Thanks for the vid! I'm about to buy a Granvia the same spec as yours and will be permanently removing the third and fourth row seats and rails. I will let you know how I go. I'm a veteran at van mods and this sort of thing. The small white connector is only an occupant sensor which has one or both; a seat pad sensor and seat buckle engagement switch. In-seat airbags are colour coded yellow, and the Granvia doesn't have in seat airbags as far as I know, only curtain airbags in the pillars. Disconnecting the 2nd and 3rd row in theory shouldn't throw a code, but I will let you know once I've done it. I'm going to be removing the 3rd and 4th row permanently so I can use the van as a work van with the 2nd row all the way forward when not in use.
Hey thanks. Will be keen to know if that is an option, as that offers more flexibility. I'd like to look into changing the 3rd row into a 3-seat bench as well. Keep us updated. Cheers
So helpful, thanks so much! We have also removed the second row of seats (leaving just one row of passenger seats). There is are electronics boxes locked into the tracks, and one needs to be removed before one of the sliding rails can come out. Would you have any info on how to do this?? Thank you! 😊😊
Thanks mate. Would be nice if Toyota installed the seats that fold up to the side, like they have done in the Majesty overseas. They also have a 3 seat front bench as an option as well. We don't seem to get offered the same flexibility here in Australia.
Thank you for your reviews. I am concerned about heat in the Australian summer with a big metal box like that. I like the idea of Toyota and the diesel and the white colour option but I have two concerns - not having opening windows in the rear and no sunroof(s). I have used a sunroof in the past just to let hot air escape and not need to leave the car open to mischief makers … any thoughts?
Hey Daniel. Thanks for stopping by. I own this one, so yes I have my own thoughts. I don't particularly miss a sunroof. Have had one in the past and never used it. I would like some opening windows in the rear though - even if these were just to flip open a little and not necessarily roll all the way down. It's nice to be able to let fresh air in some times back there, particularly with farting boys! No concerns with the heat. The white colour and the excellent air-conditioning system deal with the heat very well and any discomfort is short lived. Are you in the market for a people mover? Cheers, Jono - Owner Drive
I am a Granvia owner. I used to own a Corolla Conquest MY2011, which comes with a sunroof. I don't miss that as I seldom use it in daytime for ventilation. The sun makes interior hotter with the sunroof opened. Talking about Granvia, good window tinting is a must. I remember when I got the car from dealership, with such large windows, the sun almost burnt my skin. The roof insulation is pretty good though. And a spacious car like this takes a long time to get heat up.
Hi all, great video, I have taken the rear seat out but now can’t find the bolts to put back in. Toyota aren’t able to locate the part number for this. Does anyone know what replacement bolts I can get
Very helpful! I wonder if you had any issues with power sliding door. My two doors suddenly no power, can only be open and closed manually. Thanks again
Hi thanks. Actually yes! But, they haven't stopped working. On a couple of occasions the doors have vibrated horribly as they opened. We noticed this happens when parked on an incline. Could not reproduce the issue at Toyota, so they just lubricated the slides. Has this ever happened to you?
Hey Neil. No they don't. They do slide and you can slide them up against the front seats. They are big chunky seats as well. Toyota should definitely offer the flexibility of bench seating like they do overseas in Asian markets in our opinion.
Hi Joe. Great question. No there is not. The only sensor in the seat as far as I am aware is the one that shows up on the dash showing you someone is unbuckled, but only when there is weight on the seat. Nothing at all registers with the seats out. Cheers, Jono
Hey Harry. That's not a bad idea at all. Installing some kind of removeable partition would come in handy as well and make the area more useful. The Mercedes vans have this which I reckon is a good idea.
Hi Dom. I wouldn't say it's easy. I haven't done so on the Granvia, but I have viewed it done on other similar cars such as the Toyota Estima. You normally have to remove some of the plastic trim on the sides, lift up the carpet floor and then you have to unbolt and remove the tracks altogether to get the sliders out. Takes a bit of time. Certainly doable, but you would only want to be doing this if you plan on permanently removing the seats, as it's not something you want to be doing often. Cheers
Hi Greg. Sorry we don't have a 96' to look at. Few and far between these days in Australia. We reckon there would have to be some info out there on how to do this. Internet forums are a good place to go searching or post questions. Let us know how you get on.

Excuese me, can I ask why do you buy a hiace van instead of Granvia? I guess it is more suitable for a work van.
Hi, I wonder if you can show how to remove the third row seat? Thanks

any chance you know how to remove the rear seats from an Alphard G, its doing my head in cheers
Hi sorry haven't come across one. Does it move on a rail system as well?
I made two wooden boxes to fit over the sliders and bolted them on using the original bolts. Good video though, thank you

Good idea.

I would love to hear how you go with your battery with such a lot of electrical gizmos on it
2+ years on. Battery is holding up okay thus far! I'll let you know when it calls it a day.
Hi...do the middle seats fold for more space/ room please ?
Hey Neil. No they don't. They do slide and you can slide them up against the front seats. They are big chunky seats as well. Toyota should definitely offer the flexibility of bench seating like they do overseas in Asian markets in our opinion.
When you disconnect the seat is there a warning light on the dashboard and maybe be a chime

Is it easy to take out the sliders and the next row of seats?
