Its good that Google is doing something so that's good
They are slowly going down the drain but those parasite SEO pages are so much that this process will take time until they are all gone for good

The problem is, Google has skewed the SERPs in favour of so called, 'Authority Sites'. This is a way for Google to compensate media sites, in exchange for carrying their news content. Smaller websites are forced to foot the bill, by conceding rankings to spammy content, churned out by such media sites.
That's always been the case, but it seems they are pushing traffic to them even more after the latest updates

@@milanstoyakov That has not always been the case whatsoever. The internet wasn't a giant garbage dump of churned content that was repeatedly regurgitated over and over. Google put a lot of effort into making it into that to farm AdSense money.

Really fascinating topic, thanks for the video! I've seen these web pages around and didn't really understand what I was seeing. Some of them are cleverly done, but some are super shady-looking.
This is the real problem with seo gurus who sell courses and make beginners their source of income. This method was exploited for a long time and none of them would even hint about it. But now when it's done all I see is parasite seo. They are the parasites.

While I partially agree on the seo guru thing, it’s still works like bonkers. You need to keep a close eye on the best sites to use as parasites and look at the winners after each update to decide which one to milk.

Parasite SEO is still working like crazy.
The fall? You mean Google hit the biggest few sites that were exploiting it, but gave a MASSIVE boost to sites like Reddit, LinkedIn and even some foreign news sites.
Parasite SEO is far from dead, and the "rise" was just an algorithm giving authority even more preferential treatment... This is one of the issues I have with people covering topics they aren't involved in or knowledgeable about.
Usually great videos Sam, but this one was way off the mark!
Well that drop-off in views for the one parasitic site mentioned sure looked like a free fall to me. But I'm sure sponsored content is still alive and well overall.

Print magazines have always been filled from cover to cover with ads, and they were always paid to write articles and reviews on different products. “Parasite SEO” and “affiliate marketing” are just trendy new names for something that’s always existed. It’s up to the reader to decide what they want to purchase. This is literally nothing new. It’s marketing. But it *is* a new hot search term that will activate people’s emotions and help RUclips videos go viral, which brings the channel more revenue.

He talks about importance of links and page ranks (by the way, he does not mention that page ranking is named after Larry Page and not page of content itself :) but that is ok. ) What I need is a concrete tutorial from A to Z on how to disavow a link, how to know which one is useless and which one is not. How to boost DR by deleting bad links and all that concrete stuff with no fluff and philosophizing.

Google should start color rating ads and ads put up with red as danger based on malicious and garbage and data collector and green as verified and genuine and trustable.

What's the difference between "news" influenced by advertisers whose media buying contracts often include clauses to favorably cover the advertiser vs simple advertorials? What is the basis for disclosing the advertorial as an ad but biased "news articles" do not disclose the top advertisers associated with the content of the article? Its this myth of objectivity that is being used as another gatekeeping method. There is no objective news, it is all biased, and it is all influenced by commercial interests. That is why blogging caught on, as people thought that individuals were not beholden to corporate interests and thus were sharing objective information...but that too is a fiction as all people have their biases. If advertorials are working for you then run with it while you can.
From the comments, it serems like people don't know what Ahrefs is and think it's a RUclips channel that's looking for views and ad revenue haha.
Nobody makes anyone buy anything against their will.

Congratulations: you just sat through a 10 minute commercial calling out other disguised commercial content, while blatantly selling you their services. The grift economy is real. Also this video could a been like 3minutes long, but I guess that doesn't maximize their SEO.
One note: it's our RUclips channel where users should expect the promotion of our service which it totally fair and not disguised. The New York Times promoting The New York Times' subscription on The New York Times website is not parasiting anyone.

This is some weird communist/socialist point of view. It's up to the consumer to decide what they're reading is true. Trusting Google or a random site is a personal responsibility, not big tech or the government.

It's because Ahrefs are still crying about one of their competitors recently buying a website and putting themselves as the number one recommended seo tool (above Ahrefs).
I have seen a few people express this POV that the buying decision is the sole responsibility of the buyer. While that is true at face value, you have to consider that we turn to information to try to make decisions. If the source of information are all corrupted, how then can we filter if what we are reading is true or false?
For example, you go to your doctors to confirm a certain drug, he gives you his opinion, how do you conclude he is giving you the best opinion if not by consulting other doctors or other trusted sources of info? Now imagine if the majority are peddling false BS,
My conclusion is this, we have to hold the source of information accountable for giving reliable and unbiased info to help buyers make the right decision
