Props to you keeping an open mind about something new that no one has ridden yet. Too many YTbers are too quick to pass judgement and they haven't even sat on the bike, let alone ridden it to give legit personal experience based opinion.
My modded klx 300 with 15 tooth front sprocket and windshield cruises 65mph nicely and still meets my singletrack needs. Wondering what is next though.
Good video commentary. I'm in the market for exactly what you were describing....been eyeing the Husky701/KTM690 but also now delayed my purchase as I want to see the CFMoto 450MT, Suzuki DRZ4S and possibly the BMW 450 concept they showed, with the BMW and CFmoto being a bit on the larger side. My main goal is reduced weight from my current 2017 BMW F800GS which is great for a lot of riding until it gets technical or deep sand.
It's the age old unicorn debate, especially for us that don't want to trailer. I use to ride my 701 on Rampart rd. single track. The weight in motion wasn't a big deal, but the physical size and height would get annoying during tight switchbacks compared to my 350. I especially noticed it on sandy, rutted downhill. But then on-road speeds above 60-65ish, the 350 is just a little buzzy boring thing. I'm excited to see how the DRZ4S goes. In hindsight, I wish I would have got a FE501 or 450rl, but I sunk to much $$ to sell it now in this market.
I have a DRZ400s now, and am pretty sure I want to get a DRZ4s in 2025. I love that the bike is not too heavy to lift in mushy watery grassland. I am fine with the power, and the bike will do 60 happily and 65-70 without much fuss. 60 is def its sweet spot though. Only other bike I've considered is the Aprilla Taurag rally, but at a teeth chattering 14k, I doubt that I would be having twice as much fun on that as the 4S. For half the price I can buy some add-ons for the new bike, I'm even working on some fun lighting ideas for it. I have no complaints on the 400s, other than maybe gas tank size and range? But I can throw a couple of gas bottles on the back and get some more range. Fun stuff! It's the end of December and if it would just stop raining I could ride more!
I'm here looking for information on this new DRZ. I'm thinking I'm still a little too early. I put 18,000 mi on a '09 DRZ before I stepped to a Exe 350
NONE of the above. Race it out in the Woods then put it on a motocross track and you will find out real quick. I Sold my KTM690 Enduro R as fast at I could. Real World 59hp 350lbs with fuel. biggest let-down bike I ever paid cash for. Hated it. It Took 3 months to Sale it....Thank God it's Gone.

I've been riding off-road for decades... weight is everything IMO.

Strongly agree
Largely same dimensions, but: has efi, abs, new kyb suspension, catalytic converter in header, wider ratio 5 speed, led lights.
