Fla from 1971. It was simple then , moved there from California dad retired Navy.
I belonged to Friends of the Everglades, I was a Marjorie Stone man Douglass. I loved a visit to Seminoles reservation Miami
Many intetesting items for sure ❤
I learn so much from you, thank you so much.
Just seen on a reseller video a mug that says ‘I don’t need Google - my mother knows everything’ which amused me !
lol true
Lots of cool things
My friend and I are going to be there Sunday. Can't wait to stop by and say hi!!
I will def be going to antique shows after seeing this video. Thanks:)
Thanks for all the wisdom. Now my head hurts. Lol I am vintage myself, 67 in June.
Yes, wow!! Enjoyed your video!
What a great show loved the video
I didnt know the dog was alive!! 😂
I love the wooden rack holding the coverlets. Great for quilts
Holy God, the lace bobbins! I'm in a historical re-creation group, and to see those, so many of them--wow!!
Loved seeing all the wonderful things! Thanks George!❤
There was a red kitty clock that you showed. His eyes and tail moved back and forth. My Granny had one in the kitchen used to love watching him move as he kept time, especially when she was baking. Thanks for bringing back that memory. You have a wonderful day and safe traveling.
We cannot wait to go there with you !
Woot! Going to be boiling hot this weekend. Indoor air conditioning! I will come by and say hi. :)
This show seems to be one to go to for great pieces🥰
Great video and I don't think there was a single ad inserted in the whole show. What a treat!
Sunshine eyes
Brian Jones sunglasses!
Mary at Midtown is awesome! I was talking with her about you a bit ago. 😁
Thank you, George, great video 😊
Great binocular! Would like to have this. Astronomy is a hobby of mine.
Midtown mod had some Catalin chess pieces there that caught my eye. It didn't look like there was a complete set, though. There was a crucifix, just above the "Somebody Cares" motto, that I liked. Those red mercury glass stag vases would look great on a mantle. That Dickson & Sons bride's basket was fantastic! It would stand up proudly next to any epergne. I really like that female bust you had there that you got in NY. I liked those bobbins your friend had! That blue epergne is a beauty, and I liked the goldfinch figurine you had there, too. I have some marionettes...somewhere...a friend from Indonesia gave me. I have no idea how old they are, but they are nice ones. That looked like a wonderful show! Thanks for showing us about!!!
She didn't seem to have full sets, so much has been broken up over the years. I really like Mercury glass (even if it was a bad idea and hard to find in good condition), and the red really grabbed me! That was one of the most interesting Bride's Baskets I've seen. I'm glad you liked the bust, I know this is a very mid-century focused show but there's room to stretch into everything from Art Nouveau and Mission forward, I even brought two pairs of Meissen and Capodimonte candleholders and almost sold one! It really was such a great show and I'm excited it's going in such a good direction.
How fun! And I’m glad you had a booth buddy so you could show us around.
Hi George, wonderful video. Loved you in the yellow sunglasses. Would have loved going to Portland this time but hopefully next year. Sending smiles.
Selling just down the aisle from you - looking forward to saying Hi. -SJ
Thank you for the MidTown Mod heads-up...I love a good Buzza print! Most resellers pass over them in videos as they don't usually go for much money but they can be truly beautiful and varied (not just an ode to Mother, a Best Friend or a Prayer). The reverse painted surrounds with a good graphic are my favourites...I have a wish list.😊
Can all that be old 😮
Would love to see this show in person, that dealer that had the bisque comic figures from the 30's I would have tried to purchase the Our Gang. The dealer who had the German figures I have run across. Love what you filmed, have a blast
I really like fur and it is very practical for cold climates. So I agree with buying vintage. Otherwise faux fur is a good choice. It would be a shame to let existing fur go to waste.
I just love the perfume bottles like you said, they are hard to find! Thank you George for the video! Wish you’d come to Colorado for our shows.that would be fantastic ☺️
What a great show that was! I hope this year’s is a phenomenal one for you George!❤
What a great show and video!! I loved the Sasha elephant set!!!
YAY!!!!!!!!!
Great video George! Thanks for sharing!
Oh...those bookends! I am in ♥️ with those weirdos! I remember Laura filming from the sale last year, when she got to your booth you were so busy you barely had time to wave. Best of luck for this year's show.
Loved the glasses! So fun to see beautiful glass and other items. Thanks George!😊
George! I have ❤that pink Chalet piece at the center on top. I bought it from you! We love it and get many compliments on it. All the best. Nina (9a) from Michigan, currently antiquing in SE Penn.
And there was a typewriter dealer there! David collects them and we rarely see them in reseller videos. This guy had some unique machines. OK, now we need to fly west to antique! Hugs! 9a
(Keepers Finder) HI All! I'm late to the party....again!
Loved your opening content. Lovely!
I just love watching your videos learning all the history of these items. The beautiful and elegant glass is my favorite. I've started to collect Uranium glass after I found out the lamp I inherited is UG. I would love to go to this show but I live too far away. Thank you for showing all these very interesting items.
Enjoyed the show! Glad I was able to make it live this time. So many beautiful things. I can't wait until I'm able to make a show. And I would love to get some of your mermaids and pixies! LOL In my dreams. Have a great trip and a fun show.
Who is digging up bakelite ? Its everywhere
Great show as always!❤️
I am so disappointed that you didn’t model the Elsa hat!
❤
There are companies which make shoes accordingt to old examples and patterns.
I wanna be there
Is it "y-eth" or "with?" Idk. I was taught "with." Anyway, that first fNcy wedding basket, if they would bring it down to 1200. Or 1250.00, I would buy it. So very exquisite!
Frame 4:52 Geoege, I don't know if it is, but it looks like an Old Candy Striper Uniform
I luv Nordstrom
Sorry I missed the chat George! Looking forward to seeing the aforementioned Sasha B. Do you know if you are in the same space @The Antique Nomad. Thanks George! ✌🏼
i am in row f #34-35 near front to right of entry
Hey
Here's the couple of glass artists' names to look for. Tommie Rush and Richard Jolley. This is coming on the secondary market and the resale value is doing well. 113 paid, 410 flipped in 36 hours.
Great info! Thank you. I'll look them up, they aren't familiar to me
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Your 'ciao dahlin' ... 😅
Hey I love that booth with the old lithographs with "The Dirty Dogs of Paris", cats , etc. Does anyone know the name of the seller or their shop name?
Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to the July 15 & 16 show. Will there be another show in October?
👍🇨🇦🤗
When and where is a show in Florida?
24 years ago when I was in college and needed cash to finish my portfolio for my junior year (blueprints cost a LOT) I sold my husband's Atmos for 400 bucks. Sighs, I would rather buy old fur than fake. Fake is a petroleum product and very bad for the environment. Old fur is long dead and I had nothing to do with its demise - so I wear it. I also wear my mother's Scasi designer fur I inherited. To not wear it seems kind of rude.
Faux is not real and I don't prefer that generally speaking
I couldn’t believe it when I heard that shabby chic expression had been copyrighted
I'd not heard seems an argument for prior usage
There was a big debate on it on Etsy ‘love you to the moon and back ‘ also copyrighted!
@@lynnedelacy2841 amazing!
Do you know anything abo the value of Wallace Nutting prints
I have a question why can't I find carnival glass on the west coast. I live in Newberg ,Oregon and have never seen it at any Goodwill. But You,Scott,Joshlyn and Dagny it's allover the Goodwill on the east coast. WHY
Very few people lived on the west coast in the 1910-1940's, and the people who did didn't use "fancy glass". LOL
@@llmifgThank you so much for that information.
👋🛵🍉🧡
That was a lamb coat, not poodle. I hope u were joking 😂
The Atmos was way overpriced. They have gone down drastically. Clocks in general have dropped. Apart from that, Atmos Clocks are Very Expensive to Fix, which also scares people away from buying them.
Fur industry is sick if you can watch a documentary on trapping or commercial for industry and have fur after that you don't have a soul😢
what gives? all these shows like this everybody is going apesh!t over all this trinket foo foo!!!!!
