Very good observation. And! : This is also why second tier clubs spend their time dribbling...they want uncontested shots and never get one. I never saw this relation before.
Is the music track in this video available in any platform? This is my fave music in all of your videos! I don't actually play basketball but I thoroughly enjoy these Film Room videos
Great question, and it’s hard to do. You can grab a ladder or a stand up dummy (like what football teams use) and put it a couple feet in front of you while you’re shooting. Anything to impede your direct line of vision to the rim will help.
2:07 😂😂😂 "These defenders are the best defenders in world" No, they are not. The NBA has terrible defense on average. It's hard to watch and very annoying. It dumbfounds me how they can be pros with such terrible defense.
I'm going to agree to disagree. My reasoning is probably too long for the comment section, but the point I'll make is - pro basketball players (meaning NBA, G-League, and Euroleague combined) are where the best defenders in the world play basketball.
@@TheFilmRoom1 They are the best all-around players, but not the best defenders. They routinely play "defense" with a large enough gap that a small car can be parked between them. Even with their height, it's no where near close enough to close out and contest a shot. The NBA is overloaded with offensive talent, but there are relatively few good defenders right now.
I would disagree with that as well, but rather than argue - let me ask you this; Outside of players in Euroleague, who plays better defense than NBA players?
@@TheFilmRoom1 NCAA D1 players typically. Look at Houston and Iowa St as examples of good defense. You can watch their games versus each other last season to get the best of both worlds.
Those are two great examples of some of the best defenses in college basketball. Here’s why I argue that your take on NBA players is a bad take. (Because I was guessing you were going to say college players are better defenders than NBA players) 1. In college, there’s no defensive 3 seconds. That rule change alone creates a huge difference in what you’re able to accomplish defensively. If the NBA got rid of defensive 3 seconds - scores would drop dramatically. 2. The court (and 3pt line) is bigger (farther) in the NBA. The increased amount of space that NBA players have to cover makes a significant impact on the difficulty of trying to defend. 3. Offensively, NBA players are objectively the best scorers on earth. If one of the role players from a bad NBA team were to go play in the Big 12 - they’d be the leading scorer in the league. So, that is going to make defenses look worse because of who they’re playing against. 4. Length of season. As much as this has been debated about the older generation vs the younger. It is objectively harder to play a 48 minute game (vs a 40 minutes game) 82+ games vs 27-30 that college kids play. I would never dispute the nba players take plays off, or don’t give maximum effort all the time - but a lot of that is out of necessity. All that matters is making the playoffs & being prepared for that “2nd season”. Comparing NBA defense to college is apples to oranges. That’s my take.

How can you work on contested shots with no defender?
