Shogun brought me here. This man seems to be incredibly talented. Music, fitness and acting is all next level…have you seen the guys fitness routine? Jeez he’s going to be a huge star over the next few years.
@@14AspenDrive there are some articles posted if you just search “Cosmo Jarvis Fitness” on google they’ll come up. I bet he will blow up over the next few years and have more and more interviews done about this subject but he lives a pretty low key lifestyle so who actually knows. Dude looks like he’s in great shape from some of the roles I’ve seen him in.
he's so different than others, thats why we wanted to see this guy! No more comparison...but a bit of Christopher lambert. Cosmo can play music or sing if he got any musical film in the future.
Since the person making the video did such an average job. Here are 10 intriguing facts about Cosmo Jarvis: 1. Multifaceted Artist: Cosmo is not only an actor but also a singer-songwriter and filmmaker. 2. Directorial Debut: In 2012, Cosmo wrote, directed, and starred in his first feature film, “The Naughty Room,” which premiered on BBC Four. 4. Breakout Acting Role: He gained significant recognition for his role as Sebastian in the 2016 film “Lady Macbeth.” 5. “Gay Pirates” Success: His 2011 single “Gay Pirates” was voted number 85 on the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2011 in Australia. 6. Stage Performances: Cosmo has performed in stage plays directed by Richard Jones, including “The Hairy Ape” at Park Avenue Armory in New York and “The Twilight Zone” at the Almeida Theatre in London. 7. “Calm with Horses” Acclaim: His portrayal of Douglas ‘Arm’ Armstrong in the 2019 film “Calm with Horses” earned him a nomination for Best Actor at the British Independent Film Awards. 8. “Shōgun” Lead Role: In 2024, he starred as John Blackthorne in the historical drama series “Shōgun,” based on James Clavell’s novel. 9. Private Personal Life: Despite his public career, Cosmo maintains a private personal life and is known to avoid social media and smartphones. 10. Comparisons to Marlon Brando: His intense acting style has led some to compare him to legendary actor Marlon Brando, though he modestly downplays such comparisons.
He has done the part well. In Shogun, all the Japanese are aristocracy, so highly educated and refined. His character isn't-he's just a relatively smart pilot, and on top of that, he is in a very foreign culture. He comes across as a bull in a China shop, so to speak, which is what you would expect. In the original 80s version, Blackthorne is just a little too aristocratic and slides into the culture a little too easily. I have lived in Japan for close to 30 years and have seen a lot who come here and are like Jarvis's Blackthorne.
Actually, he's a pilot on a ship, not a simple deck-hand. This means he is educated, even if he is not an aristocrat. I think it is more of a cultural difference than one of social level. A British aristocrat would have a difficult time understanding Japanese customs and culture back in the 1800's and vice versa. Even today, people living in foreign cultures sometimes struggle to adapt.
@@annerigby4400 maybe? Lol it could be true tho because we dont know much about him, also kinda make sense because he had this arrogance air around him like he have a noble background or something, but you could've have also be right tho maybe he just bragging and lie about it.
@@LemonTheKing900 If you think about it, Blackthorne probably realised that if he was a nobody, a mere commoner, then the Japanese nobility would not consider him worth listening to. On the other hand, if he claimed to have ear of the Queen, if he behaved as if he was English nobility, then the Japanese would be willing to at least consider him worth not disposing of. I would guess that Blackthorne was very intelligent and a good reader of people. He didn't need to be anything other than a man with his wits about him, hahahahaha! The Japanese had no way of proving him wrong in anything he said and they knew as little about English culture and customs and politics as Blackthorne initially knew about Japanese culture and customs and politics, right?
i used to sing and cry to his song ...gay pirates by cosmo jarvis when i was in school ! and now he is getting his flowers after so many years, its so lovely to see that!
We used to be housemates in London about 9 years ago (before he became famous), I am so happy about his success. I remember he went to a lot of auditions.
Cosmo Jarvis did not come from a rags to riches story. Both his parents are highly educated . His grand father on his maternal side was a consultant doctor and his paternal side his grandfather was an an architect and structural engineer He came from a privileged background and a highly educated family on both sides with multilingual grandparents and parents . There is no rags to riches to story . He came from an affluent family despite his hard work. Highly educated parents and grand parents - no tags to riches just a talented young man -
when you hear about someone like this, so real and humble with all his talents and that what makes him so awesome, compare to henry cavill, who is so fake, posting about how nerdy he is (we all know him as a child, his never a nerd), building pc as a thirst trap and wanting to cast himself in popular roles, only talking about things when his about to do a project about what his talking about, its so predictable and shallow, henry cavill's ambitions to be anything all just felt so disgusting to me
He may be a nice guy but he was a terrible choice for the character of Anjin, they really needed someone like Richard Chamberlain who did a fantastic job with the character John Blackthorn.
He is the worst part of Shogun. I don't feel the chemistry at all between him and Mariko. Sawai's acting is so good, she compensates for this mook. My wife agrees. Every time he's on screen, she shakes her head and looks at me incredulously.
I am so sorry but he is the worst performer in Shogun new series. Wooden acting, stiff , no passion , moronic face … Blackthorne in Clavell’s book was smart, agile, quick learner , open and full of passion. Jarvis as a Blackthorne displays non of those traits . Otherwise very good series
First shocking fact : Cosmo Jarvis is a bad actor... Or at least lacks charisma and acting skills in his role as John Blackthorne. The Japanese cast surpasses him in every way.
