"Johnny Walker", of course. It is still sung late at night at many of the summer festivals here. I always had to play that with guitar again at the end.
Freiheit is one of my favorites, but sadly misused in the last years.
The guy has been doing this for ages. His first song was "Mit 18" in 1978. Great song, still played today.
He played in the 1977 film "Theo gegen den Rest der Welt".
Had another breakthrough in 79 with the album "Mit Pfefferminz bin ich dein Prinz".

He doesn't love her, he's obsessed with her.
It's the same theme as in Every Breath You Take by Police.
He says very clearly that she has no chance - he controls her life.
So, like the Police song, it's not a love song.
It's a song about a disturbed personality.
These people always say that they love someone and do everything out of love, and if they then hurt that person, then it's the victims' fault.

I’m being honest: I don't like this version at all. MTV Unplugged can sometimes produce something amazing, but it can also ruin a song. I'm not a fan of this rendition. I much prefer the original studio version, even though it's not my usual taste in music.
Westernhagen must not do much to convey the expression of the song. He is an excellent actor, starring in many successful movies esp. in the 80s.

Marius Müller-Westernhagen released the song in the fall of 1987. In the post-reunification period, “Freedom” became the anthem of that time. 30 years of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The best video is from 1989.At this time was the Fall of the Berlin Wall.

It is not the same as we heard in 89. we had this song on cd vinyl or kassette. this is live. But this was always played on partis, sorry about my englisch.

I love his voice. But to be honest, the text sounds very abusive to me. "Born for me" "never get rid of me" and let's not forget the forgive me for cheating on you. Dude you are talking about a woman with her own life and aspirations and not about a posession.

Hi Dwayne, I don´t know, this has always ben my least favourite song from this artist. I think it feels kinda creepy "you won´t get rid of me ..., you were born for me,,," just doesn´t sit right with me. He did some decent stuff though, over the years.
