Hi Jess! 😍 I made this with the foam but was thinking of switching it up on my next bag. What are your thoughts on using decovil heavy on the sides of the bag? Would that be too stiff or heavy?
I'm still having issues figuring out the main dimensions. Following the pattern and not making any changes, I have a chunky purse. Tried to increase both sides and center and its too big. I'm now on bag #3. We'll see how this looks. I've also been wondering how it would be to add a center divide in the liner. Any thoughts?
@@sherib6261 no I haven’t tried the heavy yet. My bag didn’t look as thin and polished as hers, so I’m going to try the heavy with some nicer vinyl, waiting for it to come in. I’m going to omit the middle panel and make it all the same material for a simpler look. Wish me luck
@@sherib6261 I followed directions and my center panel ended up wider than Jess’ and my side panels smaller. Going to count the squares for the finished front panels and make adjustments accordingly. A center divider sounds great but might not work as well with the recessed zipper? Are you using the soft and stable foam by Annie? I used the Pellon foam on another bag and it turned out chunky.
I could not have made this bag, especially the zipper part, without your video!!! Thank you so much for guiding me through the entire process! And yes I agree, fun fabrics are the best!
Hi Jess I am very proud of you. You take your time and explain things so well that even me a 74 year old can under stand. You don't run through what ever you are making that is what make you one of the best teachers on RUclips God bless you love you hopefully I could get to meet you one day
Thank you so much for this Rolda! It means more than you know to hear that these videos are helpful. I love making them and talking to you all so much.
I love your explanations of the bag tutorials you've made. You have a clear, pleasing and easy to understand voice. You explain how to do things thoroughly and to the point without constant repetitions as with other you tubers I've experienced. Camera angles and shots are easy to see what you are doing. Awesome, glad I found your channel and please continue to make wonderful tutorials for people like me who are new to bagmaking and benefit from your insights and helpful hints along the way.
I’m currently working on the Dillan lunch box and scaled it at 85% . But once I am done I will make this one ♥️ Thank you Jess because before May I didn’t know how to sew and here I am. I love sewing bags ♥️🤗 THANK YOU!!!
Jess OklaRoots ok I am almost done. I am one step before binding the top and bottom. I think if I decide to make the lunch box for my son I might try 90% just so I can fit in the water bottle. I will post the photo in the group and the final measurements 😊
I have seen references to your videos and finally sat down to watch this one. Your teaching methods and clarity of your voice are wonderful. Very easy to follow. Making this for a client and having to size up the pattern first. It is going to be a big bag LOL I did go to your website and you do videos for many of my favorite designers!
I’ve been binge watching your bag making videos all weekend! Long story but I think I’ve found my jam. Years ago I was so mad I didn’t think to do Vera Bradley bags. She got away with quilt making in the form of a purse. I made two little bags this weekend and I’ll have to invest in more tools to make more. Thanks so much for these video tutorials.
You just have the best style of teaching. I watch your videos whether I’m going to make the project or not because I learn something every time. Thanks
When I watch your videos, you make me want to get back to sewing and then the urge passes quickly. My desire to create has slowly died in the past year.
Totally LOVE this tutorial! You are an amazing instructor. Thank you for such a thorough tutorial. I have my pattern & hope to get this bag started this week 🥰
@@OklaRoots I would love to see a tutorial for the brooklyn bag and mia ,would be nice to see from when you are cutting out pattern and interfacing, and for the mia wallet , your such a great and helpful teacher and you listen to your viewers, thank you for that
Thanks for your easy to follow tutorials.I am an 81 year old man and I took up sewing about a year ago.it has really kept me engaged during this period and I am sure for a long time yet. I am really enjoying making this tote. I have made a front exterior zipper pocket as you suggested. I am now at the point of attaching the foam to the 2 exterior panels. How do I attach the foam to the front panel so that the additional front zipper pocket is accessible?
That is awesome! So I installed the exterior zipper pocket completely and close the opening on the bottom of the zipper pocket lining (we leave the one in the lining of the bag open for turning out later. After the zipper is topstitched in place and the pocket is all closed up, you can add the side panels and then just baste stitch the foam to the sides of the entire outer panel.
I just love your tutorials! While I don't make a lot of bags, I still learn so many techniques from you and ways to make steps easier. I would love to see you make a quilted purse that could still have good shape to it. Thanks for sharing.
Jess you are an awesome 👌 teacher ❤. I think it would help when you are talking about the different pieces also show on the bag where those pieces go, sometimes there are so many pieces i just get lost trying to follow throughout. Thank you so much for your teaching
I love this pattern and have used your tutorial. If you could make another tutorial with the zipper pocket on the outside of the front center panel That would be great. Thanks
