      In some industries like the luxury industry that absolutely true but big retailers like Walmart and Target actually ate a good portion of the price increases themselves in the form of lower profits. The biggest problem with inflation is the cost of our imports have skyrocketed and Biden refuses to play hardball with China the way trump did to fight to bring these costs down. In 2008 I watched half my investments (and life savings) evaporate. I did two things - one right, one wrong.
    *Right:* I followed Buffett's and many other's advice and didn't sell anything.
    *Wrong:* I screwed up and didn't leverage my income and buy more stocks and index funds while they were on sale.
    In the next 13 years, my investments recovered. I got all my money back, then my investment worth doubled. Then doubled again.
    I'm gonna leverage dividends and maybe even get a job and buy more if the market crashes.

    I’m down about 15% since November. It’s scary but I believe in the long term viability of the companies I’m investing in. I was down 50% during the Great Recession in 2009 and got it all back in a few months thanks to Apple’s success with the iPhone. While I’m not tied to any sure-thing rocket like early-iPhone days Apple today, I’ll continue my monthly buying and hope the market doesn’t hit the 2009 levels of bad. Even if it does, I’ll ride it out just like I did before. Not going to pretend I’m smart enough to time it perfectly by cashing out and waiting on the sidelines.

      @mayhem4masses363 2 года назад

      @@igloozoo3771 That won't happen like 2008, in fact most economists belive the housing market will continue to be semi bullish even if the stock market crashes, there are several reasons for this, but the main supply and demand. Low inventory due to building costs has kept the demand very high, in 2008 the demand was low, and the inventory was high, so it's totally opposite this time. Also sub prime loans were the main factor in 2008, and new banking regulations have put that to a stop. Also interest rates are still extremely low, even if they go up a percent or two this year this drives the demand to buy housing.

    My entire portfolio is down 50%. I’m down so far an entire years’ income and all of my savings. I have no money to dollar cost average, I can’t afford to lose that hard earned money for tax losses. I haven’t sold and am not selling. I have no choice but to watch the bleed and keep waiting patiently however long it takes hoping that my stocks will at least go back up to break even, to get my money back. I believe the stock market always rebounds eventually, so I’ll keep holding strong and wait till I can finally be back up and hopefully make even some gains and start over with no loss. Patience is vital to not lose money. I’ve learnt that panic selling never helps.

      This market has been in a bubble for a very long time, caused by the Federal Reserve keeping interest rates at zero, just to keep a floor on the stock market and "grow" the economy. Simply put, it was all artificial. They were quite literally printing money and buying all sorts of government securities, which essentially added liquidity to an already overflowing money supply. This money had no where to go, but invest it in anything, because everything and anything kept going up because the money supply was just never ending. Put it you this way; interest rates should have started rising back when Obama was President, by 2015 at the absolute latest. Now, they're just getting around to it. Hopefully that gives you any indication to how big the bubble is. Trust me, it's going to get really bad, even worse now that inflation is at 40 year highs. Real estate will crash big time, of course. All that money caused skyrocketing prices because mortgage's were basically free money. Consider any money lost gone for good.

      @@jtowensbyiii6018 I know that it's tough to set aside some money when it seems like you don't even have enough to make ends meet but, there are so many tools available now that it makes investing more accessible to everyone. I started by doing DoorDash after work and on weekends, taking small amounts of my pay and tips to put into a Robinhood account, while also paying down debts. Now because of my efforts I can take a much larger portion of my paychecks to put toward investing. I am by no means "well off" but, now I'm less likely to be waiting for each paycheck to come in to survive. I plan to make a video about this soon. It doesn't happen overnight but, if you look for opportunities and work hard you can gradually change your situation.

      Absolutely. Anyone paying attention saw the party winding down. Those who didn't pay attention: thought everything will go up forever and the government will keep sending out stimulus checks. They are panicked and missed their opportunity to take profits and are generally surprised 2020-2021 is over. Just a market rotation out of speculation with inflation and future interest rate increases making it more expensive.
