@seanzscorpio women have been historically denied even basic education while men create their industries. a lot of women, not all, have access to education and social freedoms for them to pursue their own careers. but at first, they'd have to chase 'serious' careers to be taken seriously. while men are still thriving in their male-dominated industry. AND NOW, more women can freely choose their career, some of them will choose fashion. but by this point, it's so male-dominated that it's hard to get ur foot in the door. the same concept applies to race which is why equal opportunities programs exist. men and women don't start on equal footing and that's before you factor in race and socioeconomic factors. laquan smith had really interesting moments like the leather pants/bustier combo or the lavender jumpsuit but some of it was just so fashion nova. high highs and low lows
I loved the big poofy dresses, particularly when juxtaposed with the Maiko(Geisha) -style makeup. I have a simple question for Siriano: have you not heard of cutting longer strips of fabric to avoid the unsightly waist seam? Also: why do half of the seams look like they weren't properly pressed?
There’s a new brand that Kim K wore in a insta pic the other day. It’s called Noon (noon_c_i) and they/he/she makes hand painted tulle garments but they only have like 3000 followers. I’m interested if you have any hot take on how a small brand like theirs has had Kim K wear their clothes in a couple of Instagram pictures?
Many celebrities have stylists who specifically look for emerging brands. Kim obviously wears known brands, but she (and other celebs like Bella Hadid, for example) have been known to wear relatively unknown brands, custom items, or archival designer vintage to have a more 'unique' look.
Luke: "this Rodarte pyjama set can be a stylish but comfortable outfit to wear in your morning zoom" Me, poor af, wearing a tshirt that's 10 years old and my mum's sweatpants: "yes, I agree, that would be a nice outfit for a zoom call" 😅
The first thing I think of when I saw Koizumi’s sleeveless wedding dress with the red ribbon tied at the waist is the Asian concept of the red thread of fate - an invisible red thread that connects two people that are destined to be together regardless of time, place, or circumstances. Vvv wedding appropriate
I agree with some of the criticism of the 1940s inspired looks, but I love that someone was influenced by a decade before the 1970s. I would love to see more 18th through early 20th century work. I wonder what a fancy designer would do with the design ideas floating around the historical costume world. This is especially true if they could work on solving practical problems for customers through the use of older construction techniques.
I really love the Peter Do collection. Although not perfect, it's all mostly interesting and I'll definitely watch what they come up with going forward.
