'Dancing doctor' accused of filming videos during surgeries says patients consented

- A Georgia doctor, whose medical license was suspended after she was accused of recording music videos during surgeries without patients' consent, says "everyone was safe" during her operations.
I'm confused as to why she'll get her license back after 2.5 years after someone is left brain dead. She should NEVER be able to practice again. SMH
Transform With Kris -.... no one was left brain dead. Brain dead means, well, DEAD. The patient in question was left with serious brain damage. She’s still alive. Honestly, in her shoes I’m not sure I’d prefer to still be alive, but she is.
(I’m not saying that because I’m ableist or because I have no clue what it’s like. I’m multiply physically disabled myself and use forearm crutches or a wheelchair to get around. My little brother was mentally retarded with progressive brain death that robbed him of abilities one by one, day by day, until he died in the throes of a massive seizure at the age of 10. So I know a damn sight better than most people about the true realities of being left with the kind of damage shown.)
Transform With Kris - I do agree, though, that her license should be permanently revoked. She’s a horrible excuse for a human being, takin advantage of patients like that. In my mind, the only thing worse that a doctor can do to patients than what this woman is doing (aside from the obvious death) is raping unconscious patients. And yes, that’s happened before.
Coding in an elective procedure.. is not very common, they are medically cleared but you can still react to the anesthesia

This happens more often than you think....in terms of doctors being able to keep their license after a patient is severely injured or dead after surgeries. A plastic surgeon I have worked with had a patient who was a young and fresh out of high school die from a routine nose job. While it helps to go to a reputable doctor, every operation, no matter how small has a risk for complications.

@Asa Olsen They weren't "in recovery". She literally was holding a huge piece of the patients flesh and was dancing around with it DURING SURGERY. The patient was still under heavy anesthesia

@@desireebuffeydb80 Apparently you don't have to be a board certified plastic surgeon to do plastic surgery. I guess as long as the patient agrees to the procedure, you can go at it full amateur hour. You should definitely read up on your doctor before considering any surgery.

those patients did not agree, i saw an interview with a patient from one of those videos the top signature (the patient’s signature) was blank and only the doctor had signed it. this woman seems so unaffected by her actions. i think this stretches beyond dancing videos and she’s just an inconsiderate and insensitive person overall. gives me chills.

MALE NURSE - Yeah, my jaw hit the deck at that comment. I have vastly more training than those MAs* and would never, ever, feel comfortable assisting in something like that. Hell, I disliked assisting in line changes!
* - I grew up surrounded by very severely disabled children, and as a result, spent 3 years working for a family friend helping care for their daughter. She’s on hospice, on life support- vent, breathing treatments, vest, 4x daily nasotrachael suctioning, triple lumen central line, TPN, g-tube vent with constant GI bleeds- the list goes on. She survived a beyond extreme case of neonatal hyperbilreubinemia (which I know I just misspelled, but my iPad insists on changing it to that and I’m done fighting it), actually setting a record for worst case survived. This is all the end result.

Medical assistant is like a start up job, like training. It is terrifyingly to here that she had no nurses. And medical assistants can only do so little compared to nurses, so half the stuff she had them do probably was illegal.
I'm a nurse and a medical student. She has no nurses because no nurse with an ounce of respect for her profession or the lives of her patients would EVER AND I MEAN EVER permit her to do what she does. If she tried it in my OR I would have kicked her the hell out. Nurses now are trained to fight against the doctor if they believe their's a danger to their patient. I have gone toe to toe with doctors to protect my patient when they ordered something incorrectly and any nurse worth their salt would as well. And she knows all this too so she has MAs which is a nice way to say patient babysitting service because they are not trained nor legally licences to do much more than basic patient care and I mean the bare basics like accompanying patients who can't be left alone, changing beds and helping them to eat and drink and just basic monitoring. They train for only 2-4 weeks. Anything more than this requires a nursing licence LPN and up and much greater training. They aren't even legally allowed to be in an OR much less assisting in surgeries. They could help out Post OP with patient movement and monitoring but are not licensed to set foot in an OR for that you need a nurse with a BSN or higher and none would ever allow this

I’ve had quite a few surgeries over the years, including 3 by an orthopedist who’s a bit kooky and very hyper. I have never, ever, felt that they didn’t buckle down and treat the surgeries with the seriousness required. And every last one had a proper anesthesiologist and a full nursing staff, even the one held at an outpatient surgical center.
Whew! Yes! I'm glad we can just keep getting licenses like new shoes! Lose all on your first total scam? Can't pay loans like that! (Its weird. Its true. Nurses don't trust us because their career is on it)

I’m a home healthcare provider and certified MA. So not a doctor but I am in the medical field. This is absolutely sickening to me. I am appalled. I wouldn’t dance around and make music videos while administering meds, let alone performing surgery.
That was just not professional. She had to have known that her behavior was unquestionably wrong but thought that she could get away with it. Her ethical behavior was deplorable.

there is a before and an after surgery that could have been acceptable to do that kind of video...but absolutly not when the operating room must be a sterilized environment...
Thus doesn't surprise me. I use to contract to clean her offices and procedure rooms. She is the only customer I ever fired. Every month I had to beg to be paid for regular services. Then she started doing procedures late at night and required my staff to make a 2nd visit to the facility, often well after midnight, to clean the procedure rooms. As this was extra services, I would invoice for this and they refused to pay. I eventually left and was short paid on final invoice. Then there was the time they were shut down for a week due to a MRSR outbreak in her facility. I was never told that me and my staff had been exposed. I learned the truth by seeing a news report. I requested that my staff be tested and was ignored. In my 30 years in the cleaning business, I never encounter anyone who seemed to always want to get free services and never pay on time. I say karma always finds its way back to those who mistreat thise who serve them. I wish no bad on anyone but, you can't go around cheating people and expect it not to come back to you. Back to the MRSA breakout in her facility, it was clear she didn't care about me of my staff.

My son said that there’s really NO multitasking. None! He told me this while I was listening to music and trying to study. I turned off the music and I discovered he’s right. Our brains can only focus on one task at a time. Cutting flesh needs anatomical precision and concentration. One time I happened to be given permission to watch a surgical procedure. Everyone present sort of said that the surgeon preferred music while he’s doing procedure and the music was on when he entered the surgical suite. The perception I got was that everyone was proud of the practice, so it continued, like a badge of excellence. I don’t know if there were problems or not. It made a mark in my brain, wondering if it was really a badge of excellence???
Can dermatologists do that type of surgery?? They are not trained as surgeons! This procedure should only be done by a plastic surgeon. I hope this lady NEVER gets her license back.

When you go to a private dr. Don't just sit in the waiting room reading those out of date magazines.
Look at the staff. Are they working or are aways laughing and joking.

I had a medically necessary plastic surgery procedure and signed a photo release, but it explicitly said what the photos would be used for. I signed the part that said my photos could be used in medical journals and educational tools, but decided not to sign the release that allowed my photos to be used on their website for advertising. You need to tell people what they are consenting to and what you're going to use their photos for. You can't be so cavalier with photos and videos of people's naked bodies.
Why would anyone consent go a doctor performing while they are working over their unconscious body. Having to go through surgery is nerve wracking enough without the doctors doing something outright stupid for laughs and entertainment.
