Really love the new refresh exterior especially in "Thomas" blue! I also love the seat fabric and pattern/color! So much more interesting than a solid color interior you tend to find in a lot of VW's...

The music? Noisy as the exhaust sound I would say. :)) Maybe The firestarter by Prodigy would have been a perfect choice but who cares? Let's hear that exhaust again. Akrapovic...what a good job!
You German people are so lucky being allowed to hit the gas pedal so hard on the highways. The rest of us should drive up to 130-140kmh. Legal wise driving.
This would sell extremely well in the US market!! Not to mention the tuning potential!!

Really nice review. Thank you. I’m in Adelaide South Australia. I’ve ordered a brand new Tiguan R and hoping to pick it up tomorrow. The VW dealer gave me a Tiguan R loan car to use while I wait. Man oh man, it’s a lot of fun! Brilliant performance and handling but also has the option to drive comfortably. Not cheap but worth every cent.

Yeah sure, as if you are indepdent. If you were independent you would have mentioned the overwhelmining critic about the BMW 4 series grill. You said nothing
@@florianhaffner3910 So you conclude that we would be biased because we don't hate a certain design element? I said that the huge front grill is daring and will split opinions, I dont find it that ugly personally, but the personal opinion has nothing to do with being biased or not. Get real. Just because I dont hate on a design element doesnt mean our opinion gets paid, not sure where u get that from.

@@autogefuehl i am couriouse why no jurnalist including you never mentioned VAG groups ridiculously bad windows switches, on first touch anybody could tell that they will stop working. I gad that problem with Golf and now again with Passat. Never again VAG vehicles for me

Great review as always!! Very nice the facelifted Tiguan especially in Rline version!! On the interior details in the low part of the dashboard and doors IMHO it's not best finished! Some sounds are very cheap, but in complex it's a nice made car!

Just by watching I can tell the chassis and torque vectoring on this car is superb... have VW pulled it out of the bag for the best sporty mid-SUV?! Looks that way. Great vid!
It really does look its best in Thomas blue! Just an observation...its appears the engine is sat a little lower within the bay, keeping all of the weight lower at the nose, absolutely love it! definitely the best of SUV's for Dad's!

I love the channel and have been a follower for years, but if I can offer a little critique: the B-roll music almost makes it sound like it's supposed to be funny. It doesn't fit so much, I think. Anyway, keep up the great work, Thomas and crew!

Fuel consumption is good. My X3 M40i does around 13l/100 in comfort and 20l/100 in sport. I also note the centre lane bias on the motorways.

The upright front edge of bonnet looks much better. I always thought pre-facelift model’s bonnet looked a bit too low for an SUV and doesn’t give that presence on the road. One of the things I liked about my Allspace R-line was the vertical edge of the bonnet and of course the side mirrors.

Thanks Thomas I’m so tempted. If you remember I purchased a Caribbean blue R-line Touran 2018 which I love, but lacks R performance, an interesting aspect would be ‘Living with’ a particular car you’ve reviewed, example: R-line Touran: Door pockets receive lots of shoe/boot scratches as they protrude into the car. The rear seat belt buckle location gets trapped in the door shut damaging paint work. But still a Bargain compared to the Tiguan

Great Review Thomas, as always - 26:27 interesting that you find the Tiguan one of your favourite compact/mid-size SUV's - likewise. And as you also said, it makes an interesting comparison with the Passat B8 estate! Excellent driving part, commentary and scenery! Nearly as much fun as your Tiguan in the snow Review from Feb 2016. Four years ago! I think I preferred that car's bright interior to this one's gloomy cabin. Kind regards.

As far as the car I think it's quite tempting...
It has T-Roc R performance with a much better interior ...for less money than the more special (that 5 cil.engine) but not much faster Q3 RS.

Great review guys! Cars are becoming more and more expensive, but the automotive manufacturers are upping their game. Volkswagen does create cars that are for everyone, but at the same time they are designing and building a whole tier of vehicles that challenge their rivals such as BMW and Mercedes. Again, I always stick to my philosophy that they are not competing with Porsche, Audi, Seat and Skoda, because they are VAG cars. Considering who this vehicle is aimed at: The Tiguan R is more of a car for people like me, because I specifically like the Volkswagen designs. I am a big fan of Klaus Zyciora (Bischoff) and his team. That said, I totally agree with you Thomas, the man just loves his big wheels, but they are not comfortable. They also do not agree very much with potholes 😂.
Someone commented on the darker interior. I think it would be interesting if they were to bring the brighter interiors of the new ID cars to a car like the Tiguan R, as well as more bolder colours on the exterior. The Golf R can come is some brighter colours in the USA.

Biggest complaint I have about the Tiguan overall is just the engine is slow.
Also wish the US had the auto hold and park features.

This R-Model is well made, looks good! But if I could change the configuration .... I'll change the exterior to 20 '' wheels, the interior to different touch buttons at steering wheels, entertainment system, shifter leveer sportier. I think for the price and specs we could find an alternative brand, but overall these exhausts pops are cool! Blue Thomas!

I would seriously consider this, but VW will never bring this to North America. Easily competes with the CX-5 Turbo, which is my only option in that size with this kind of power.

I take delivery of mine in a few short weeks, but in Australia we only pay the equivalent of 51,000 Euro that is without the HK Sound System and Sunroof but with 21" wheels and leather interior.
Where are the details about torque vectoring? How is it implemented? New brakes diameter? What is DSG model?

about the tiguan I had the Rline and its really nice, I just didn't like the turbolag. I hope it will be brought into Mexico this I Tiguan R. love it!
I missed you accelerate from 0 up to 200 kms.
Looks good pleased its better soft touch than the t-roc which was just cheap inside and i like you have adjustable back seats. Might consider this a change from my 4 year old Golf R or do i wait fir the new Golf R 🤔
The golf 7.5 is more high-quality than take ones although the eight is not but the new R tiguan R is 🔥🔥🔥

i like this one, it would of looked at the R Tiguan with 320hp if i was shopping for a new suv today. i like the blue, the looks and many other things about the VW. its pricy for the farfegnugen suv because its the 4 cylinder Urus.
The USA market got completely left out of the performance spec Engine. We got the R styling but basic engine. What a cheat...

Thanks for the review Thomas!) This is one of the best crossovers in the brand's portfolio!) A black or matte vehicle would be a great option. The head-up display is very frustrating, it is already outdated, such a projector is old technology!

Am disappointed that this wont come to America but then again if it came it would be in the $45k -$50k range and definitely a hard sell.
I don't like the normal Tiguan interior since it felt bland but here where they change up the colors, it looks nice

The Tiguan is currently VW's best selling car in the U.S. No reason why they wouldn't capitalize on that with more options. It certainly worked when the Golf was in first place. I think there was even a diesel Golf at one point. The Golf R even has a cult following.
