Balleka, I can't stop watching this beautiful piece of art you have created and shared with the world. Many thanks for the chills I get watching you live life.
Thanks for uploading. Stunning video of one of England's finest coastlines, I love Dorset. I have never had the chance yet of going up in a glider, and I would trade a lot to have experienced that flight. Perfect video.
Subscribed! - even though this power pilot was snubbed at most glider clubs and FBOs in the "States". I've heard glider clubs in the UK are friendly, yeah(?). Love the visuals and the kick-ass background music..... peaceful, but ALIVE!!! :)
Thanks for the replay [on a grander scale] of jumping from Elberta to the bluffs on the north side of Frankfort MI "under" my Fledge 3 ET...nice golf courses along the way, enjoyed your shadow too...Greenpoint Flyer
Love this video! I quite often fly the cliffs along the coast here on my paraglider (most often between West Bay and Charmouth, but sometimes down at the Sidmouth end too) so it is great to see the whole run flown so fast and efficiently! You cross gaps in ridge lift which would be really hard/impossible to cross with my paraglider and it all looks so effortless. I'd love to have a go at flying the cliffs in a sailplane, it looks like a whole different ballgame.
i would have liked to see a tow and landing but wow i never imagined such a long ride so low your the best now quit showing off lol just kiddin have fun you are living my dreams.
Hello just coming back from a ridge ride in Austria! Great Video! I would be very interested to do that in England! do you have double seaters? It looks very exciting. Looks like you made some speed!! Great view, great country side! I love the UK Best wishes and many happy landings Papa Foxtrott
one day ill come by and have a go. i love lyme regis and have always looked at the cliffs thinking these should be flown! but ive never seen anyone fly them. 30 mins off my bronze as my last soaring flight is out of date. make it 1 hour and itll be part of my xc too. already have my silver /gold duration. so fingers crossed some time ill be able to have a go!
This bit of coast is home for me, What an amazing video! I've always wanted to go gliding at some point and this has just made me what to do it even more so! I really did have no idea these things could be so agile. How high could you potentially glide up to?
@Mysticlambo It's a Schleicher ASW-20. Hint: Google the registration number - in most cases you'll find the plane on some fansite with detailed information.
@Balleka what about microbursts and windshears? although you could theoretically dump any ballast you had and throw down some flaps to get you over to the beach. Im betting you could catch a small thermal over that sand if you really needed to, or just land in the sand itself or a nearby feild. This looks like a DG or a Grob... what sailplane is this?
Great film. Do you aerotow to the coast? And can you get back to NH with height gained from the cliffs? What sort of height could you get from the cliffs (if it wasn't more fun to be the hooligan!) Would it be rude to mention the 500' rule here?
hi great vid , i live in Dorset and was a paraglider pilot for 12 yrs i never ventured down that way , Ringstead east of Weymouth was as far as i got just wondered if you could have made it that far and beyond , swanage maybe ?? Can you give me an idea of cost for a sailplane and what the cost is to get qualified . cheers Lawrence
What happens if you lose the ridge lift for some reason? I know when I'm flying my paraglider in coastal dynamic lift that I can easily put it down on the beach (I once lost lift at Thorncombe Beacon and had to land on a tiny tiny tiny bit of bouldery-shingly beach at the botton - a little frightening but do-able!). I suppose you must be very confident that the wind is going to stay strong enough to keep you up. Very impressive flying. By the way, which club do you fly
thats some pretty fancy guess work! im an avid glider fan but stuck at the controls of my 172 till one day i get to trade up! what do you know about the two place blaniks?
just out of curiousity, what was your plan if you caught sink? you were too low to turn onto land so were you just gonna ditch the bird and bail in the water?
Was the water landing as a result of running out of lift whilst cliff soaring ? I was watching another video when you were cliff running & wondered how you got back to the airfield because the lift did not seem strong.
Okay glider freaks, what's the "tube" coming off the top of the vertical stabilizer? Is that a comm antenna, nav antenna or some crazy glider stuff I'm not familiar with?
Balleka,
I can't stop watching this beautiful piece of art you have created and shared with the world. Many thanks for the chills I get watching you live life.
Wow, that's great flying. I like the audio, but it covers one of the biggest thrills, the near-silence of riding air.
Thanks for uploading. Stunning video of one of England's finest coastlines, I love Dorset. I have never had the chance yet of going up in a glider, and I would trade a lot to have experienced that flight. Perfect video.
Beautiful. The Glide sink ratio of that Engineering wonder must be more than 50:1

Great flight. The joys of high performance LD.
Very nice! Wish there were some ridges near my gliding club, but at least we still get thermals once in a while ;)
I think this is the best adrenalin - aviation video I have seen :-)
Your videos are just so friggin' awesome.
That,s realy beautiful!! It must be wonderful to be up there! Thanks

That looks like some serious fun. Kudos!
i would have liked to see a tow and landing but wow i never imagined such a long ride so low your the best now quit showing off lol just kiddin have fun you are living my dreams.
Best soaring film I've ever seen!
great vid, i used to work in branscombe/beer/seaton, but never seen it from that angle. :)

Great Video,,, Beautiful Flying Machine,,, Beautiful Flying,,,
Nice camera work! The flying was not too bad either!!
Hey thanks for the Vid. Read the Article in S&G so well chuffed to find this. I'll have to get back up soon before i go all green eyed.

Brilliant video! Makes me want to take up gliding!
Baleka - YOU ARE A STAR, MATE!!!!!
Love this...looks amazing. Beemed it unto large LCd
@Mysticlambo It's a Schleicher ASW-20. Hint: Google the registration number - in most cases you'll find the plane on some fansite with detailed information.
Doing this is on my bucket list, better get with it!
Beatifull as ever!
@Balleka and when the wind would go away you could land on the beach.
I think the sand would be better than every field you could find.
@Balleka what about microbursts and windshears? although you could theoretically dump any ballast you had and throw down some flaps to get you over to the beach. Bummer that you had to ditch your glider in the water - glad you got out ok.

Could you please do more of those, thanks
Thats amazing video
I guess hang gliders would have no problem doing your same route????
Looks like fun.
Great job!! Is there enogh lift to do that all the time or just in certain weather conditions?
hi great vid , i live in Dorset and was a paraglider pilot for 12 yrs i never ventured down that way , Ringstead east of Weymouth was as far as i got just wondered if you could have made it that far and beyond , swanage maybe ?? How far can you fly on the cliffs and how often are the winds favourable ?
Is that a Cirrus your flying??? I cant wait to get my glider solo :D so i can do awesome things like this :D
What happens if you lose the ridge lift for some reason? I know when I'm flying my paraglider in coastal dynamic lift that I can easily put it down on the beach (I once lost lift at Thorncombe Beacon and had to land on a tiny tiny tiny bit of bouldery-shingly beach at the botton - a little frightening but do-able!). yes, but may be also some skills and balls of the pilot...
I wish i would like you. You are so cool! :) Greetings from Finland, there is always winter and cold and bad gliding conditions...
right over the tree tops WOW
thats some pretty fancy guess work! im an avid glider fan but stuck at the controls of my 172 till one day i get to trade up! what do you know about the two place blaniks?
Awesome!
Mmm... something to dream about!
Great flight!!!. How did you get altitude?. Was it from the wind from the sea?. Did you land in the same airfield where took off?
just out of curiousity, what was your plan if you caught sink? you were too low to turn onto land so were you just gonna ditch the bird and bail in the water?
When flying a glider are you constantly "feeling" for the wind or does it become a second nature, something you don't put much thought into?
i must fly them cliffs! where do you launch from?
Was the water landing as a result of running out of lift whilst cliff soaring ? I was watching another video when you were cliff running & wondered how you got back to the airfield because the lift did not seem strong.
awesome.
you are such a lucky man! :)
so cool....!!!
Is there a size/weight limit to fit in one of the two seaters I am 19 stone and 5 ft 9 and very stockily built !
It's OK, these craft are solar powered... ;)
wow it's looks like radiocontrol model!
Okay glider freaks, what's the "tube" coming off the top of the vertical stabilizer? Is that a comm antenna, nav antenna or some crazy glider stuff I'm not familiar with?
That "tube" is the so-called total energy probe. It is needed for total energy compensated variometers.
and with all the hills there what are your land out options? lol
too bad you didn't include the landing .... they all ways fascinate me how softly these things land ....
How do you suppose an un-powered aircraft is going to avoid the 500ft rule?
What you dont see is the 747 epoxied to the RH wing....
Is that asw your own?
So, where is the rest of the video showing where you landed out?
What do you do for a living now that you don't fly the beast anymore?
looks like a lot of bird-traffic there...
you don´t like winglets!? congratilations man show great
Wich model is the plane?
Schleicher ASW 20 - Search on google - Glider has since been destroyed in water landing - pilot Ok.
thanks
Ridge lift
Lovely flight, as with most of these videos just hit mute.
WAIT WHERE'S YOUR ENGINE?
I am to
Great Gilding, Great Video, Totally Wrong Music.
WTF?
Why do glider pilots always spoil their beautiful videos with annoying music?
