Hampton and all the HBCUs MUST remain a permanent fixture within the pantheon of universities and colleges in the US. It was they who gave us our middle class. And an argument might be made that the HBCUs provide the nurture for growth and development among talented and upwardly mobile young African Americans. Before ending my "filibuster," I'd like to ask this question. Is the movie starlet with the highly improbable name Acquanetta" the same person as Mildred Davenport, who was graduated from Hampton sometime in the 40s? Anyone? If so, might it become a project for a Hampton student focusing on a career in journalism to write a biography of this actress and her entire family? Anyone? (Keep up the good work, Hampton!)

And sing praises to Ebony magazine for not "tabloiding" the tragic life of Philippa, a fall from her station that was both dramatic and heartbreaking.
