    I bought one a while back because the videos I watched of people removing engines with a floor jack really made me nervous! I don't have big manly muscles so I need to remedy that disadvantage as much as possible! A motorcycle jack is a god send!

    • @SladesVWBeetle
      @SladesVWBeetle  Месяц назад +1

      Oh yes, they are a godsend, it changes the whole game instead of the engine flopping all over the place, I think it’s a much safer way to do it my friend.

    LOL! On my first time changing an VW engine, I used a motorcycle Jack because that is all I had! As it turned out, I had bought it for my motorcycle, but was unable to use it because of the configuration of my exhaust system. Enjoy your channel - very concise and helpful…

    A good tool to have ---- a little oil to the wheel pivots in the rear ---- a little on the wheel spindles ---- will role and maneuver much easier ------ I had a 2 x 10 with a pin through the board that would fit the jack and then a pin was secured from the side of the 2 x 10 that secured the pin to the board -------- then several years ago --- I acquired on old transmission jack form the early fifties ---- has a large handwheel on the side that raises and lowers the unit ------- the board worked fine ----- but the trans jack made it even better ------ Thank you for a new tool up-date ----- that will help a lot of people out ----- Hope you two are staying cool ----- It's a warm one this year ---- dry ------------ Rodney

      Oh, it’s definitely a great tool to have. That was a good idea with the 2x10. This will make life a lot. Easier wished I was doing it before. I knew about it but still kept using a jack but since they offered I grabbed it lol it’s definitely been dry here even even our garden it’s just tanking out. it’s actually sad.

    I have been using my harbor freight jack for quite a while now it works very well. one thing I added was a tilting table that mounts to the top of the jack. it allows you to adjust the axis of the motor to align with the transaxle. there is an adjusting bolt on the table to set the motor to the same plane as the transaxle This takes a lot of stress out of installing a motor.

    • @bjr4567
      @bjr4567 Месяц назад +1

      Sharp idea as the axis is always a concern.

    • @SladesVWBeetle

    • @petelarsen721

      As a side note when you raise the back of the car to clear the fan shroud it changes the angle of the transmission so you need to adjust the motor to match

    Even as wide as the motorcycle jack is, if using a board across it I'd add a couple of cleats to the bottom of the board to "hug" the outsides of the jack platform. Just a little extra stability, because I like to overengineer things. I, too, like that removable apron, and actually am surprised VW didn't make this a standard thing long ago.

    • @SladesVWBeetle
      @SladesVWBeetle  Месяц назад

    A transmission jack works about the same

  • @warrenpeas
    @warrenpeas 7 дней назад

    i have been advised by other owners this is possible to do with a toyota mr2 engine and trans IF i can get the car up high enough to be able to slide the engine out once its lowered on the jack. if the jack only lowers 10 or 11 inches i dunno man
