17 years ago. My teacher gave us a creative writing assignment, that theme was to write ourselves as one of the party goers and write an account of what happened. I took it a little further by making myself not guest, but as a guard who had just changed shifts and had let death in! My teacher loved it.
I love Poe’s works on any normal day, but I must say: this is an elevation of the text I rarely get to see. The use of music and sound effects made this incredibly immersive. Bravo!
This is my favourite Edgar Allen Poe story, and I have to say this is the best reading of it I’ve ever heard. The music fits it perfectly and really amplifies the story. Well done.
Price Prospero thinks he can cheat and escape death, partying while the Red Death rages outside. His demise shows that death is inevitable and thinking you can escape it is just foolish.
sorry broski, but that's an unrelatable statement... corona is cold compared to this fiendish affliction...given the choice of the two, 100% of people would willingly choose the Kung-flu over Ebola Hæmorrhagic Fever...hands down... anyone can try and disprove this with the difficulty breathing, fever, yadda yadda blah blah blah...fact is, corona is survivable, granted you're relatively healthy and don't have an immunity disorder or elderly... Ebola, however, don't matter how healthy you are, if its contracted you are in all respects, Fuck'd...the pain is so bad (while you bleed and puss out of all your pores and holes) that your body tries to fall into unconsciousness, however the neurological effects of this causes you to spasm and seize uncontrollably, which in turn causes bruising that prevents the blood from leaking out so it swells untill it "unzips" in clean lacerations as if it were cut with a scapel...after that, your skin and fatty tissues sluff off like wet tissue paper...and this goes on for hours...you finally die from either over heating and being "cooked" from the inside or your seizure causes you to snap your spine... so yeah... sweet dreams
It's got a lot of relative concepts, ignore that ignorant comment by a science denier. This is definitely a story that is relative, being that the plague comes for the upper class in the end.
This is about TB but after covid I think we can all see that it is about wealthy thinking that they are better than everyone else. Mike Flanagan's show brought me here.
Who else is here because of the Fall of the House of Usher TV show. Directed by Mike Flanagan.... absolutely perfect direction and productoon and, sound production was off the chart. Cinematography was emaculate.

Whhhhhoooooa! This was siiick I mean AWESOME. 😲👺 I haven't read this since I was a kid and it's even more amazing than I remember it. GREAT interpretation, thank you. When I read this story as a child maybe 12 or 13 the sunset that day just happened to be BLOOD RED and my lil kid brain thought the Red Death was coming for ME! lol ...I still vividly remember that sunset and the fear it gave me😨 but now I think what a cool, scary moment! 😁👍
I was brought here from school, but I really like the story. For Halloween next year I already plan on going as the red death since my original plan was someone with a cape and a Masque. I then saw a theatrical version of the Red Death and it looked stunning especially the hat.
Boy, that's nicely read. I can almost never listen to these stories in audio form because the cadence seems all wrong (I realize that's subjective) or the voice just doesn't put me in mind of a great Poe story. But this reading had it all and so I'm subscribed for further Halloween listening. Really great stuff.
If you like "The Masque of the Red Death" you might also like the music for ballet that Nicolas Astrinidis wrote inspired by the story of Edgar Allan Poe, here the video : ruclips.net/video/tyNthC2a748/видео.html

I absolutely hated English class in high school but I loved 12th grade English because half of all of our projects involved at Edgar Allan Poe he is my favorite book writer that I know my name the books that got me into reading was actually The Dark Bane Trilogy of Star Wars but I have no idea who the author was of those books but that was the first book that I read that I felt like I was in the story I was in my early twenties😂
I absolutely love Edgar Allan Poe but I am quite confused. How are you expected to relate to this 😂 perhaps (if you have yet to complete your activity on this great story) you could compare it to the red death to COVID.
@@demetriusjohnson4231 I take it as a metaphor of our lives. We enjoy our time, maybe reminded every once and a while about our inevitable end, then we all die. That is the red death, its our shared experience of eventual death. Or maybe its about a monster killing people, idk lol

Ooooh that would be fun to read
“And Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all.” What a chilling quote! Poe was really one of the best authors.
This quote basically describes Nurgle's dream.
I must say, I’m a fan of Edgar Allan Poe’s work. I really like the darkness and gothic style of his stories.
Favorite poem/story?
I suggest Horror Babble on You Tube, maybe Lovecraft (he was a terrible person, but a ridiculously talented writer)
I think it’s boring
Weirdo
Such a great voice to tell this story!!! 10/10.
Same, just bought an audiobook that wasn't doing it for me at all
Exuberantly read
I had to listen to this for school Little did my English teacher know by making me listen to this he ignited a love for Edgar Allan Poe
I love Poe’s works on any normal day, but I must say: this is an elevation of the text I rarely get to see. The use of music and sound effects made this incredibly immersive. Bravo!
I love how the narrator sets the atmosphere so well! It's so dark and I LOVE IT!!

this is one of my favorite Poe stories of all time and this reading is perfect
I wish we got more of this man, cause this is good stuff
I LOVE this rendition.
In case there are any Phantom of the Opera fans, this is the story that inspired Erik’s “Red Death” masquerade costume!
