I Knew Mr. Bellson for a about Four-Years. He Was The First Spokesperson for My Triplet Drumm Gloves. What a Phenomenal Drummer and Incredible Human Being. As for The Other Drummers-All Icons and Drumming Treasures! Jimmy Lento
Four of my favorite drummers of all time. Never thought I would see Philly Joe and Irv Cottler on the same stage in my life. Amazing! Thanks so much for posting!
5 drummers - 4 stationary and 1 wandering and dancing: great showmanship. Caterina was a multi-talented multilingual phenomenon of her time indeed. Nice footage this is. THANKS.
I never saw this footage before, wow!! to have 4 of the greatest drummers of all time, absolutely phenominal indeed. To top it off, having the honor to be introduced by Victor Borge, a true honor indeed.
Louie´s fluent style is recognized immediately. He also ruled the drum-album "the drum session" with Shelly Manne, Willie Bobo and Paul Humphrey in 1976.
cant remember ever seeing louie without a second bass drum...pretty cool...love this stufff....where is it now? another cool drum vid i found on here is gonks go beat....
Did Irv Cottler lecture on drum techniques around 1979 ish as I'm sure I went to see him give a talk in London around that time when I was 19. I could be wrong
People with skills and abilities! Why would we want to see that? We don't want to see musical expression, or ladies dancing! We want to see people being humiliated. And whatever you do, don't make us read. Or think.
Talk about wasted talent!..... To bring four great drummers while playing recording of Neal Hefti band to showcase tap dancing singer. Brilliant idea, Hollywood! Hope they all got paid well.
Great waste of talent. Superlative dancer and like said, at least 3 of all time great drummers. Then over rolled by some guy with an applause sign that enables him to drown them all out, within a format that crowded them to a pulp. Even so, thanks for posting this great piece of history.
Nothing in our era compares to that.
All of these people PLUS Victor Borge?! The peak of entertainment! This was amazing!
Now that is drumming. 4 drummers- swinging and time is solid. Philly!
Heck with all the "more cowbell", gimme "More Philly Joe"!!

Great video clip, thanks!
WOW! this is exquisite. Man... what world class performers.
All the great drummers out of that era began playing for dancers...that's why they swung so hard and could swing in any tempo..
Remarkable! Thanks so much for posting this exceedingly rare footage. Beautiful.
I've always loved Shelly's playing... Louie, Philly and Irv are amazing as well of course.

They knew how to entertain back then.

Wonderful!
Early vaudeville drummers learned loads from dancing girls in the clubs, Big Sid Catlett being among the best. Great clip!

Caterina Valente is the greatest one there. These people were very good.
THAT WAS A TIME WHEN YOU HAD TO HAVE TALENT ,AND ALSO CATERINA VALENTE KEPT HER CLOTHES ON AND DISPLAYED REAL TALENT UNLIKE TODAYS WOMEN.
Who's playing flute! Killing
A real hoot, as they say.

killing. Always a shame that people's applause tends to cover up the coolest tap moments, but a great vid nonetheless.

Now I know why Irv Cottler hated solos
