I love how well this scene is the game, you could really feel the despair. No monsters to fight Infrastructure decaying Nowhere left to run from the truth All you could is walk forward in hope for James ❤️
This song has always made me think of how feeling sick feels, especially when it comes to respiratory illness. I have asthma and when i have an asthma attack or even just a cold that triggers a flare up this song has always rung in my head like a bell.
To me this track represents James's world unraveling from finding out the truth, it's represented in the hotel's change and in the ost, it's just brilliant visual and audio storytelling.
@@king2176yeah idk what people are talking about - it doesn’t have the industrial sounds throughout. I wish we had this version on the official remake ost
At that exact point of the game and story this sound track appears, is just perfect. It fills you with all emotions, rushes you, calms you at the same time and feels like you are about to end it all. Its true depiction of what James has realized after seeing that videotape. Its truly other-worldly.
During the intro, when James was staring at the person on the other side the mirror, a silent alarm was triggered inside him. A tender tremor of enraptured memory. It became louder and louder over the course of the game, until this final scene, between the decrepit doors and the rotting corridors of Lakeview Hotel. These 'pulsing' sounds... that's the siren alarm taking over his entire perception. He tried to push it away, but can no longer.
It's a shame it only plays for the first floor of Otherworld Lakeview it's such a haunting song and was one of my favourites in the original. Glad it's in at all regardless.
@@relos100 If I recall it only plays until the flooded basement in the original, so all it would've been is just one more floor. It'd hardly ruin the moment in my opinion. Still as I said, I'm just happy it's still in the remake.
@@relos100 Huh? When I said it’s used longer I meant that in the section of the game it is used in it plays for more than just a single short floor. In the original the song barely last a few minutes and if you accidentally go through the wrong door it can stop playing even earlier than that. Now you can actually appreciate it for a little longer. It’s still played in the *same* moment, just for longer.
@@juicybucky9647 Black Fairy only plays in the Lakeview Hotel in both the original and the remake. The track that plays while making your way into Silent Hill is called "The Forest Trail". But it does have a similar vibe in my opinion.
This man had the gall to release two versions of the soundtrack for this game, one with 93 tracks and a separate Extra Edition with 94 other tracks Neither of those have this song or the Princess Music Box song I'm gonna suffocate these soundtracks with a pillow because Im losing it
When I was streaming this a couple of days ago, I got to this part of the game. It was then I started to feel high emotions from this game. And then... Spoilers: After seeing how the enemies didn't fight back. One was even scared baccing away slowly while twitching. I was like... damn, now I am the monster to them.
@@44bnj i think it's confirmed that the burned down hotel is the fogworld, while the pristine hotel is the otherworld, so the real hotel is actually the one burned down and damaged
I love the remake, but I kinda agree. In the original it was like the whole hotel was crying, in darkness and total emptiness. It's not bad on remake, but like you said, hits different, and it's not so impactful.
I feel while it may not relay the same sense of uncertainty in the OG, it does a good job still of setting the air. Like, you did everything. It was revealed to you and you, as well as James, are coming to the light of what has happened. No enemies left, just you and the world. The truth.
I like what the remake did better than the original. I was now able to see what the hotel really looked like. The enemies are scared of you. Everything is quiet and it's just you to come to terms with yourself after the final boss. The og, yeah the hotel looked grey, but most of everything was still intact. And you know damn well a burned down hotel will not look like that.
@@Mastabacc I'm in the same boat. I really enjoyed the darkness and emptiness of the original, but the harsh color change, the nature of decay in the hotel - it felt more like we, as the player, were finally seeing through James' eyes as he finally "woke up" to the truth of things. The beautiful hotel is a decrepit, lifeless wreck. His and Mary's hotel room is a pallid, filthy shell. The TV is broken, as if James had just been staring at nothing.

A message written on the walls something like "Nothing can heal thy bruise. Thy pain is grevious"
With this song playing, i felt it.
If I were James, who already feels terrible, I’d be thinking that they were just rubbing salt in my wound at this point.
I guess they just couldn't improve upon perfection.
Like they always say "if it ain't broke don't fix it"
They actually took out the loud clanking sounds and what not from the original Blank Fairy
Exactly! When I heard the ost that's the first thing that hit, I was saying to myself, thank Alyssa!
