On September 6, a day-long ceasefire in eastern Ukraine was broken when pro-Russia forces shelled Ukrainian tanks driving into Mariupol. VICE News correspondent Simon Ostrovsky was in the city before, during, and after the ceasefire, and traveled to Mariupol's Eastern checkpoint as it endured the attacks.

This is so sad to watch...this entire series has been fantastic. Knowing the fate of poor Mariupol today....it's sad seeing how beautiful this city is and knowing its gone. Also that most soldiers in all of these older videos are most likely dead now. :( Glory to Ukraine!!!!! I only wish the West and other free nations would actually help protect you people....you are literally the face of free men fighting evil itself...you are the frontlines of good vs bad...and it just isn't fair so much bad is fighting so little of the good people.

Ceasefires are used to gain an unhindered mobility on the battlefield until you are ready to start again in better position. In other words, they are a pause, and rarely plausible.

Ukraine refused to re-sign Russia's lease for their Navy Base in Crimea. Same reason why all the Russians put up with Assad murdering his people wholesale for decades. They have a Naval Base there as well.

CeaseFire? That was a gift to the Pro-Russian Separatists to gather more supplies, troops and artillery and position themselves perfectly for a push and siege Mariupol. This was just the time and logistics that the Pro-Russian Separatists needed to prepare for an orchestrated attack with Russian Troops on the city of Mariupol. This cease-fire is over now.

That destroyed tank had turret pointed backwards and it looked like it was driven on that caltrop where it may have stuck and hit then. Turret was definitely backwards.

I have to mention that in certain cases the subtitles dont match.. For instance at 6.41, the soldier simply says the "separatists", while it is translated as "the so-called separatists."

So I'll explain it to you at the level of 3rd grade: Not everybody speaks Russian and would understand what is being said. Therefore, a translation is needed and here that is provided in the form of subtitles. And In order to get an accurate picture of the situation, you need to have accurate subtitles.

He missed a good story at 3.09 That Ukrainian tank with "death to enemies' and 'heading to Moscow' written on it got stopped by an anti tank concrete tripod which has 'stop the war' written all over it. It was widely reported in the Ukrainian media. The tank wasn't hit by an explosion as Simon suggests (he should stop making silly suggestions by now, since he has zero understanding of combat) but hit the concrete tripod due to a driver's mistake.
Well, if Simon told the real story, he would not have anything to illustrate the presence of the "Russian army" with. When you report that the Russian army is situated right across the hill, but don't have any real proves on the hands, then you should just invent them))

Well NATO is right, the rebels do have military training.
Many of the sepratists are ex-military, with much skill from the soviet war in afghanistan.
And there are many volunteers from russia that are soldiers on vacation.

that convoy could have been a Ukrainian one thanks to this very poor satellite image.
There should be a series of images showing where exactly the photo was taken, but instead, they are shown to be in obscure locations in Ukraine.

The part with that tank at the tank barricades, Simon come on, cant you tell the front from the back of the tank? and there was no crater from any kind of explosion behind it, there is another video showing that tank earlier with its engine still running, that tank rammed that barricade full speed.
To the Westerners here, please watch the interview with UA volunteer battalion, hear what they have to say, even they said they are fighting their former friends who they served with in Afghanistan, they are currently holding a rally Kiev wanting to know who allowed for this to happen, why when new power came in the first law was about languages (that really is what sparked this conflict off, tell me i'm lying you hate spreading C#nts!), why not sort out the economy first.
And as a Russian, I know Russia is supplying weapons, and there are plenty Russian volunteers to, there are plenty foreign volunteers on UA side as well, you cant deny this.

Separatists appeared not a week later but weeks later if not months, did you forget about the barricades manned by unarmed people, did you forget about the thousands of unarmed people (armed with clubs mostly) in the streets chanting "Russia", armed separatists appeared way later, after the UA army was sent in, how many videos are on RUclips of ordinary citizens stopping columns of UA army, or stopping tanks, one week my ass. there are plenty vids of UA army just leaving their armored vehicles and weapons, that when it began, when the east got their first weapons, Russia only started to supply them once it became a full armed conflict.
