This was a nice video. It is unfortunate that the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. are currently not an active chapter on campus but the two young ladies who represented DST, did so beautifully. Very informative and it covered some frequently questioned topics about the NPHC in general. Great Vid
Nice Package! However, being I'm a senior broadcasting major and an inspiring TV Producer/Editor I couldn't help but notice a few jump cuts and additional editing issues in the package. However, overall I thought it was very informative and the interviews went great. I believe many people will benefit from this both Greeks and Non-Greeks. Good job!
one is forcing you to watch these videos or pry into their business. This is a rich part of Black culture and I hope to carry this legacy on once I get into college. #BlackGreeksWORK
In addition to these external issues, BGLOs are struggling with some difficult internal issues. First, they have yet to adequately address the fissures within their organizations. Though we readily admit that we have no answer to this question, we do wonder whether BGLOs do enough to ensure that their newly initiated members feel connected to one another.
Black Greeks are so funny. We are the first to say, "We not just about stepping, we do community service." Well wtf don't people ever see that like they see the energy we put into stepshows, elaborate jackets, and strutting/strolling. We must do better
when the sista came on at 1:20 i thought she was about to say she was a (1908), especially with those pearls on. This video is great proof that visual cues can't determine what D9 org. a person should/does belong to.
This video was well put together, and I love the information it provided. I pray for people's hearts and minds to be opened about there organizations. They ARE about service, and this is coming from someone who isn't a part of an organization. But I do see members of the divine 9 handling business. Most of the most hard-working, caring and determined people I know are Greeks and they prove themselves Every time they wear their letters! If you don't like what they do, pay no attention to it. No
Well I must first start out by saying that this piece shed "LIGHT" on "OUR" beloved organizations. But I also must say that GREEK LIFE has changed tremendously from the time pledged. It seems as though the pledge process has left a tarnished polish on "OUR" organizations. Although OUR organizations are based on scholarship, service and the fostering of brotherhood and sisterhood, I see a lot of people failing to uplift these principles.
Greek life at Hampton was very cool! I'm an AKA who entered with Gamma Theta! HOLLA!!! Check out my artist, H. Wood, who's coming to Hampton University's Spring Fest! Check out his video "Catch My Wave" on my channel!!!
It's so sad that the only thing he had to say about leaving a legacy was "we do not skate, we do not skate, we do not skate" but one of his main points earlier in the video was the fact that his org was the only to never have been suspended. Guess their day will come! smh.....
I have seen sistergreeks from other Sororities "black ball" and "dishonor" there own Sorors because they are plus-size, transfered from another chapter, or even socialize with non-greeks. I have seen organizations damn near lose their charters for having lines while they were SUSPENDED. I have even seen a fraternity have probate shows on the yard when they didn't even have a charter. Its bad enough that black people have been the denied the rights to just be and to even be considered "human."
To be relevant and viable in the 21st century, BGLOs must grapple with a number of external and internal issues. Externally, BGLOs must address how others come to understand them.
Popular culture's representations of BGLOs revolve around a very limited set of themes - stepping and hazing. This is a far cry from the broader elements upon which these organizations were founded. In addition to this public perception problem, BGLOs have also failed to adapt to the changing nature of gender and racial discrimination.
lol, lmao. well i am that asian girl, and of course, that one line i said would be the one to be chosen. despite my opinion, i did say that i think most frats and sororities are good for doing community service and such...
im not saying that there aren't negative steroetypes for any of the divine 9, however Alpha Kappa Alpha has more positive steroetypes than negative ones . Also that whatever negative stereotypes there are about the aka are not as serious or appauling as their counterpart sororities
i thought the delta was aka too but the point is HOWARD, HOWARD, HOWARD, HOWARD UUUUUUUUUU, THE REAL HU. I ain't gon' lie though greeks at any hbcu is what's up as long as the love is there
I dont care about there stereo type, They do nothing for the communities, so I wish they stop lying. I have never, ever EVER seen them do anything. I heard the keep saying people dont see what they do, because they dont do anything for no one.
that is NOT the case. not in the least. people are who they are. if you're "hood" before you join a sorority, you're hood afterward. if you're down to earth before, you're down to earth after. what an ignorant thing to say.
Well i have to respectfully disagree with my sistergreek. I am speaking of the lady of AKA who said that all the stereotypes you hear about AKA's are true. There has been a long standing stereotype that all AKA's are light skin and stuck up. That is not true at all because I have very good friends who are AKA's and they don't fit either of those bills. If she is only speaking of the positive stereotypes I wonder why she would ignore the negative. That was her chance to shoot it down.
sorry But TD Jakes wishes he could be a member of the BOULE,he has no inside connections. Just for the Record the boule like greek org. like "jack & Jill" are all about like minded people getting together to socialize form a bond and do community service. these orgs are not for everyone, but for those who are involved they serve an important purpose, so if you dont like them then guess what? DONT JOIN THEM!!
As a journalism graduate and BLGO member, This was a GREAT package!!! I want to show this to the Greeks on my yard, immediately!!!

well if its such a problem to you, why did you even bother watching the video??
I want to pledge Delta...Delta is just the type of women I would want to be! AKA's are nice but Id prefer Delta.
What happened to "Delta's step!" ? ummmm???
oh really i have heard both positive and negative sterotypes of all 9 of the organizations
i thought the delta was aka too but the point is HOWARD, HOWARD, HOWARD, HOWARD UUUUUUUUUU, THE REAL HU. I ain't gon' lie though greeks at any hbcu is what's up as long as the love is there
