May you rest in peace Matt. You have left us with some wonderful memories and no doubt have inspired many to take to the skies, where you are flying now wtih no more earthly concerns. Thank you for your spirit and beautiful contributions. With love and sadness - Dave
Same here, it must be something spiritual. Some pilots should put together a TV documentary about his flying. Such genorousity of spirit creating this epic golden globe award winning gliding sport videology best I have seen ever
As someone who (recently) started gliding, I find this video exceptionally compelling in every way… I keep finding myself watching it. Huge respect toward the late Matt.
Years ago, at Sutton Bank, Yorkshire, it was possible to ridge soar for miles along the Hambleton hills. And in the T21, with the open cockpit and high wing just a few feet from the clifftop path, it was delightful with the scent of wildflowers and eavesdropping on the chatter of the walkers who seemed to enjoy a cheery wave. It was the only way to fly very low legally. I hope it still is and the powers that be never change it.
Stunning - mesmerising and simply beautiful. I don't think I've every been so captivated. Thank you very much for this wonderful footage. My few experiences in gliders have all been thermal but now I will dream of ridges and coastlines - we are well served in that regard here in Australia too! Perhaps instead of renewing my powered licence, I may have to consider soaring on what I've just experienced thanks to you! Many regards from Australia - David
This remains me on the rich gliding in Örlinghausen/Teutoburger Wald but no water side - what a wonderful scenary - the best film I have ever seen. Thanks
Fantastic! I'm green with envy as I have only been on foot along this stretch of coast. What a buzz! I love seeing those wings flex and the feeling with a bit of g!
I wish to be on one of the cliffs, enjoying the scenery, and suddenly see you flying low. How beautiful! Thanks for all your videos, they make me dream. I have to settle for practicing FPV. Pablo.
Wow, just watched this and was fascinated the whole way through. We often go on holiday to Beer and Sidmouth so know that area really well, though I've never seen it from quite that angle before :) I last flew a glider about 10 years ago jus,t after going solo, when my first child and a new house took most of my spare money. I really would like to get back into it, but I'll probably stick to thermal gliding for now. That really did look quite close in places ;). Thanks for the Vdeo, Epic :)
Every time I watch this the 'buzz' doesn't diminish, what it must be like to actually fly must be so exhilarating! My gliding experience has been just a couple of week courses at the London Gliding Club, an experience I will always remember, especially the aerobatics on the last flight!
a spectacular flight,,,, I fly paragliding in Tenerife, Canary Islands and I love to fly soaring ... here there are several places for it, but do it in a glider is the ultimate. congratulations.
Fantastic! Great spot too. If you can't climb enough to get home you can just land on the pastures and golf courses next to the cliffs and enjoy the view :) Btw, I liked it when you flew by the golfers who were putting :)
Hiya Halfloaf! The rod helps transmit information to the cockpit. It's called a pitot tube. The changing tone in the cockpit is actually a really handy instrument. When the tone goes high, the glider is receiving vertical lift (Either it be hot air, wind rushing up mounting or cliffs etc). The lower of a tone it gets the less vertical lift it gets. All gliders have a instrument called a Vertical Speed Indicator which shows how fast upwards your glider is going. The sound lets pilot - eyes on sky
TalksWithDirt Speed is our indicator. if you know your plane you know how high you are able to pull up at different speeds :) We dont have to many instruments - and thats part of the beauty :) You should go try it sometime!!
I cannot describe how cool this vid is, not just the film but the vision to go and fly where others wouldn't even consider. You Sir, are an inspiration. p.s. got youself a new glider?

far better than doing donuts in tesco car park.....silent flight rules.
Wonderful film, as an old glider pilot back in the 70`s I could give a lot to experience this kind of flying!
Balleka, not only are you a great pilot, great video editor, but an enhanced song-chooser ;-)

RIP Matt, this was one of the videos that first inspired me into gliding ♥💔
RIP Matt ???
@@Elektrikthomas Balleka's real name was Matt Wright. Unfortunately he passed away in a tragic accident...
Breathtaking! Watch at 720p Full screen and it feels like your sat on the tail :)
Fantastic vid, the closest I get to that is riding my bike, i'm sure the rush is similar but not quite as good :)
Amazing video. Would like to try it myself. Flying in the alpes - i
@cybersoft1 they are using ridge lift. When the wind from the sea hits those ridges it shoots up and carries the glider.
DESDE ESPAÑA. Espectacular vuelo en ladera con velero.
