i love the old literature, i'm not a prude, not against swearing. I actually do on a regular basis. What I love, here,is perfect grammar. The visualization. Am I just old and not able to hold to the past I love.
I know exactly what you mean. I am 70 now and I tell my grandson (12) as much about my past and the world I grew up in. He’s always interested and asks lots of questions. I’m not a person who says everything in the ‘good’ old days were better because they certainly were not. But I do think there were things like principles, people looking out for each other, getting out on bikes, playing sports, reading and walking and so on, that sadly is lacking now.All of these stories come from a bygone age which are very important as well. I used to read ghost stories all the time, they kept me amused for hours.
Yes! Seriously, I’m 67 and love listening to and reading these old tales. The prose is beautiful almost artistic. I believe that this is why Movies ( excellent as many are) of old classics such as “Lord of the Rings” etc, can disappoint those of us who grew up reading these treasures.
Mr. Tony, thank you, thank you, thank you!! You've given this 'old mans' heart and mind 12+ hours of fun in listening. I'm truly a fan of the old Edwardian and Victorian ghost stories, the most!! I enjoy everything you work hard at providing for us mere fan's, but imho... these are the best!!
I did a poll of you remember and people wanted the victorian and edwardian ones. i’ll do an edwardian compilation at some point too. i’m very pleased you enjoyed it
Tony's ghost tales are a balm to my broken spirit. I've been listening to his shorter stories during the day. His voice calms the fear and despair so many of us in the States feel right now. Now this longer compilation is getting me through the night. Ironically, when I wake up in a cold sweat at 3 a.m. ghost stories (told in Tony's rich voice) provides succor. Thank you.
I just heard Mrs Zant And The Ghost and recalled myself (being widowed in 2022) praying to what ever Divine Force who would listen to please allow him to inhabit another body to fulfill his true purpose on Earth or to be my Spirit Guide so that I could accomplish alone with his protection my/our true purpose on Earth. I swear hand to the creator that I have never heard this story before. It brought a tear to my eye most definately
Doing my darnedest to turn a close friend of mine onto your stuff. I don't know if he gets that I'm not just enamored with classic horror - I also need my favorite narrator!
Thank you so much Tony!! I'm stuck in bed,yet again, with the 'Flu and pneumonia in the left lung, and I can't sleep.... So, this is what will make this situation far better, as I can listen to your 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 narrations!! We've just got back from Wales, for my Uncle's funeral, it was bloody damp and cold, just like Cumbria, so we felt at home anyway, I'll shaddap and Listen to you!! Namasté 🙏 Andréa and Jasper. ...XxX.... Ps, Hopefully we'll be able to afford your Patreon later on this month, at least you will be able to afford those business cards and Tee-shirts with our gratitude printed on!! Haha.😅 (That was meant to be funny not sarcastic, which is how it might look?!)
@@ClassicGhostYes,it is!! Painful as well, Jasper Mutt is keeping me too warm 🥵 Bless the hairy little Brillo Pad!! Please accept my sincere apology if I seemed sarcastic,I was just trying for humour, but probably wide of the mark!!
I’ve been really enjoying listening to you read these wonderful classic ghost stories, and I’ve liked the newer stuff as well. Your content is well curated. I’ve been listening oldest to newest so I’m just on stories posted about 2 years ago. I’d like to recommend Japanese ghost/horror stories retold by Lafcadio Hearn. My favorite is the Boy Who Drew Cats. I heard this story when I was a toddler from a horror stories record of my much older siblings. I’m sure that vinyl record started my love of classic horror tales.
I love Victorian ghost stories. Thanks so much, Tony! 👻
My soul is exhausted, and what a luxuriant corner of the internet my ears have slipped into...💯
Isn't Tony's voice just like velvet?

The way he reads is so wonderful, he really draws you in and makes you feel he is reading just to you.

Don’t swear. It makes you sound like an illiterate person with a limited vocabulary.

Ghost stories are actually cosy. A bit like the Golden Age of detectives with all their murders are actually cosy.
Beautifully put. Couldn't possibly say it better myself.
Thank you once again, Tony, for being the voice that soothes the broken parts of us.
Oooohhh, *rubbing my hands together* can't wait to get cozy and warm in preparation for this auditory banquet! Thank you, Tony dear! ❤
Enjoy!

I have done one Lafcadio Hearn story. I’ve done a couple of non-Anglo stories but they tend to languish.
Ohh, Poor Nip!!😢💔🐶
I slow the speed down to .075 speed and luxuriate.
Thank you.
And you are welcome and I am glad you do! Someone else turns me up to 1.25. I don't mind that either.
Thank you for these Tony. Brilliant narration as always.xx
Hi Tony, FYI Americans pronounce Bowie, as Boo-Wee. The Knife is named for Colonel James Bowie of the Alamo fame.
Some Americans do :)
Can we get a 12 hours of Jasper doing female American voices?
I could ask him
