I prefer State's style, he adds in a lot more info about the game than Artosis did - with Tastosis things were more chaotic and funny, probably due to having worked together for so long, but Stateless brings more in-depth knowledge and a differently funny cast.
State getting tested with the disconnects - started to lose it a bit with the Batman - Tasteless refusing to venture down Inspector Gadget Lane, but still managed to get a few nice banters back and forth and right back into the game like a pro.

Honestly, herO looked terrible this season. In these games he was forgetting units, wasting a lot, and took some incredibly bad engagements. It felt like his attention was unable to keep up for whatever reason. You can see this in a mirror match up too, when he played vs Nightmare (P) last group he was in. He got ahead, threw away tons of units and positions and BARELY won by the skin of his teeth. I like herO and enjoy his play but this season was really shake and the better players won.

i know it scales depending on skill level, a dia league terran wont beat a gm toss, but tvp is broken and terran in general is clearly op. not sure how any active sc2 players/ watchers can feel differently. stats dont lie, terran is op
@@tigera6 online cups don't mean much. Not much as at stake, players may not be bringing their best builds. Win all the online cups you want; if you can't win when it matters then you aren't the better player. Cure is probably the best TvP in the world right now, but what really surprised me was how amazing his TvZ looked vs Dark. Based on that series, I doubt Dark will be winning this season. Gumiho is looking amazing in TvZ (He looked really good vs Solar this tourney, plus he annihilated Solar in ESL Summer AND took 2 games off Serral in the finals), and even if Dark beats Gumiho then he hast to rematch Cure (yikes) OR play Maru (double yikes)

Meanwhile, Byun and Gumiho both are approaching's Cure/Maru level strength. Terran's are only dominating in Korea right now. Everywhere else is pretty even. It's not the race, it's the players.

While I do agree that Maru has done his share of choking through the years (3 straight lost in GSL final before getting G5L, world title to Oliveira), I think Maru has zero pressure to win this GSL and hope that should allow him to play with better performance.

Ghosts are a good answer, but they are the only answer. Terran has nothing else, so you can't touch them without a huge rework. It's also not stale by any means. Byun and Eric have both made crazy cool build orders that change the matchup entirely. Zergs can now do a quicker pool without trolling(very good for aggression), and this double rax reaper slows the zerg down enough to drag out the midgame for so much longer, really putting the terran in a position to gain a lot of tempo(similar to what we saw clem and byun do before Maru showed everyone how to beat zergs in the late game). There are more options for both sides now.
I cant even believe how bad Hero played. I wanted Dark to win but I'm actually pissed off with Hero's performance. This is the first time I've thought someone was intentionally throwing, it was so insanely bad to the point that he didn't belong in the tournament.
I mean to be honest these people are on constant extreme doses of adhd medication to be able to play at a superhuman level, mess one thing up in your diet, mindstate, sleep, dosage, ... and you won't be at that level.
Sad state of affairs for Starcraft. The time to fix the glaring issues was years ago. The increased worker start ruined the early game for protoss and now they are simply too predictable to play against at a high level. A proxy tech building is the best cheese a Protoss can pull off? That's hugely risky, whereas zerg and terran have many openings and fallbacks when they fail. Hero is clearly uninspired, and I don't blame him.

@@Ranger0730 Nothing you said refutes my point. Proxy gateway and 4 gate were both nullified when they doubled the starting worker count. These are no longer viable openings. Not to mention probe harass and scouting opportunities were limited. Protoss used to be able to send an initial probe in to the opponents base and get in unscouted before they built their first depot at the ramp. Just one example. These threats being removed hurt the early game.

I love Tasteless to death, but damn, can you really tell he doesn't have a clue about sc2 beyond what he casts. I get that he's the hype caster, not the analyst, but still, I feel like with a very little effort (read preparation), he could do so much better. It feels like he takes the fact that we're watching for granted and that he got lazy (that's been my sense for the last ~3-4 years already). In a previous cast he has proclaimed that SoS has really retired at his peak, and I just literally couldn't believe my ears, wondering if he's drunk or high. This was the most extreme example, but it definitely feels that his internal rankings are stuck in 2018. Too long were we used to Artosis's level of analysis he just kept on bringing all those years. State is doing really well but of course has ways to go and Tasteless is just unable to carry. You can see Tastelesses great progress as a caster and host personality and his regress as a SC2 caster specifically.
Agree with you here. I mean how hard is it for Tasteless to just spend a few mins/hours to catch up on the meta and at least be knowledgeable with the game? It's his job anyway. And he's always bringing up SC1 which is so frustrating.
Unfortunate turn of events. I think I'll skip the rest of this tournament. I can't bring myself to watch any more TvZs. Good luck to whoever takes this and let's hope the balance of future GSLs normalizes again.

we need a new meta, game 3 of dark vs cure is a demonstration of Terran playing single player and winning vs Zerg. its the exact same thing that the swarmhost did
its just another group stage, not elimination bracket so Bo3 kinda make sense. But yeah, having Bo5 for the Winner, Lover and Elimination match would be pretty cool.
Protoss usually has lesser unit counts, at pro level when they make 1 tiny mistake and the army count will be like 50 against 100, almost guarantee no return from there. But if other races make a mistake by the time Protoss arrives for counter their army count equals back lol. And their units r so bulky and slow, any attacks from 2 directions its as good as dead. Also they have so many units that can shoot down but not up or vice versa. I would like if they can nerf colossus range n dmg but can shoot air or disruptor can cancel the attack or even something more drastic.

The terran players are just better. You can't complain about balance when hero move commands his whole army into ty and still wins. Toss deserved to lose every single game they lost. Except nightmare, who deserved to beat hero, who is in fact a protoss. maybe you should complain about protoss because pvp was the only matchup where the player who played better lost.
Honestly, the Terran players are just playing better and are probably still enjoying the game. When Hero played, it felt like he lost his confidence. It's sad to see because he has the potential to be one of the best.
Serral's been experimenting with a pure ling + infestor build -- and into ultras later iirc -- vs terran the past month or two, so it seems to be a general movement of experimentation that the other races will probably adjust to.
terran imba, nerf ghost EMP buff protoss, maybe change storm somehow (+ damage on armored units?)? extend range on feedback? make feedback AOE? it should be something to do with HT I think. storm would affect Z too much.

@@jameslog3431 actually they should deal NO damage on shields. That spell is not supposed to be an AoE nuke, it's an anti-caster spell. But that's only one of the insane things Terran have, and they still can't take the big international ones. Really, they should be ashamed with their performance outside of Korea with such a broken race.

Watching the last game of the winners match, I'm hoping some changes come to TvZ because I think Terrans can play like that a lot more and not be too easily punished. I think Zergs would almost be forced into trying to blind counter greedier builds since Terran can deny scouting fairly easily unless Zerg makes a much heavier commitment to scout. I much prefer seeing larger pushes, counter attacks, and more interaction generally from both sides.
I think its a map specific thing, Neo Humanity has the watch tower on both sides, and the rock with slow zone in the middle making it near impossible for Zerg to win in early game, Terran can just sit home and wait until they have all the lategame tech before trying to fight. Not sure why Dark let this one through because its almost an instant veto by most of the Zerg.
No, because fair competition matters and if the best protoss player in the world throws units away for free by move commanding them into the enemy literally every game, they deserve to lose.

One mistske with Protoss as Grandmaster and you lose the game. Her0 had a few new ideas, but nothing worked

A real shame on that disconnect in game 1 of the losers match. That really killed the excitement of what was an otherwise amazing game.

I love Tasteless to death, but damn, can you really tell he doesn't have a clue about sc2 beyond what he casts. I get that he's the hype caster, not the analyst, but still, I feel like with a very little effort (read preparation), he could do so much better. It feels like he takes the fact that we're watching for granted and that he got lazy (that's been my sense for the last ~3-4 years already).
In a previous cast he has proclaimed that SoS has really retired at his peak, and I just literally couldn't believe my ears, wondering if he's drunk or high. This was the most extreme example, but it definitely feels that his internal rankings are stuck in 2018.
Too long were we used to Artosis's level of analysis he just kept on bringing all those years. State is doing really well but of course has ways to go and Tasteless is just unable to carry.
You can see Tastelesses great progress as a caster and host personality and his regress as a SC2 caster specifically.
Agree with you here. I mean how hard is it for Tasteless to just spend a few mins/hours to catch up on the meta and at least be knowledgeable with the game? It's his job anyway. And he's always bringing up SC1 which is so frustrating.

Protoss usually has lesser unit counts, at pro level when they make 1 tiny mistake and the army count will be like 50 against 100, almost guarantee no return from there. But if other races make a mistake by the time Protoss arrives for counter their army count equals back lol.
And their units r so bulky and slow, any attacks from 2 directions its as good as dead. Also they have so many units that can shoot down but not up or vice versa. I would like if they can nerf colossus range n dmg but can shoot air or disruptor can cancel the attack or even something more drastic.

This guy move commands units across the map into an opponents army practically giving them away for free and still wins. Face it. These protoss players all deserved to lose.

The terran players are just better. You can't complain about balance when hero move commands his whole army into ty and still wins. Toss deserved to lose every single game they lost. Except nightmare, who deserved to beat hero, who is in fact a protoss. maybe you should complain about protoss because pvp was the only matchup where the player who played better lost.

Honestly, the Terran players are just playing better and are probably still enjoying the game. When Hero played, it felt like he lost his confidence. It's sad to see because he has the potential to be one of the best.

Serral's been experimenting with a pure ling + infestor build -- and into ultras later iirc -- vs terran the past month or two, so it seems to be a general movement of experimentation that the other races will probably adjust to.

buff protoss, maybe change storm somehow (+ damage on armored units?)? extend range on feedback? make feedback AOE? it should be something to do with HT I think. storm would affect Z too much.

@@jameslog3431 actually they should deal NO damage on shields. That spell is not supposed to be an AoE nuke, it's an anti-caster spell.
But that's only one of the insane things Terran have, and they still can't take the big international ones. Really, they should be ashamed with their performance outside of Korea with such a broken race.

Watching the last game of the winners match, I'm hoping some changes come to TvZ because I think Terrans can play like that a lot more and not be too easily punished. I think Zergs would almost be forced into trying to blind counter greedier builds since Terran can deny scouting fairly easily unless Zerg makes a much heavier commitment to scout. I much prefer seeing larger pushes, counter attacks, and more interaction generally from both sides.
I think its a map specific thing, Neo Humanity has the watch tower on both sides, and the rock with slow zone in the middle making it near impossible for Zerg to win in early game, Terran can just sit home and wait until they have all the lategame tech before trying to fight. Not sure why Dark let this one through because its almost an instant veto by most of the Zerg.
