always think what could happen in every superlittle moment and detail, instead of waiting for what will happen :) nothing more satisfying than reading the streets before it actually happens and being a step ahead and actually being alot quicker and safer than others through this method. that's how every good cityrider does it. But yea, Toni, and the guys Terry rides with, are extragood;) the second point is being able to handle your bike well. simple 2 things i think:D
I don’t know who is crazier, the guy you’re filming or you trailing him in the crazy scenarios (running red lights, weaving between cars). You are a true professional and your courage and commitment to this craft is admirable. I am a huge fan.

I used to ride like these guys thinking "I'm just a bike, I won't hurt anyone" but you have to understand that you can actually cause a car crash when you run a red light. someone can swerve to miss you and that can cause a severe chain of events. I still run red lights but weaving through traffic like this is real bird brain shit. if it's teenagers I get it but these are grown ass men lol
each person behind the next person has it harder and harder, if u ride as a "human train" :P (edit: in cities/traffic/redlights/crowded/tight spaces) Except you're able to commit to fallowing and overcome your fear and morph it into focus and reaction, as terry does and every "good" citybikerider (in my opinion) gotta be able to, otherwhise stick to the rules, the bikelane. Always know what you're capable of and WHAT NOT, if you're able to do that, you can start pushing the borders *softly* ;)
I am SO stoked I found your page. I've been riding fixies for years in Albuquerque and feel like the only one, I can't imagine how fun it is cycling in big cities. Thanks for making this content and sharing it, it helps people understand what exactly this lifestyle entails.
What a wonderful ride, with great views of the city. It's clear that a cyclist with good legs can beat a car in NYC any day. It is really scary sometimes, though, and this type of cycling is definitely only for the young and the brave. The road system, and how you have to flow with the cars does remind me a lot of what cycling used to be like in The Netherlands some forty-odd years ago -- except maybe for the part where you ignore literally all traffic lights.
@qazatqazah - bicycling anywhere in Europe 40 years ago was a dream come true. In Alpenthal or Amstelveen, pedestrians were just riders taking a walking break. Those were the days.
@@bob-ny6kn I think that that is still pretty much true: you probably know that the bicycle infrastructure here has improved a lot since then. (Still, I would strongly advice against ignoring traffic lights here. It's often much better to avoid them.)
Because they ride fixies without brakes they have to ride this way. They have basically no way to suddenly stop or even majorly slow down if they need to. You either know how to cut something/someone or you impact.

Currently I'm just on (16mm) go-pro's "superview" at 60fps, 1/120s shutter speed, with a "16ND" filter. Would like to hear suggestions if you know anything about this.

those are just numbers so you have somthing to compare yourself to. It's fixed gear riding, why would you need speed, watts and heartrate and shit? it's about style, danger, flow and skill. there are no stats for art

I'm from LA, I bomb down mountains and shoot through winding canyons. Watching someone else cruising through the streets of New York creates a level of stress I have never felt before.

It's awesome watching this now as I just arrived back home 3 days ago to the Philippines from my first trip of 3 months to NY. I rode and explored a bunch of areas in this video and not gonna lie, I'm sad I won't have that high for a little while. Thank you for this TB and Toni 💯

@@shreddersaurusrex323 yes, I know. I have a trackbike with 165mm crank and still had pedal strikes with this setup. That said I'm a roadie and don't ride my fixedgeard too often, so it's just missing skill I guess
@@stop223 1. don't take wide pedals ;) he's riding in spd-sl. 2. a real track bike has a higher bottom bracket. Check a good vigorelli, rather than those cheap fixies and old fixified road bikes, perhaps. => combine => you'll never hit again.
If this was in the UK 🇬🇧 the roads would be jammed with cars and buses and the roads are hammered in pot holes ( no long stretches either) love every video and thanks for your uploads
This was so exciting to watch my only issue was when they got on the highway with a beautiful bike lane over the bridges... Like that didnt make sense to me other than that super impressive riding
Does NYC have rolling hills or is it completely flat? The downtown core of Toronto is almost completely flat, but you get up to midtown or further North or East and you get some pretty steep rolling hills. Not sure a fixie would be a good fit for such terrain.

They're riding on a Sunday and looks like morning, so less traffic. NYC roads tend to be bumpy AF with crappy patch jobs and have potholes galore.
