From minute 3:30 to 3:33 Gun Clubs' Jeffrey Lee Pierce can be seen standing in the background. He accompanied the recordings of Let Love In and the tour of the Bad Seeds that followed.
Shame on Nick Cave for being one of the only artists who is still happy to perform in the terrorist state of Israel - his reputation is forever tarnished beyond repair !
Martyn just carries the whole thing along with that bass and gives everyone else the freedom and space to work. Conway and Blixa just fucking fabulous here-- so minimal and yet so powerful. So often on stage Blixa just looks like he's never seen a guitar before. He doesn't give a fuck about how it's "supposed" to be played. But he's always creating something interesting with it.
I have watced 7 concerts of N.Cave:s band down in Greece ....it was exellent and sock moments of my life....Thank you Nick you and all the other gyus......
The tune was perfect for scream. that line "along comes a tall handsome man with black dusty coat and a red right hand".... But also your "you're a microscopic cog in his catastrophic plan"... apt
Had the X-Files soundtrack in the 90’s, now with Spotify I’ve rediscovered Nick Cave, highly recommend the track “West country girl” for fans of this track if you are looking for more similar Nick Cave sounds
As versions of West Country girl go, I'd recommend his version during his lecture 'The secret life of the love song.' looks like it's available on RUclips.
this is probably the bad seedisht take of them that exists. amazing performance, whole cast still, spooky lightshow. cant argue with that. it can't get more bad seed than this video
The most tragic thing I ever saw was Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds playing Lollapalooza at high noon on a hot sunny day. The poor band looked like they were going to melt.
It's weird, back in the day, Nick and the Seeds were almost unknown where I lived at the time, but he got imported after Wim Wenders featured the band and even the album cover in the seminal "Wings of Desire". Then Nick got (imagine allcaps) hugely popular and now this song only makes me think of Peaky Blinders. Strange sort of cultural snake eating it's own tail, well, to me at least!
I once saw him walking by the streets of my hometown, São Paulo/Brazil, back in the 80's. He was visiting the Liberdade neighbourhood with a woman that I don't know if she was his girlfriend. Nice revival and superb song.
This is a prime example of how a full band can do so much and so little so tastefully
The lyrics are pure poetry. One of the greatest aussie song writers of all time
"AUSSIE?" I think he would agree when I say, MELBOURNIAN.
"AUSSIE?" I think he would agree when I say, MELBOURNIAN.
take that aussie out and put world in instead. Greetings from Poland.
From Paradise Lost apparently.
One of? I think it’s the greatest Australian artist alive..
This is a one piece of masterpiece which will never ever be replaced. Ever.
I thoroughly agree XO

It's like watching a Sergio Leone film. Masterpiece!
it’s like watching someone speak really slowly while they are blitzed on dope
EXACTLY. Winds me up no end when people relay it to peaky bellends 🙄
Right on, brother!
@@benyoung4305I actually associate it with the X-Files movie.
@@michaelbinbc opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one and they only care about their own. Look after yours my friend.
Overlooked Avantgarde poet. Brilliant lyricist
this live version is sooo good. you can distinguish every contribution from each bad seed
Glad this song got the show it deserved
Shame on Nick Cave for being one of the only artists who is still happy to perform in the terrorist state of Israel - his reputation is forever tarnished beyond repair !
The bassline is absolutely bangin
I feel those base in my soul.
Sou do Brasil e adoro Nick Cave. Baixista é muito bom
The definitive line up of The Bad Seeds
One of the greatest songs of all time.
I agree. Just like about another 1000 greatest songs of all time, I know.
There is no “one” greatest of all time. Only greater.
relax
Very glad that people rediscover Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds

Hypnotic. Mysterious. Enchanting. I like.
This song reminds me a lot of The Doors
That'll be the organ.
@@noverrr4508 the voice too
Same for me
Reminds me of Joy Division
I've always thought that too, it reminds me of Riders on the Storm at times.
Rest in Peace Conway Savage, great on the keys.
The tune was perfect for scream.
that line "along comes a tall handsome man with black dusty coat and a red right hand"....
But also your "you're a microscopic cog in his catastrophic plan"...
apt

Such an incredibly tight performance.
the way this is woven into peaky blinders is EXTRAORDINARY !!!!
Wicked!,,, so dark and deep music.
Oh Nick, you can give me the chills anytime you sing “Red right hand 🖐” lol 😆
I can honestly say I didn’t think much of this song in 1994 but in 2024 it blows my mind. What a fuckin trip.
Wonderful.
Thank you BBC Music. I love when these pop up!
"I guess they're right! Senior citizens, although slow and dangerous behind the wheel, can still serve a purpose. Don't you go dying on me!"
Yes you made my day
👏👏👏👏👏👏
That's my first memory of the song... then Scream. Amazing that it's hung out in the soundtrack shadows forever. Because. It's. Perfect.
“Alright, just get the bare essentials though, that’s the last of our dough!” “Hey, what do I look like?”
“I got robbed by a sweet old lady on a motorised cart”
Great song and performance. One of the greats
THE BEST.
One of the best voices in music, especially delightful (and sexy might I add) on the opener of the album that this very song is on, "Do You Love Me?".

saw them in Washington when blixa was in the lineup. Amazing
The most tragic thing I ever saw was Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds playing Lollapalooza at high noon on a hot sunny day. The poor band looked like they were going to melt.
Elrond has some pipes!
Haven't seen that in years, fecking awesome!
I know this from the Scream movies. Fit that movie really well.
Just so Awesome and great man it's so impossible to pin it down it's just that Fantastic. Well Done and you Should Be. Brilliant.
Beautiful, chilling and erudite.
Best version ever.
Andrew Weatherall mixed it at one of his gigs. Absolutely epic, miss that fella.
I feel like I'm falling in love with nick while this video (and cameraman too)
The dripping contempt is what makes it brilliant.

Sin duda alguna, el artista más grande que queda en estos tiempos . El mejor Letrista del sigo XXI.

He used to live in Sao Paulo in the early nineties, correct me if I'm wrong
My love
Surprised no one mentions the movie "Scream" got me into this
That's incredible.
Textbook of how to create a sense of impending doom and eeriness in music. Scary shit.
So handsome!
Before peaky… and deserved of my respect ❤

Por ordenes de los Peaky Blinders. Esta es la mejor canción ♥️
